Yes when it's needed. I usually use it tot lots. Or places that really frown on shovels.

Thank you! Are you able to step on it to plugs or is it too short and better to do it all by hand? Im trying to decide on whether to get the sparky or the bigger model. I really like my harbor freight mini shovel, length wise but the handle broke recently.

@knowbuddy0 u can definitely step on it like a normal shovel. U would just be bent way over to hold it steady. If u got good balance and a good back u would be good haha.
