Here is some additional info: The term fornication used by Paul in Corinthians is a translation of the Greek (N.T. written in the Greek language) word "porneia" which refers to any illicit sexual intercourse (Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words). This word comes from another Greek root word (Porne) which was the word used to describe a prostitute. - MM

BibleTalk.tv While That May be true if Vine is correct in his broad interpretation of the word, the authors were Jewish and native Hebrew speakers who would have been thinking of the Hebrew concept. Indeed, under the Old Law, what was called fornication would cause a woman to lose her virgin status. Whatever causes loss of that status when she was examined, was forbidden as fornication, which prostitution would fall under. Again, many other things are also condemned and named specifically. Just wanting to be precise in our vocabulary. The only thing called “Sex” in the Bible is intercourse and your definition can be construed as overly broad.
