Predicting the Plot of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance 

It’s worth noting that some of the developers mentioned in a very recent interview that Yoko was intended to be included in vanilla V but was ultimately cut for time and such, and that she was meant to be a “Chaos coded” goddess to act as some kind of foil to Tao’s “Law coded” goddess

I’m praying that Aogami doesn’t die, but from what I’ve seen a lot of people are thinking this 😭.

I hope Vengeance tells an interesting SMT story that surpasses V's story hopefully a better Law and Chaos ending similar to strange journey

The Izanagi knowledge theory is genius and would also explain why both Baal and Zeus wanted to fuse with the protagonist considering they are both Sky Father class deities in a similar class to Izanagi. It would also make it come full circle with Megami Tensei 1 due to Nakajima being the reincarnation of Izanagi and his GF was Izanami.

Theirs a scene in the game that supports Koshi fusing with mc cause at the near final level of the original with the snow we dont see the fusion with augomi but just the mc

Yeah I also think that Aogami will die. And Yuzuru... there's this scene where one of the new demons is attacking Miyazu, she seems to survive but I think this experience is going to change him. That's also going to lead into Tsukuyomi fusing with the protagonist, because his own Knowledge is not by his side anymore. By this point I assume that Tao is dead, Dazai is with the angels and Yuzuru is not around either so the protag and Tsukuyomi are left alone and that leads to their fusion. From the dialogue given in trailers, I think something may happen to Yuzuru. Maybe he dies too, or just goes alone in his own path. But there's a line where Miyazu is very angry saying "it's your fault that this happened to my brother". I think Khonsu might want to get revenge on her behalf and that's why he attacks us this time, since the fight is different than in the original (Miyazu is there this time) And I don't know what to think about Yoko. At first I thought she was Amaterasu too. But then I started to think that since she's the catalyst of this story, maybe she's connected to Samael because I think the endgame would be his resurrection. We don't see anything about her in the endgame cutscenes either. And I don't know what to expect about Mastema either, especially since we already have Abdiel as a representative of the angels. Nuwa and Yakumo I don't expect to change much from the original.

That Yuzuru theory is interesting. In the first trailer we do see him appearing to fight Nahobino, Tao, and Yoko. I think we may have to fight him. We also see Miyazu getting kidnapped I think? That may have to do with it

I hope this game sells so well they do an Apocalypse style game and/or a SMT1(and maybe 2, if..., etc.) remake with SMT5's combat/engine/graphics.

Very great video! What I’m most interested in seeing though is the role Yakumo, Nuwa, Sahori, and Lahmu will play in the story. All 4 are still present but barely show up in promotional material, which makes me think they’ll be saved for something big but I’d like to hear your thoughts too.

V’s Mastema is suggested to take after his IV incarnation. To the point in both English and Japanese he shares his VA’s in both games. His SJ version shared his VA with Aogami instead

Oh my goodness... Your video is the first to tell me about this upcoming game. Thank you for the video. I was wondering what was coming next for SMT. Now I must learn more, and probably prepare to try and score any possible preorder bonuses.

Really looking forward to playing this one, I really hope they at least tell an interesting story this time, that was the main weakness of the game, however, the gameplay was absolute JRPG ludo, so much so I beat the game a few times using different builds, great fun.

Another point in support that the new Nahobino appearance may be a fusion of the Protagonist and Koshimizu/Tsukuyomi; in the original game, both Baal in Demeter's sidequests and Zeus before his boss battle as part of the Empyrean Key Collections mention a procedure in which one could forcibly make a human into their Knowledge. So it's possible that Aogami dies, and Tsukuyomi offers this method as a means to let us work with him to avenge Aogami.

From what I remember of OG V plot discussion, Susano-o as a character via Aogami was mostly messed up in terms of characterization (or lack thereof since he was just a yes man in the original game). With a decent chunk of people thinking his personality was acting out more like Amaterasu would at least when consulting how the two acted within their mythology. Overall not sure about her or Izanagi or even say Izanami's involvement (if we wanna bring her into the picture since she IS the goddess reincarnation that started the franchise in those novels) with the new plot esp with heavy lack of evidence on this part. The new party member slots keep slimming down more and more too there's like only 8 or so left! As for Tao and her oddness as "Panagia" she's also definitely not Amaterasu. In fact given her second form and race name, along with unused recruitable unit data she seems to be the wife of Baal, Astarte. This checks out with her minimum effort design choices of horns and wings, along with the atlus devs using the "bull god" as a talking point when addressing V being about "snake gods." Since, yknow Baal was THE bull god. And while you might think Panagia only works for addressing something in relation to the Virgin Mary, another name for her was "Queen of Heaven" and in antiquity mythologies from canaan and mesopotamia or wherever (I am unfortunately unfamiliar with these regions and religions and how to properly term them sorry!) Mother goddesses like Astarte were given this label as well. As for Mastema his main goal in monotheistic canon is to enact out the punishments upon people who've disobeyed god. And we can see him doing this to the archangels in SMTIV's DLC quests. Usually this is done while Yhvh really isn't present as a physical entity in the games from what we've seen of him so far. So what he'll do in VV is probably similar to what he's done in previous games. Also he ranked like 5th place in a demon popularity contest or somewhere high up like that ages ago during the series's 25th anniversary so there's that too. On the subject of Yoko she seems to be just really generic "bad girl but its okay because she looks chill" so I wouldn't be surprised if she has something very in line with the qaditsu going on like having lilith's knowledge which people throw around as an idea (sorry i forget what you said about her in the video for the most part). A few weeks ago though we did get like a proper inkling of characterization on her though from japanese game reviewers, who got to actually play a bit of the game it seems. Essentially all we know is that she'll be commenting on some sidequests, as she apparently has a strong distaste for Apsaras helping out those weaker than her. Ofc this is just one sidequest and she could flip flop between who she thinks is right when it comes to these but given the game's new chaos oriented story I doubt that. And that's about all I can think of off the top of my head? Hope this posts!

