Hi, I believe the best thing that I can do is to recommend Gary Robinson (Accomplished Irish kayaking angler). You can contact him on his website link - kayakfishermanireland.com/author/garyrobinson/ He is a fantastic guy, very helpful, and one who is much more qualified than I when it comes to kayaking. For what it's worth the kayak I use is a Wilderess system ride 115x. I feel comfortable travelling 3/4miles before u-turning back for the original launch point. This is mainly done in flat seas, sun and no wind I might add. I've a big frame and the kayak suits my weight and strength. I can comfortably paddle the sluggish but very stable craft to an acceptable cruising speed once I get it moving. I'm not saying or recommending this kayak is for you. You should contact Gary (above^) or someone that is qualified to give an opinion. Go to a shop where you can try out any model to find the one that is more tailored to your needs. You're taste in kayaks will probably change in time, but not to worry you can always trade it in for another. There are many other factors to think about (cost, weight of kayak, distance you want to cover, and other safety features to mention a few.) My humble advice is take your time to do the proper research, ask questions, and buy wise. I hope this is of some help. I wish you well on your travels, happy hunting to you!
