So what will you learn in the full video?
►In this great one-on-one lesson from 2010 (!) at our old Premier Fitness school, GM Perkins starts by showing how to fold (pocket) and disrupt vs the enemy’s strike.
►He shows various ways to exert downward pressure on vulnerable areas to both disrupt their balance and deliver follow up strikes with the enemy now far more vulnerable. The enemy’s resistance to the pressure actually makes it worse. Note: there’s no locking or grappling going on, just penetrating strikes.
►What’s great here is John lets his student move and then gently guides him to explore movement options he might not otherwise have found.
►John is not blocking; he’s absorbing and moving in. If they pull on you, you can use that to move in further and strike since they’re expecting you to resist and pull back (Push their Pull).
►Note how John has isolated balance such that he can hit and pocket while balancing on one foot and kicking with the other.