A few thoughts: I agree that the protagonist ought to be capable of being used as Tsukuyomi's substitute Knowledge, but for a different reason: Ba'al and Zeus already express that their mythological roots are close enough to Susano'o's for them to be able to "reshape" the protagonist to fit them. Tsukuyomi and Susano'o are brothers, and Tsukuyomi indicates that he can tell an Amatsukami's Knowledge apart from Knowledge from unrelated gods. I think that's enough to justify Tsukuyomi having the same ability to reshape the protagonist to fit him. But here's the thing that just doesn't have me sold on the new form being Protag + Tsukuyomi: Gods who become Nahobino "regain their true form", *except* Aogami, who ends up looking like the protagonist. Aogami's physical body is based on a template copied from Tsukuyomi, which to me implies that there isn't enough left of Susano'o in Aogami to have his own physical form. This is supported by Aogami saying in the tutorial fight scene that their form is based on his body, despite only having the bodysuit visually in common. All the lore points to the protagonist's appearance only being dominant because Aogami is incomplete. So here's my counter-theory: The new form is a three-way fusion between the protagonist, Aogami, and Yuzuru. When Aogami and Protagonist split after being fatally wounded by Lahmu in the base game, the protagonist doesn't move (is probably unconscious and in shock, like any human suddenly missing a large chunk of their descending aorta would be), but Aogami is still conscious enough to move for a few seconds. We also see the protagonist fading into the light in the clip between the stab wound and the new transformation. So let's say that Yuzuru and Ichiro arrive about a minute earlier than they did in the base game. What if Aogami, in some desperate move, reshapes his brother's Knowledge to add to the fusion and keep himself and the protagonist alive? That would still explain the similarities to Tsukuyomi and why they're apparently still working with him. It would also explain why Miyazu sounds like she's talking to Yuzuru in her line over the new form facing Khonsu.

My prediction is Atlus was so embarrassed by the Dazai scene that they just dont do the twist anymore . Slickback Dazai is dead along with God, and we couldn't be happier.

5:57 In the first trailer for Vengeance Yuzuru is shown in the apocalypse scene , looking shocked at it.

Its likely that Yoko is not amatarasu (sorry if thats soelt wrong) since those who signed up for the godhood guild got an early sneak peak trailer for canon on vengeance and before loading the newsletter text will show up when the page isn't fully loaded.. and managing to screenshot the tect before the video link show up describes the scene with yoko as "demons eyes glow brighter". So Yoko is more likely to be a demon

We also have a rumored PS2 mystery remaster game in the works....god I hope it is Digital Devil Saga.

Maybe Yuzuru commits Suicide after not being able to save his Sister or he becomes crazy and is a Villain later on.

My prediction is, in the canon of Vengeance, most likely YHVH won the fight, but still wants to reset the world like always and the demoness babes want some revenge, basically the opposite of canon of Creation.

i think the tsukuyomi fusion is a red herring for something else bigger because if aogami does die they made it way to obvious and i doubt a major plot point like that would just get revealed in a trailer

Currently playing SMTV and rushing through is since I borrowed the game from friend and planning to get the vengeance this year. The story was fine but seems lacking, something that lacks between that needed to fill in. Could have what smtIV had in term of contents story wise. I also like how characters just has less screen time sadly knowing their japan isn't real Also my friend I have borrowed the game from and his brother baffled I like SMT the OG! than persona series in which Persona 4 is the only one I got interest in because of Izanagi and Izanami there was a little for persona 3 too that I did some research on since I like the persona lore they have instead of the characters more unlike the mainstream fans and they're the opposite who has no interest on SMT series sadly. I'm more of and prefer smt demon lore fan than having high school theme focus game with thrills and fun.
