I am going to have to say no to Kimi Antonelli for 2025 UNLESS he wins the title and he has to move up. Toto is not going to want to rush him into F1 and him be bodied by a possibly weak FW47. He will ideally have two seasons in F2 and then get the call-up having amassed all the superlicense points needed.
As huge Liam Lawson fans, my partner and I have agreed to call them "Credit Card Racing" thanks to Tommy. Its gonna be weird supporting a team with such a terrible name.
@@Redlingstein but there’s already a team called RB by everyone. And they’re the sister team. So calling them RB the one owned by redbull is still two teams. Even if we decide to stop calling them (Red Bull) RB it’s still going to create confusion because we’ve been doing that since RB had a team on the grid. Also it’s super detrimental to RB if there’s two teams owned by the same company called RB because then the whole “we’re two separate teams actually” argument goes away completely cause you’re now two teams with effectively the same name just different sponsors owned by the same company.
@@RedlingsteinExcept Mercedes is a real company with racing heritage, who the fuck is RB? That's not a team name. That's just RB. even Mastercard Lola HAS Lola in it you can call them "Lola" what the fuck do we call them? RB? That's retarded.
If Papa Stroll wants Junior to win a major championship, he should send him to WEC. The AM team is looking good, and the younger he is when he adapts, the better his chances of winning the championship (in the AM or a better car if he shows a natural talent for it. He wouldn't be the first F1 driver to do it by a long shot!)
I'm surprised you guys said Hulkenberg is staying at Haas. He nearly went to Sauber already. The only reason he's staying at Haas is a contract clause. Hulkenberg has been outspoken about his gripes with Haas and his willingness to bolt to Sauber
I think Hulkenberg escaping to Williams is just as likely. Or Ferrari if Sainz leaves since Hulk has experience with the Diet Ferrari and can work magic in quali
Honestly, Redbull is so fucked long term, could you imagine being a junior driver for them rn? "Yeah you get like 5 races to perform if you don't you are out" no wonder they have such poor driver morale besides Max.
@@0Synergy they do what every other team does but at a far higher pace. I don't think it's a positive thing. But ultimately they are trying to find the new max, vettel or even a few ricciardos and sainzes. It is crazy though how many do find a spot in f1 at least a quarter of the grid has red bull roots.
This is one hundred percent hilarious after the hamilton news. But, that was one hell of a bombshell. (can we do this same convo after the Ferrari announcement?)
In a recent interview he said he still has "unfinished business" in F1 and will be looking elsewhere if he doesn't get that Audi seat. I'm quite sure a team like Haas would be thrilled to have him so I'd say we got at least 2-3 more years of Valtteri after this season. Perfect amount of time to let Taponen climb the junior ranks and keep the streak of having a Finn on the grid (since '87?) going.
Or another option could be for him to move teams If albon goes too Ferrari then I think bottas should go to Williams to finish his f1 career I think James would be happy too take him on again lol
@@sofiaarevalotoledo9147 really? He’s been fast especially 2022 and Spain 2023 with the crapbox he put hell of a performance on Alfa is just a bad car simple.
Lovely format. Score yourself a year from now, or right at the start of the 2025 season. Also for every point confirmed in the mean time, like LEC staying. P1 Silly Season Showdown.
he should've gotten the AT seat alongside yuki to prepare for that 2025 rb seat so he gets more experience but unfortunately red bull's pr department and marko had other ideas
I somehow believe Hulkenberg will be Sauber bound. He seemed quite fed up with Haas towards the end of last year anyway and it seems the car will be even worse this year. Given that he’s German, and still reliable, I see him as a safe bet for Audi to have him around as future driver to Sainz or Albon or whoever their big target is for 2026z
It would be very interesting to see what Daniel and Yuki can do on what will essentially be an RB19 this season. If they start winning podiums then that will really cement Checo's departure from Red Bull, maybe even before the end of the 2024 season.
The problem last year was that Red Bull where the only consistent team with Perez, Hamillton, Alonso, Leclerc, Norris, Saintz, Russel so close on points it is a question of who will break through and close in on Max. Maybe someone else. The fan favorite is Lewis Hamillton but it is a big turn around to fix a car that has gone the wrong way in Airodynamics. Leading to a complete re build that teams try to avoid. You take a car and improve little by little. Lewis will have the fair well tour and be celebrated for his achievements in F1. Maybe have a competitive run at the end but i think Ferrari will close in on the Red Bull. Fredrick Vasur will be stronger at Ferrari in his 2nd season and he will fix problems in the team for a more structured program on race day. Nothing against Lewis he is just fighting a battle he can't win.
If these predictions are counted at the end of the season, I reckon 1 point for correctly predicting stay/ move/ leave. 2 points for correctly predicting the person that takes an empty spot.
