Hello Everyone! Welcome to my first RU-vid video! I know I didn't film the whole build process and I apologize for that. If you have any suggestions to help me with my channel I would really appreciate it! Thank you and have a nice day!
You did just fine. Use what you had laying around... It's not like you modified some priceless and rare relic.I've come across several YZ rolling frames without engines over the years, doing stuff like this gives it a new purpose, saves it from being scrapped. Everyone is so obsessed with the fact that it doesn't have the same performance....they completely miss the point of the build entirely. If you wanted something that performed better, this would be a different project. You did a great job.
@@budgetbuildz4191 no problem! I find both projects (the yz125 shift cart, and predator swapped yz) to be infinitely more interesting than watching someone rebuild another yz... Putting engines from one thing into something else it wasn't designed for will probably be myvfavorite projects. If im at a car show, i'll walk past $500,000.00 cars to see a lamborghini with a tractor engine...practical or not, I love it. Especially when its saving a salvage vehicle from doing nothing. If a vehicle is damaged beyond the feasibility of a stock restoration/ rebuild.. why notvrepurpose it. It has always astounded me how pissed people get, stating the builder ruined something... if its destined to be a parts car, etc.. who cares? At least it's being used.
@@budgetbuildz4191I agree with the comment, this would be perfect for a dirt road cruiser or to get around the farm and check on the cows. I'm looking for a doner frame, I'm trying to find a Chinese bike but it doesn't really matter. I'd like to know where you got that engine mount? That thing is cool!
I’m doing a similar build with my ttr225. You’re using a 520 chain and rear sprocket? If so how many teeth are on the front gear ⚙️ can I just use a 10 tooth clutch for a predator 212 and keep the rear sprocket and dirtbike chain???!!!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE.
@@budgetbuildz4191 I think you should do a follow up ride video so we can see a ball park figure as to how this engine stretches out on a longer trail or even down the street for take off speed and top end. It would be more content for your awesome build and add more videos to your channel. Have a great one man.
@@Youhaverights6 I do not remember the amount of teeth that sprocket had, and I had built that bike for me to sell it as I don't have alot of room to store my projects, I also want to say I greatly appreciate the support from you 🙏 I will be uploading more videos soon I just want to organize myself before I begin, have a blessed day brother ✌️🙏
@@budgetbuildz4191 Awe Awesome of you to get back at me so soon. You did an awesome job on that build and I liked the information your video provided. I am torn between going with a 440cc 18hp or just sticking to the 212 6.5hp. Your video shows that the 212 pushes the bike at a good burst and is looking to cruise good. I have a DR350 build and a RM250 build that I want to build for my brother in-law and I. Possible street cross country bikes. We are going to attempt a tear down and clean up, prep video for the you tube channel. Thank you once again for your contributions to the era and genre. I hope to see you build another. You have the experience to keep improving from bike to bike and maybe you could do like cars and cameras and get a compound for riding and building and storing one day from donations to your content. Quality Build man.
Nice video man but just a heads up if you didnt know, when u remove the governor u might also wanna change some internals like billet rod and cam an valve springs an most importantly a billet flywheel. u dont want shrapnal in your leg.
Cool build I love these 212 swaps and it’s awesome to get a bike up and going on a budget. It very much hurts to see this steel frame 125 getting chopped up tho a crf150f or a ttr230 or pretty much anything that’s not an old school race bike would have been more appropriate in my opinion but I also understand your just working with what you have.
Yea if your kx blows up save up some money and rebuild it please don’t do this please. Good steel frame bikes are becoming hard to find please don’t butcher another one…
Love engine swapping. Its so fun! I have a yz80 and when that motor goes... I got a plan B now. My next project is piranha 140 in a crf50 frame at the moment. Can't wait to get that going.
Did you put a xr200r carb on it? You should leave a list of what you did during your process so people can be I favor or give opinions about how to make it better or worse in some scenarios lol. Good build though bro!
I bought a #50 front sprocket and shaved it down to match the 520 dirtbike chain, you don't have to do it that way you can just buy 50 chain but it'll have some side to side play on the 520 sprocket!
Hello again, just curious exactly what your yz weigh now, if you have the time perhaps to put the wheels on a bathroom scale? also what year is your bike? doing the same with a 96 rm250, it might be a bit heavy, Im build a 236 tillotson with all the nice parts. very nice bike you have now.....Thanks for your time
You did an awesome job and I can tell you had fun doing his, although I would like to give you advice on a project like this. If you are going to repower a bike with a different engine, it would be more practical to use something with horsepower that's close to what came stock. For example, if I had a yz125 rolling chassis, I would repower it with another motorcycle engine. It would either be an engine with high performance, or something with a more smooth and trail friendly power band. There's still enough of that yz125 there to where you could go a totally different route if you wanted to.
I appreciate the kind words and advice, I understand where you're coming from with swapping a more high power motor into the bike, my goal was to build it as inexpensive as I could
@publiusserviliusvatiaisaur3115 I had actually rebuilt the yz125 that came with this bike but instead built an 80mph shifter kart with it which was way more fun lol
I'd love to create more content but I find it difficult by myself, my projects take longer to build having to move the camera everywhere. I'll be uploading again soon.
That is a good idea but the flatslide would be too big and would need to be tuned properly if it was a carb off a yz80 or any 2 stroke 80cc it would've worked out, I do appreciate the idea though!!
@@budgetbuildz4191 I have a 1981 xr200 frame tires handle bars and everything that goes on the bike itself minus engine I got a 420cc but like I said may be too big but I’m willing to get one a bit smaller
planning an old Honda 185 3 wheeler repower. trying use the crankshaft and case with gears and driving crank ( honda) with predator by removing cylinder piston and cam and rod ( honda) and creating a block off / honda // mounting plate/ predator. anything I should look out for?
@@safetyfirstintexas its very possible as I've seen it done before but there are a couple things you have to either create or buy, you'll need a sprocket hub for the input shaft of that transmission and then you'll need a clutch on the predator with the same sprocket pitch as your input shaft, EX: input shaft has a #41 sprocket you'll need a #41 clutch for the predator
@@budgetbuildz4191 tractor supply or atwoods had a lot of different sprockets chains and such pre co-19. a new power head with more cc's than honda (185) and a 5 speed auto trans would be the best of both worlds. might cause a smile.
The yz125 motor was used for a shifter kart I built, I had this frame left and figured I'd swap It and sell it! Believe me, if a shifter kart wasn't on my bucket list I would've rebuilt the whole bike lol
