I appreciate the pros, cons, and thoughts on this topic. I'd love to read the entirety of claremont but don't have enough shelf space. Would you please share your suggestions as to a couple stopping points that conclude well within the claremont era? I thought potentially as early as Uncanny Vol 3 omni, but want to consider another point further along.
The way I look at Claremont his run is continous all the way up to the early 90’s you could jump off perhaps after an event. The other option if space is an issue Marvel Unlimited I have that as well and read constantly bear in mind if you want to only focus on that era don’t look at anything else lol. X-men is my main focus but on there I read anything from Spider-Man complete run to Thor etc 😂 I started with that 9 years ago 🤣
Would reading just the uncanny x-men omni line, which omits x-factor, make the stories less fulfilled? Is having the x-factor content more enjoyable or essential?
Perhaps I mean it is only 9 issues you are missing but you perhaps understand what this team is about but in reality you know the characters. If I was not a completist I would say that the prelude holds more value in content instead of the Uncanny X omnibus, but if you are getting the X-Factor Omnibus and have the UXM5 you could skip this and remember this is the lead up in the event, let me know what you end up doing.
This is obviously a way for Marvel to make extra money. I was upset when I heard about the PRelude book and decided to hang on to UX 5 en XF Epic Collection 1. Now that it is here, I caved (not unexpectedly)... but I decided to sell UX 5 and XF Epic 1. It hurts a little to let go of my BWS DM cover, but UX 5 has become a completely superfluous book.... and shelf space is scarce ;-)
Agreed I hear you mate, the annoying thing is they simply could have added it into UCX 5. Even thou I have both UXM & XF am still getting this for ease of reading and if you have the books after you have 95% of X-factor run along side X-men. I will still keep UXM and XF as the next volume will happen keeping them defined. In reality I could just skip this but part of me really wants it for some crazy reason lol I have never seen Marvel make such a money grabbing move like this before hopefully it is just a one off.
I have all of the X-Men Omnis that have been released from Silver Age Vol. 1 through Age of Apocalypse, which is where my collection stops. Marvel tricked me into buying Uncanny Vol. 5, which I will be selling to pick up Mutant Massacre Prelude, which is the book I wanted all along. Those early issues of X-Factor are objectively horrible comics and I'm surprised Marvel is releasing X-Factor Vol. 1 on the same day as the obviously superior MM Prelude. Feels like some kind of hubris from Marvel.
Agreed very strange but there is always those that would like their Uncanny kept together and those that like events but simply they could have just put those issues in the Vol 5 Uncanny X-Men. Good shout on selling and getting this I think lots of folks out. Strangely am keeping both lol
@@smerdp I'd be more inclined to hang on to Uncanny 5 if Marvel hadn't shrunk the font on the spine, so looks like it doesn't belong in my collection. 😃
@@edwardmemwah1610 agreed that really annoyed me and messed up how my collections looks, very annoying and frustrating especially for those that had been collecting for years supporting these releases
