I had severe eclampsia. I woke up one morning and noticed that my left hand was swollen. Long story short, I delivered at 25 weeks 3 days. My sweet baby girl weighed 1 lb. 0 oz. 10 1/2 inches long. Lauren turns 10 September 1st. ♡♡♡

They caught my preeclampsia right near the end of my second trimester and had to deliver my son at 28 weeks. He was 1 lb 15 oz and he is now a happy baby boy at 8 1/2 months and over 16 lbs! 💕

I just gave birth 6 days ago. My pre-eclampsia got detected at my 39th week. My hands and feet were soooo swollen and I've been sleepless for a week due to headaches. I was on a scheduled check up when the doctor told me I had to deliver my son already. The expenses were reall high due to hospitalizations. But I can only be greatful that my baby and I are okay. Pre-eclampsia is not an easy disorder, woman should be more aware of this disorder.

Great video, I developed or preeclampsia was caught during my 36 week prenatal appointment. My blood pressure was high, but swelling was minor. I did develop pregnancy carpal tunnel syndrome a few weeks prior which drove me crazy. I was sent to L&D immediately and later induced. Baby girl was perfectly healthy 💗

Thanks for bringing awareness to this topic! I also had preeclampsia and aside from high blood pressure I had NO symptoms. My doctors seemed kind of surprised that I hadn’t gained weight and felt perfectly fine. That’s what can make it so deadly.

Currently on hospital bedrest at 30 weeks with mild preeclampsia. They considered leaving me pregnant until I told them that I have had a "behind the scenes" headache that won't go away, even with Tylenol and Fioricet. All my labs for kidneys and liver function, as we dopplar studies (blood flow between placenta) are normal. Headaches started after I started taking blood pressure meds. Praying that my blood pressure stabilizes so baby can bake longer!

Thank you for this. I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and have recently come out of a 4 day stay in hospital after being diagnosed with mild pre eclampsia. I never got swollen or puffy, but I was admitted because of severe back and stomach pains with vomiting. They checked my BP which was high and protein was found in my urine. They scanned my baby who was absolutely fine, and have let me go home on BP medication and twice weekly BP checks. I've also chosen to take early maternity leave as have a very stressful job. I feel better but still very sore and frightened. It's likely I'll be induced around the 37 week mark as well, I'm just praying that all goes ok x

you are so lucky your doctor listened to you and you got to keep your baby.

I had very high blood pressure and a lot of swelling. I also felt I was going to pass out ALL the time and saw blue "sparkles" in my vision. I just fell terrible, weak, and dizzy. I went to my doctor and she said all sounded very normal for pregnancy so I was sent home without being checked. It wasn't until I was at the hospital in labor that they realized I had preeclampsia and a placental abruption, and ended up with a hemorrhage while giving birth. I'm now pregnant again and pray for a better outcome!! I haven't had any extra monitoring but blood pressure has so far been okay!

I had postpartum preeclampsia and Hellp ... severe edema all over although they kept telling me it was normal I still had a gut feeling that something wasn't right so I checked into the ER 2 days after coming home with our son... thankfully I went and although ER doc sent me home with a diuretic and told me to prop my feet, called my OB office first thing in the morning and after he pulled my ER results he called me back that afternoon telling me I had elevated liver enzymes and he wanted to re admit me to labor and delivery where I was put on magnesium sulfate upon arrival my BP jumped to 184/96 in a matter of minutes with the worst headache of my life in the back of my head! Thank God for my intuition and the fact that I went when I did because I almost had a seizure or worse. This all happened recently and my baby boy is now 2 weeks and 3 days and each day I'm getting better although they had to change my meds from nifedipine to labetalol.. swelling is completely gone and I couldn't be happier. Ladies always remember to know your body and listen to that inner voice because it's usually almost always right. God bless you all.

I'm 2 months pregnant and just delivered my last baby a couple months before this pregnancy. my last baby was a stillbirth at 6 1/2 months because of severe preeclampsia and the doctors refused to listen to me when I told them all my symptoms and they kept telling me stupid things and saying everything was normal and sent me on my way. of course that was my first pregnancy and I didn't know how I was supposed to feel. thank you for posting this video. I think I'm getting my pregnancy carpal tunnel syndrome back and that came before the preeclampsia.

