Border between Slovenia And Italy is full of WWl remnants. The Soča front is mostly forgotten part of the war,at least on the West...and Predel is a Slovenian word meaning dividing point.
Thanks for another great video from my favorite country, Slovenia. It was built during the Napoleonic wars and was converted to a military depot around 1908 and abandoned after WWI as being no longer useful. A great site in a beautiful setting. I hope you met up with that redhead later!! Also, in a related item, you never showed us the landlords' daughter in Serbia. Every good vlog needs a little romance to spice things up!
Thanks for the explanations about the fort. And about the romance, ahahahhaha, well, I never got to meet the daughter of the landlord, and I never met again the woman of the fort either... but you are right I should try to add some romance to the vlogs at some point.
Something like this: In memory of heroic death of the imperial and royal engineer captain Johan Hermann von Hermannsdorf, on May XVIII MDCCCLX and the comrades-in-arms of Kaiser Ferdinand I who died with him.
The history buffs will know more than me, but I thought Predil fortress was to protect the Austrian Empire from Napoleon. And, now again another Frenchman is conquering this mountainous terrain!
Btw Slovenia was part of the Habsburg empire and other Germanic states before that for more then a millennium before we became part of Jugoslavia in 1918. So we are historically much more tied to central Europe and Germanic culture then to Balkans. Slovenia finally became independent in 1991.
Have you seen that hole?imagine if you fall in there and you are all alone,God forbid!.you can be forgotten and your family seaching for you until the end of the world😮
