My Dads Pitbull did this a few years ago. It was her first (and only) litter, we thought she was fixed (that's what we were told by the guy who gave her to us) but apparently our miniature poodle figured out that she was NOT fixed... After pup number 5 came out she was so exhausted she stopped cleaning the puppies and we started having to do it so they wouldn't suffocate. She had 8 in total but one was stillborn, so we had 7 puppies 💛 They were all adorable and I kept one for myself and hes SUPER adorable. He looks like a pitbull with poodle fur 😂

I was thinking the same thing about her being so chill with it ahaha, my cats have often not sat still unless I was with them when they gave birth, it's a pain but also at least you know they like you around

I had this happen to me, she eventually drowned it in the water dish away from all of the other babies

We have that alot with our guinea pigs. When that happens my mom will usually take the runt, feed it and try to get them to drink from their mother

That's common for cats, they have kittens at a rapid pace because they're smaller. That doesnt mean they're neglecting their babies, it just means she wont be in pain whilst cleaning her babies and will be able to clean them properly. They make sure they can breathe ofc too

When I was younger I was asleep and I woke up in the middle of the night to my cat right above my head on my pillow trying to give birth right near my head In a few years later I had another cat and I was sleeping on my couch and I woke up covered in after birth because my cat had crawled behind me on the couch and gave birth right on my back sadly though those kittens didn’t make it because they were premature but yeah I was soaked in after birth and Amniotic fluid

I was told when cats do that it’s because they see you as their biggest source of protection

Jennifer Davis Oh and when my cat had the premature kittens on my back she wasn’t finished giving birth And no one else was awake and I was like seven years old so I was sitting on the chair and she jumped on my lap and started to have one but since it was premature it was already dead and I moved my leg and it fell on the ground and my evil step mother told me it was my fault the kitten died and that I should be ashamed of myself Even though I was barely old enough to understand what was going on and the kitten had came out dead to begin with

Sometimes when a cat doesn't pay attention to the kitten she just gave birth to it means that somethings wrong with the kitten and it may not survive. That's what happened when my cat had kittens. She completely ignored the 3rd kitten born and it died within minutes and then 2 days later rejected another one which also died.
