The Tigers landed a spot in the 2017 Toyota AFL Grand Final after a 36-point win over the Giants. For more video and news as it breaks, head to afl.com.au
Even after all these years - and even after it was caught on camera - I have yet to hear a commentator or anyone one RU-vid mention how, at the end of the game, Trent Cotchin ran half the length of the ground to commiserate with Brett Deledio, who was understandably gutted. What a class act Cotchin is.
still to this day the moment Trent Cotchin ran to the bench after arguably the toughest few moments from a captain will always be to me one of the greatest moments of footy for me
I was in the crowd as a tigers fan and it was incredible. We were just around from the GWS cheer squad and even in there, there were plenty of tigers fans. I heard that if you signed up to be a GWS member for 2018 it gave you access to tickets for this game and there were plenty of tigers supporters GWS members in 2018 😂
@@saucybrethren6953 22,000+ spare seats absolutely pathetic woahh Is Collingwood still pretending to be the biggest club in Melbourne and Australia? Obviously not by any measure.
@@truefunksoul8638 the reason there were a lot of supporters at that game was because it was the first prelim you had played in in 37 years mate, Collingwood make the finals all the time so its just like any other year mate. We hold the all time yearly crowd turnout record of all time in 2010 having 1,600,000 supporters go to our games that year and an average of 60,000 supporters a game which is the all time record. Ricmonds highest yearly turnout is 1,300,000 and that year we weren't even that good and we got 1,100,100. These are proper statistics because look at all the afl crowd turnout tables. Literally in 2010 we played you guys and all the richmond supporters that turned up were in the cheer squad (watch the game) and the rest of the stadium was filled up with 70,000 magpies fans. Yes you guys are the second most popular VFL team but we are the top overall in popularity ever since we were established. Don't get me wrong I loved watching this game and the atmosphere was incredible and I am happy for you guys. Also I go for the Cats so I'm just stating non Biased facts.
A crowd has never been that loud because never in the history of the game has there been such a one sided crowd. There would have been at least 90,000 Richmond fans there. It was deafening inside the ground.
This was my very first and indeed the best Preliminary Final that I've ever been to in person, along with my best friend and my cousins this was and always will be my all time favourite moment. We were indeed seated one row behind the Richmond Tigers Football club Cheer Squad and OMG, it was indeed so loud and so passionate. It's the best football experience that I'll never forget. 😊 😊 🏈🏈🐯🐯🐅🐅
And even in COVID-affected 2020 we've got a pulse. We've activated the second chance, think we're a hot chance against the Saints but nothing a given. It's a trial by fire from there regardless. I have faith, Go Tiges.
He had to leave. Simply a selfless act, because we needed the younger players. In the end, he did what was best. I can’t imagine how he feels to not be in yellow and black after the granny. Hopefully he can return the the tiges at the end of his career
That entire game was absolutely nuts but I’ve got to admit, that Kane lambert goal within the first 10 seconds of the game is hands down the loudest I’ve ever heard a crowd. Its actually crazy how loud that goal was
Grundy's goal in the 2018 prelim was louder than that it was recorded at 126 decibels I read this on the newspaper a day after it happened, how amazing the atmosphere is for both clubs richmond and collingwood.
Soccer is the greatest sport on Earth and is massive in over 240 countries. Every country on Earth loves Soccer. Afl is only big and relevant in 4 Australian states. Its a minority sport in Qld, NSW and ACT. Soccer will be the number 1 sport in Australia by 2050 and every country on Earth by 2100 rsgv
My favourite goal was the Dan Butler goal at the end beautiful and I’m a proud Richmond Tigers supporter Trent Cotchin played a beauty and just saying Richmond are playing Port Adelaide in the prelim and even if we lose I’m so proud of these boys they have been outstanding for the last 4 years and I hope we can keep it up GO THE TIGESSSS 🟡⚫️🟡⚫️ 🐯🐯🐯
I love this tough brand of football displayed by the tiges. I was saying all this season, get some physicality into it, it goes a long way. Cotchin, just incredible. And I wish Rioli would get some of his confidence back.
@M AFL/VFL is by far the biggest sport in the world per capita. The record crowd at the MCG for a VFL Grand Final far exceeds any other world record when considering the population of Victoria at the time. The percentage of the population at that game, when looking at Australia's total population, was off the charts. But you wouldn't know anything about that because ignorance is bliss, ay.
@M the population of Brazil in 1950 was almost 55 million. The population of Australia in 1970 was just 12.5 million. The Australian attendance smashes the 1950 world cup. Per capita, do you know what that means? Do the mathematics. For an equivalent crowd per capita, it would mean there would need to be around 529 thousand people at the world cup.
I just discovered this brutal game and it's huge entertainment. So that's the giant Coliseum all around, and these are the gladiators. The commentators don't say "he tackled him" they say "he got him."
Not yet actually, I'm still trying to figure out a way to watch it online for free lol. I have our full package on TV and still can't find anything that resembles this sport. Seems like a fun sport to watch. I love rugby so I'm sure ill love this too.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!! HOPE WE BEAT THE CROWS IN THE GRAND FINAL!! BTW I'm really excited because I'm going to watch Richmond play Port Melbourne in the VFL grand final😄😄
Now I can finally say it, but I wasn't one of the many, many people who were declaring Greater Western Sydney certainties to win this year's premiership 6 months ago, 12 months ago, or at various stages throughout this season. Come to think of it, what do GWS and Geelong both have in common? Neither of them are capable of beating quality opposition either interstate or away from home, that's why both of them have ended up being Preliminary Final losers.
They've basically never done anything yet and I've never rated them either with overpaid and overhyped stars everywhere who go missing when the real heat is on. You can add the Crows to that list. What have they actually done away from Adelaide in terms of achievements as a team in the last few years? Nothing.
U blokes it's not an achievement for Richmond to make the GF. It's called IMPROVEMENT coz they finish 13th last season. An achievement is if u win something like an award. Anyway what an improvement Richmond. But I'm backing the Crows. I never back a Victorian clubs except Collingwood. Swans 4 Life dawg.
Kernel's crazy Adventure ive come from the future using my istone after North Korea destroyed the planet, ive come to tell you GWS once again messed up even worse but in a grand final against richmond
Good on'ya tiges! You've finally proved your critics wrong! Not so hilarious now, is it? C'mon tiges, silence those critics for good! (Bloods supporter).
Wouldn't gws love to beat the great Richmond tigers who now rule the AFL in a grand finale , kept them out of the 2017 grand finale and humiliated them in the 2019 grand finale .oh it's wonderful to be an arrogant tiger supporter again.feels good