I had pre eclampsia in my first pregnancy, 2nd pregnancy I was fine, didn't have growth scans. I'm now having my 3rd child, having growth scans every month till 36 weeks. So far everything is good another 2 more scans to go. Hope you're keeping well. Xxx

Great video. Thank you for sharing your story. I've been learning about preeclampsia, and have heard stories of women having preeclampsia postpartum. From my understanding, delivering baby does not always cure preeclampsia. Just as a friendly suggestion, you might want to look into that and make sure your video reflects updated information about preeclampsia. Preeclampsia does and can still affect women after delivery, and going unchecked can kill them. It's important for women to see their OB if they have symptoms rather than going to any other doctor; and if they go to the ER, they need to let ER staff know they just had a baby.

I was very swollen but it was my first pregnancy so thought it was normal. However with my second pregnancy and son, i gained half of the weight i did with my first. So swelling, fever, high blood pressure and protein in the urine were my symptoms.

Great video!!! I'm currently 16.5 weeks. I saw the doctor yesterday for my monthly visit and he stated my baby seemed slightly small and my blood pressure was higher than normal. He did advise me that I may be at risk for preeclampsia. This is my 1st baby and that was a little unnerving, but I was reassured that healthy babies are born all the time to mothers with preeclampsia. The doctor told me I should begin taking baby aspirin or aspirin with a dosage of 81MGs...one pill per day. He stated there have been studies shown that this can greatly decrease preeclampsia symptoms and help regulate the pregnancy. He has been a ObGyn for over 30 years which is also reassuring. I had blood work done also so hopefully when my results come in, I dont get any additional potentially risky news😬

Magnesium is a key to avoiding the risk of developing preeclamcia

I just gave birth to my baby (fist time mom) at 26 weeks and 5 days due to preeclampsia. I have never had any problems with blood pressure or anything of any kind and during my pregnancy I was really taking care of myself. But it happened really fast and unexpectedly. I started feeling very hard headaches from day to days, and at sone point some days i would see very very blurry. I went to my doctor got my blood pressure checked, they said everything was fine. The next week I went to the Gynecologist told him my symptoms ( never even knowing that there was such thing as preeclampsia ). He said its normal, two days after I was so abnormally swollen that my colleague suggested that I go get myself check at the hospital. When I arrived there , they took me in immediately and started running some test, they said that they did not see anything wrong in my urine ( no loss of protein ) but the blood pressure is a little high, so they would like me to stay for observation of it’s not beginning of preeclampsia. By the next day the doctors ran the same test and they saw that I was not only loosing protein really fast but that the blood pressure medications where also not helping. They gave me steroid shots for the babies lungs just incase and hoping for the best to keep the baby as-long as possible but at a point my lungs started to fill with fluid, I started feeling a pressure in my chest, and also the baby heart beat was not to the Gynecologist liking. Two days after on 9nov17 they did an emergency C-section. And the doctor said had they not did it when they did my baby wouldn’t have made it. I gave birth to a premature baby but she is strong. I rather have it gone like it did then any other way.

I'm 21 weeks, and am having signs. I'm scared.. but my Dr is def. Keeping an eye on it.. my blood pressure is good, thou 🤷

I had preeclampsia at 24 weeks. Went in to get a check up and blood pressure was high. I eventually had to deliver my baby at 28 weeks 3 days gestational. Baby came out weighing 2lbs 5oz.

Thank you for sharing your experience! My blood pressure has been creeping up since 30 weeks and I am now being monitored closely. So far, my blood work has been coming back normal so it seems everything is ok for now, but I am getting blood work done every week to catch anything.

I've had 6 Babies already and in none of those pregnancies did I ever have preeclampsia. So I've never really worried about it. But now I am pregnant with twins and I'm fixing to turn 40. So having multiples and advanced age I'm at a high risk for it and so now I'm freaking out about it. Thank you for sharing your experience! It has given me info I need and helped calm my nerves! ❤️

My kids were delivered at 30 weeks and 32 weeks. My daughter was 4lbs and my son was just under 6lbs, perfectly healthy. I was diagnosed in my 7th month with both.

Great video to raise awareness Ysis! My cousin had this and had to have her baby delivered at 27 weeks, luckily they were both ok but she has been advised to not have anymore as she got so poorly! xx

Baby No. 3 and had preeclampsia start at 12 weeks (currently 26 weeks) Preparing to have baby sooner then 37 weeks, I had preeclampsia with my other two just not this early on in pregnancy.

At my 30 week check up, they discovered I had high BP, protein in my urine, and I just generally felt bad (extremely lightheaded and weak). I didn’t really think anything of it because everyone says how awful the third trimester is in general, but then I started seeing spots (very occasional, maybe three times a day) and my OB admitted me to the hospital and I found that I had already started having contractions! I was sent home and will continue to be monitored weekly. Listen to your bodies ladies!