Personally it’s time for Lance to go after the end of the year, and great idea if it’s any interest to him, he should be one of the lead drivers in Aston Martin Hyper Car in 2025 for either WEC or IMSA, give that a go rather than staying midfield in F1
Zhou may get another year if Bottas is dropped/quits. The SH GP this year saw the first round of tickets sell out in literally minutes. It took a while but F1 and Zhou are gaining popularity in China... if he does a decent job he'll get another year I'm guessing.
So now Matt n Tommy write this down: Ferrari- Lewis and Charles Merc- George and Alonso Aston- Lance and Drugovitch Red Bull- Max and Daniel Visa Cash App BS- Yuki and Liam McLaren- unchanged Sauber- Valteri and Sainz Williams- Albon and Perez Haas- unchanged Alpine- unchanged
Yeah no dice on that one for now, Williams wants to move to the front and Albono is definitely aware of them being able to move forward. I dont see Alex going anywhere till at least 2028, gotta see what they can do with the new regs.
If Sainz leaves for Stake (Audi), which isn't improbable, Albon is the only available driver who would merit a Ferrari drive. You think between a Williams' contract and a Ferrari contract, he would stay with Williams? Then YOU are smoking crack.
@@fiarandompenaltygeneratorm5044 albon's had latifi and rookie sergeant as teammates and his benchmarks since he got booted from rb, it's hard to gauge his current level against a top driver like leclerc in the same team
Maybe Hülkenberg and Bottas will switch. Nico wants the Audi seat, better to get in early. Audi wants a German and Nico has had ties to the VW group. Bottas could be kicked out by that fact, and Haas will be desperate for at least one experienced driver.
Nah, I think it'ld take too much money to get Bottas to consider going to Haas...I think he'd sooner retire. Also, I think Bottas is currently driving well within his capabilities right now and that an Audi/Bottas combination would be somewhat formidable...if, Audi pull of a blinder and nail their first effort that is.
@@newsmithyoutube I think he could out class Hülkenberg though. That said, if Zhou goes and they both end up on the same team when Audi take over..it'll be fun to watch them both trying to get one up on one another either way...especially if the car is any good!
My predictions: Logan Sargeant: Leaves F1 - possible replacements in Jack Doohan, Nico Hulkenberg, Antonelli, Victor Martins, Felipe Drugovich, Zak O'Sullivan Alex Albon: Stay (moves 2026) Kevin Magnussen: Leaves F1 Nico Hulkenberg: Moves to either Ferrari (if Carlos Sainz leaves), Williams or Sauber Daniel Ricciardo: Moves to RB, replaced at VCARB by Liam Yuki Tsunoda: Stays at VCARB Valterri Bottas: Stays, leaves Sauber by 2026 and either retires or moves (likely either Alpine, Aston Martin or HAAS) Zhou Guanyu: Either leaves F1 or moves to HAAS (replaces Kevin Magnussen), if he's still in F1 by 2026 then a move up to Alpine is on the cards Pierre Gasly: Stay Esteban Ocon: Stay (leaves or moves in 2026) Lance Stroll: Stay Fernando Alonso: Stay Carlos Sainz: Stay (moves to Audi in 2026) Charles Leclerc: Stay Sergio Perez: either retires from F1 or moves to HAAS
I'm baffled both of you think Hulk is gonna stay, when he already wanted to leave for Sauber in 2024, and was only prevented from doing so by Haas taking the extra year option of his contract. My predictions: Red Bull - Max Verstappen - Daniel Ricciardo I'm going by the assumption that even if DR and YT are very even in performance, DR would be the preferred option for team dynamics and media. Mercedes - Lewis Hamilton - George Russell No reason to change this, it's a good line-up and I can't really think of any driver that'd be a 2nd driver but get the same results George will. Ferrari - Charles Leclerc - Carlos Sainz Rumours of Carlos leaving just don't make sense, personally. Carlos has been pretty much exactly where the team wants him to be: not quite on Charles' pace in qualifying but still close, and very consistent in the race. McLaren - Lando Norris - Oscar Piastri Don't change what clearly isn't broken. I don't see Lando risking being a clear 2nd driver alongside Max when his current team is making strides in all aspects. Aston Martin - Fernando Alonso - Felipe Drugovich Would be the perfect time for Lance to shift to a different racing category like WEC with Aston's Hypercar program starting in 2025, or maybe get into GT cars instead. Yuki Tsunoda could also be considered with the Honda ties, but that feels more like a 2026 move if Felipe underperforms or Fernando retires. Alpine - Pierre Gasly - Jack Doohan Pierre has already shown signs of taking over the lead driver position from Esteban, and will probably want to build Alpine up rather than moving for better individual results. I'm unsure where Esteban will end up, it'll depend on his performance. His "war mode" will decide whether he can stay in F1 or is out of a seat. Williams - Alex Albon - Franco Colapinto Williams have 2 drivers that performed very similarly in F3 (in both 2022 and 2023): Franco Colapinto and Zak O'Sullivan. Purely looking at finishing results, Franco looks more consistent. I could also easily see Checo filling this seat for 1 season if Williams want them to get 1 more season in F2 before deciding. Racing Bulls - Yuki Tsunoda - Liam Lawson Unless Yuki beats Danny Ric, I don't think there's any clear seats further up the grid, so he'll have to bide his time for 1 more year. And Liam showed that he's the only guy that 2nd seat belongs to. Sauber - Nico Hülkenberg - Théo Pourchaire Both Sauber and Nico already wanted this move for 2024, but Haas took up the option of the 2nd year. With that no longer being an issue, Nico is definitely moving to Sauber. Théo Pourchaire is the clear best candidate for the 2nd seat. Haas - Sergio Perez / Esteban Ocon - Ollie Bearman Ollie Bearman just makes a lot of sense. But for the other seat I can't decide between Checo and Esteban. It'll probably be whichever performs better. If an Andretti takeover does happen, I feel that Checo would be the preferred option (partially because he's from North America), with maybe a move to IndyCar in the future?
