The story goes that Rachmaninoff wrote this piece because of a dream, in which he was at a funeral, and in the distance was a coffin. At <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="97">1:37</a> he begins walking towards the coffin, going faster and faster...and finally at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="148">2:28</a> he opens the coffin and finsd himself inside.