I had pre eclampsia at 37 weeks also. My ankles and feet were so swollen I couldn't wear shoes. I felt terrible. Weak with headaches. Was admitted to hospital to be induced and to be on blood pressure tablets. My bloods came back bad. Elevated liver and kidney enzymes. Spent 3 days being induced. Was just about to have my waters artificially broken untill the midwife realised the baby was breech via internal exam so scan so they scheduled me for a c section the next morning so I spent all night in pain due to the induction gel they gave me. Good thing the medication didn't work as I would have gave birth to a breeched 9 pound 3 ounce baby in a hospital with no staff with that kind of experience. 🤦🤦🤦🤦. Blood pressure stabalised soon after baby was born. Not a nice experience so please rest up if your prego and drink plenty of water to avoid stress

My wife is going through this at the moment. I’m devastated because since the start of her pregnancy, everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong. She is 22 weeks pregnant and she lost vision from her left eye for about 15 minutes a couple of days ago. I drove her to hospital and they told her she has preeclampsia. She doesn’t have high blood pressure but her platelet count has been dropping a lot the past few days. She’s now in hospital, trying to make it at least to the 26th week but at this point, I’m not keeping my hopes high. She’s been having issues since week 8 when she started bleeding. They said she had an hematoma, she bled on and off ever since and at week 17, they saw that the amniotic fluid was lower and that her placenta was quite big compared to the norm. Now, at 22 weeks and dealing with this shit on top of everything else. I feel so sad and the worst thing is I can’t do anything about it to help. Honestly, it’s been such a bad experience for us, I don’t think we would try having children again. This is way too much

it was similar experience for me as well. from 33 week of my pregnancy i started to show some signs of preeclampsia. i did not have swelling right away but i had protein in my urine and also high blood pressure. But at that point i also had urine infection so my doctor was thinking that i had protein because of infection. So i was sent home whit blood pressure medication. But all that time i had feeling something is wrong.And i was going back to the hospital because of my feeling. Every time i was sent back home again, whit advice that if my blood pressure is still high i come back again. So i did at 36 weeks of pregnancy In that moment i also had some pain on my right side, and i had some dots in my eyes . And that time doctors so that i had severe preeclampsia, that my baby's growth is under then what should be, so i was induced. After my delivery my doctor said to me that it was good thing that i was listening to my gut feeling, and come back to the hospital. My baby had respiratory distress and needed some help whit breathing, but other than that he was ok. We went home 10 days after delivery. I learned from my experience that you should always listen to your gut feeling, even though you may feel crazy going so many time in hospital and doctors tell you all is ok..

I just got diagnosed with preeclampsia, at 34 weeks. Dr. Said they will monitor me twice a week and induce in 37 weeks. I am so scared, this is my first baby and just hoping everything goes well.

Super awesome video!! I loved it! So many people are unaware ! I've had gestational hypertension since 28 weeks, so they've been closely monitoring me with 2 appointments a week. Until delivery! Just to catch preclampsai if it develops.

I was diagnosed with pre eclampsia at 39 w and was induced that day. Mine was mild form. I had lots of swelling in my third trimester but there was never protein in urine and my BP was always fine. Protein was spotted at my 38 w appointment and the did blood work to find out. BP was completely normal. So yeah, make sure you go to your appointments. Because luckily they spottednit before things got worse.

From the second trimester on I felt extremely 'blackout' dizzy about 20+ times a day. I actually fainted 2 times during my pregnancy while sitting at the kitchen table once and at the desk another time both times my dog was the only one there and I woke up to her kissing my face. At 35 weeks my bp spiked from 110/50 to 140/90, I was induced a week after the bp spike at 36 weeks. My son was basically perfect though we stayed in the nicu for a week with high bilirubin and until he gained a lil weight. I was put on bp meds after labor and remained on them for a year until my bp was normal.

I had preeclampsia at 37 weeks with all symptoms .my baby boy born with 1.850 kg weight. But he was ok with health . Now he is 4 yrs school going kid

I'm 38w and my entire pregnancy I've had a bit elevated blood pressure so every time I go in they check my urine for protein. I just went in yesterday for my app. I had protein in my urine so I have to do 24hr urine collection and when I turn that in I'm also going to get blood drawn and if they find something wrong like too much protein in my urine they are going to induce me either that day or the next day . I've gotten swollen feet, hands, lips randomly for about 3weeks now I have also seen colorful spots flying everywhere in my vision. As far as growth my baby is doing fine.