@@soundscape26 way too many rookies... since there is no testing it is even harder for a rookie to get a seat. I dont see how so many should get called up
Lmao this aged quite poorly. That said, here are my predictions (updated as of April 2024, between the japanese and chinese gps): VCARB: Ricciardo is 100% getting sacked lol, possibly even before summer break. Lawson will most likely take his place, then compete against Tsunoda for the '26 seat in RBR Speaking of Red Bull, Checo is definitely staying as long as he performs better than last year (he seems overall more accepting of his role as Max's wing, this time around), and he's still going to be a very coveted driver whenever he leaves (likely in '26, again depending on who performs better at VCARB) - I'd personally love to see him at HAAS or Williams. Max is obviously staying at RBR til the day he retires (not that far off into the future imho, just give him 3 or 4 more years) unless some more crazy Horner drama somehow tears the team apart and/or the car fails to be dominant in 2026 Ferrari: Leclerc/Hamilton will be a weird pairing. It's clear that Ferrari is going all in on the former and keeping the latter to sell more merch, but I can't really see the synergy between them, so I don't ultimately know how long Lewis will last there McLaren: Lando and Oscar are 100% staying. They're the youngest lineup on the grid and the second best pairing overall. Can't get much better than that, imho, all they need is better strategy to compete with Ferrari (as well as more luck against the Red Bulls, just like everyone else on the grid lol) Aston Martin: as much as I'd like to see him make room for more talented drivers, Stroll is 100% staying (possibly even in '26 and beyond) unless his father sells all stakes or he makes some major blunder/eventually gets humbled by someone other than Alonso. Speaking of Fernando, he'll be happy driving for any team, honestly. I don't think Aston strictly "needs" him anymore (especially with Sainz on the market), but he's honestly about as good of a choice as it gets (EDIT: Fernando just signed a multi-year contract to 2026 and beyond; safe to say AM is locked for a few more years) Mercedes: George stays, Lewis leaves (of course) - I hope neither Sainz nor Max are actually dumb enough to downgrade. I'd like to see a capable, unsung midfield driver here, such as Albon or Gasly, but we'll see how desperate Toto is by the end of the season Alpine: legitimately cannot predict anything about this mess of a team in its current state, lol. I think Ocon is still happy enough to be driving for them, but Gasly looks more frustrated than ever. I'm thinking he might leave for anyone other than Williams tbh Williams: Sargeant is leaving to let someone new in asap, hard but fair. Albon could ideally aim higher but he hasn't really proven worthy of better rides this year, so far. I'd personally like to see a rookie as well as an experienced, retiring driver such as Checo, Valtteri or Fernando here, but that's most definitely not happening before 2026 Sauber/Stake/AUDI: possibly the most intriguing team on the market rn. It's currently doing about as bad as it could, but all bets are off when it comes to the major Audi takeover. Sainz could very well waste one year of his life here and risk it all for the sake of a better future. Zhou is leaving either way, Bottas is reinventing himself via commercials and whatnot so I don't think he's making plans to stay, but he very well might. I believe he could even hitch a ride to Williams if he ever felt like it HAAS: Kmag is getting laid off to make room for Bearman, Hulkenberg is likely staying for another year
What on earth am i missing? New fan here, but checo was 50 points clear of Hamilton in what world would you swap DR for checo? Genuinely looking for an education on this. Second in championship second in podiums second in points and wins granted only 2 lol help!
Feel sorry for K Mag - he's a great driver with the right equipment and absolutely destroyed Schumacher in 22... yet he gets told he's crap and everyone cries that Schumacher should still have a Haas seat? 🤯 No logic.