Smh.. I'm 39w and have marginal placenta previa and just found out today I may have preeclampsia too on top of that due to prehypertension, spotting in vision or times when I get really dizzy and lose my vision/hearing, headaches and feel like I'm going to faint. I have to take a 24hr urine test where I pee in a large container for a full day, keep the container refrigerated, and then turn it in the day after followed by a blood test. My sister had preeclampsia and almost lost my niece because of it. She had to have an emergency C-section.. I'm so scared 😞😟

I developed preeclampsia during my first pregnancy. I was swollen, however this summer was a very hot one so that could have expalined the swolleness. At my 28 weeks appointment, I did not have any protein in my urine, so my Oby/Gyn did not think it was preeclampsia. Unfortunately 3 days later I developed high blood pressure and my kidneys started failing. So they had to proceed with an emergency c-section at 29 weeks on june 19 2018. Baby weighed 1300 grams. Quite unfortunately for me she developed a preemie condition at 6 weeks known as necrotizing enterocolitis (basically means necrosis of the intestine) which led to her passing a week later.

Can you have preeclampsia without swelling? My doctor is keeping an eye on me and put me on bp meds. I've had a lot of the symptoms but no swelling. It seems like thats a pretty common symptom.

I found out my blood pressure was high 35 appointment but I knew I had protein in my urine before this but it was not accompanied with blood pressure so it was fine now I might get induced at 37 weeks if at my appointment it’s still high

currently here after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes a few weeks ago and now am showing symptoms my baby has been small all the way along despite the GD but i have had a constant headache, dizzy spells, stars or colour in the corners of my eyes especially when i blink, racing heart, nausea (i havent had nausea even in my first trimester) the runs, i feel just genuinely unwell and im getting a little bit of swelling on my arms and hands so after this video and seeing this im going into the hospital today) thank you x

I had pre eclampsia the moment I will delivered my baby boy via sked CS. I got a very hgh blood pressure. The dctors r very worried. And Thank God I delivered well but the baby is so small and low of sugar. Now im 9 weeks pregnant. And Im afraid to suffer pre eclampsia again😔

Did your second baby have good birth weight too? I too had gestational hypertension thinking about second one a little worried about the birth weight since the first was less than normal.

I'm 34 weeks and my bp has slowly been creeping up. I left l&d tonight. They said everything was okay. My feet and hands are also super swollen and as well they found a very small trace of protein. I think I'm getting it, I just haven't been diagnosed with it.

I’m 25 weeks and was just diagnosed with preeclampsia. My doctors think it started at 18-19 weeks due to how bad It’s getting. Good thing though is they were already gonna induce me at 36 weeks anyway.

I never had any symptoms and now I just looked at my discharge papers and I see the diagnosis on there. No one ever even said anything.

Wonderful video. 31 weeks with #2. I swelled with my first one, but everything was normal. I'm having major swelling with this one, however. None of my shoes fit from the swelling and my hands are so swollen that the pain wakes me up every night and stays for hours. Blood pressure is normal, though. Confused.

At about age of 1 month my first son’s one arm was shaking (secizures) then we took him to the ER that’s when the doc found out that my bb was having pre calciumia bcoz I was having pre calciumia then he had to be on calcium and vitamin d for a while alhumdulliah he was recovered within a month or 2. Then my ds2 is prefectures fine thank for reminder I will talk to my nurse about this pregnancy calcium as well

I'm now 34+3 weeks and I've developed quite high blood pressure, 145/95 last Thursday. At 25 weeks it was 110/65. I'm also quite swollen round my ankles, feet and hands, especially on my left side. My midwife also detected some protein in my urine, not a lot though, it has remaind the same level since week 32+4 as has my bloodpressure. I'm now scheduled to take blood flow ultrasounds regularly, I've made one which showed the blood flow in the placenta to be normal, but my vessels apparently is a bit narrow. I feel just fine, apart from some mild headaches in the nights and occasionally I've had some spots 'dancing' in my perifial vision. I'm being told to rest A LOT, no stress and am scheduled for checkups.

It's better to be on the safe side, that's why I spent the last 2 months of my pregnancy going to hospital almost every week hhhhhh

Thank you for sharing your experience! I just got diagnosed with preeclampsia at 33 weeks and my ob said I might have to deliver at 37 weeks . I do have mild preeclampsia my BP is borderline high, I have pretty bad swelling on my hands,feet and face and from time to time headaches. I found out I had it when I went to the hospital for some spotting and ended up with preeclampsia. I’m happy they caught it rn rather than later. I am overweight rn too so I’m trying my best at this point to walk everyday. I too felt crazy going every month to the hospital for something but I’m Glad I went that day since the bleeding went away I thought it was nothing and wasn’t going to go. The ultrasound doctor told me my baby is weighing in at 4lbs 12oz I think that’s small for 33 weeks tho :/ They also found liquid in her brain and I’m not sure if that’s due to the preeclampsia 🤔

Really great video..I had delivered my 1st Baby at 34 weeks. That time my BP was high and doc immediately admitted me and operated. I recently got to know about Pre eclampsia as I am planning for a 2nd Baby in my head. But after learning about the risk factors I am not sure if I should go ahead with 2nd Pregnancy. I'm worried because I'm 35 weeks now and I've been having severe numbness and tingling in my arms and hands while laying down or sleeping on either side for a few weeks now, but its getting worse and stays throughout the day now and is getting more painful. He doctors said that my blood pressure was going up and down and then staying level. I'm just slightly more swollen but not too bad. I've been having the headaches though and sudden random dizziness. They haven't checked my urine in a while but I'm worried that they're overlooking things and just telling me that I'm having normal pregnancy symptoms. They just tell me that my numbness is from carpal tunnel, which doesn't feel right because it's on both sides whichever side I lay on for any period and last throughout the day now, it feels like a circulation issue and starts in my shoulders, not my wrists...

I am watching this today, but it’s too late now, my sister suffered from it and we were not aware of it. I feel so bad to know this. I couldn’t help my sister . We have lost the baby girl. My sister was 28 weeks pregnant. All this happened on 19th November 2022…. I’m broke

Did your swelling and headaches come and go? My blood pressure is high when it’s really low normally, I’ve had it taken at the pharmacy today because I’ve had a headache that feels like I’m hanging my head upside down, floaters and finding it hard focus my vision, and have had sudden swelling for the last 2 nights but then it’s gone down by the morning so not sure if it’s just pregnancy related swelling? I’ve rang the out of hours pregnancy unit and they’ve dismissed me said I’ll be fine but I’m worried and don’t feel right.

Does your Dr gave any precautionary injection during 6 months pregnancy to stop preeclampsia? Does it effect on baby development?

I got swollen feet now, 37 weeks and 2cm already.. blood pressure is normal but i got protein in my urine and the doctor prescribed me a medication.. all is good so far, but i dont know about my urine.. i hope to deliver normally and with a healthy baby.. what else should i do? I don't want tk have pre eclampsia 😭

Thank you dear, it was very useful to hear,👐 however I am still not sure what to do. I have low PaP-A protein in my blood. So the placenta needs to work harder to nurture my little babay. (Week 14 now) I had none of the other symptoms really. And I have been put on 150mg aspirin. This is the UK, England, btw. 😒 Occasionally I have strong headaches. Twice in 2 weeks now. I am waiting to see the obstetrician as now I was told to do a bit more checks and scans at the hospital. I really don't want to take medication while pregnant, especially that my baby should be alright in size so far. Not sure. I work from home as an admin, sitting a lit, I believe some time off would help me increase my anyway low blood pressure, and circulation in the placenta. But Im just waiting to see doc. to discuss it. I read research from US about preeclamsia and low dose apsirin but no evidence that islt help with people with moderate risk factors, they rather delivery fine anyway. Since they told me to take Aspirin (which Im not doing), I am just more worried, I have no longer nice dreams with my baby, as used to have prior that announcement. I do meditation for anxiety again, and I pray to god and the universe to help my baby and me to stay healthy and safe. ❤😊

hi I'm bernadette, i was diagnosed with preeclamsia severe. I experienced swelling and feeling numb on. my womb, but few days after, i delivered my baby but it sad to say he died already. I just want to ask why my stomact is still feeling numb?

Can you have it without any part of your body getting swollen I been having headaches everyday and don’t feel good also nauseous

Helloo am jaina..last year i was pregnant ..i have nt any idea i got preeclampsia..even severe doctors didnt found it ..they was saying water retention..weight blood pressure..than am eating too much salt..etc.. finally they did cs with me on 7 months n my baby girl die..after 1 day it was on november 2019. Till now my hand n feet get swolen some time specially when am near my period .i have nt been able to wear my heal shoes for eork again..am very worry ..last time i visit an another geneco for a check up.. He confirm me..everything is ok inside me and he ask me to start taking folic acid 2 / 3 months before i start planning again n i can get pregnant in the next six months.. normally in june 2020. And he will put me on aspirin during the pregnancy if i get any symtom...Am worry if this swolen am having right now will not affect me.. again.
