@@zxr8ii The word "soccer" was in fact the most common way of referring to Association football in the UK until around the 1970s, when it began to be perceived incorrectly as an Americanism. Just thought you'd like to know this little nugget.
AFC-Zain A recent paper by University of Michigan professor Stefan Szymanski says the Brits are partly to blame. The word "soccer," which is believed to have originated in Britain some 200 years ago, comes from the official name of the sport, "association football." As other versions of the game evolved to include Rugby Football, it is believed the Brits adopted colloquialisms to distinguish each game. "The rugby football game was shortened to 'rugger,' a term recognized in British English to the present day, and the association football game was, plausibly, shortened to 'soccer'" Szymanski writes. (Apparently ending words in "er" was a fad back then.)
i admit in the 80's Chelsea were in the second division but in the 70's they won a european up against Real madrid , in the 60's and 50's they won few league cups , the 90's was the best decade for Chelsea before the Abramovic era . What most people don't know Chelsea won trophies before the arrival of Abramovic , you can't say that the history of Man city is similar to Chelsea
I mean at one point Elon Musk had to ask his friends for money to SUPPORT HIS FAMILY because he put all of his money into saving Tesla. But look where he is now. An absolute legend
@@jetscheme2125 Bro Elon Musk had a vision and was creating something for the future while Anil Ambani is pumping money into his dead telecom business to stay relevant.
Yes and no. If someone has 10 bilion he can invest he will have better players , coaches, scouts , staff ect. 100 Milion euros is not the same as 500 milion euros. Also, there are owners who are focused on Yuth academy and profit and there are owners who want trophys, marketing money, bonuses and glory. Monaco has rich owner but they focus on yuth while PSG buys all the stars they want. (yes i know that PSG has way mor emoney but monaco's owner is super rich also). Rennes owner in france is maybe one of the richest man in the world but he still doesnt invest big money into the club by buying stars. Deportivo La corunia has also ultra rich owner and they are in the second tier in spain. There are many more, few months ago i found a article with a list of the richest owners of football teams in europe. You will be amazed how many mid table/lower clubs have ultra rich owners but they just dont invest in stars...
Number 10: It happens every time (except once when Patrice Motsepe bought Mamelodi Sundowns in 2004) in South Africa's PSL when there's a takeover. The teams history disappears to thin air. PSL era started in '96/'97 season. Most recently Platinum Stars changed changed to Cape Umoya then moved from Mafikeng/Rusternburg to Cape Town leaving Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex, a 40000* seater without a Premier League football team. Mpumalanga Black Aces was changed to Cape Town City then moved to Cape Town. Leaves fans and team staff stranded. I wish after this Corona South African football would be reformed to proper professional football teams that have employees. Mamelodi Sundowns, Supersport United, Bidvest Wits(if they own Milpark, good for them), Stellenbosch, Ajax Cape Town, Cape Town City, Black Leopards, Maritzburg United* are supposed to have their OWN stadia instead of renting municipality stadia. Platinum Stars had their OWN stadium back when they existed because they were owned by that the Royalty of the Bafokeng who also OWNS the Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex. This thing of a team playing "home games" away should come to an end in South African football. Kaizer Chiefs, a Johannesburg team, playing in Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town or Moses Mabhida in Durban. Unhappy soccer fan from South Africa. ...can the FA also ease up on South African player's work permit. Have you forgotten about Lucas Rhadebe, Benni McCarthy, Andrew Surman*, Kagiso Dikgacoi, Steven Pienaar, Quinton Fortune, Aaron Mokoena, Mbulelo Old John Mabizela and all those preseason friendlies?
Yep as a City fan I sort of agree, this league table show's if teams had money they could compete and as you quoted one of those people that wanted to take over clubs have to start somewhere. Unfortunately it's because of money that's true.
12:08 oh when the saints will get money, oh when the saints will get money. we'll win it all, we'll have our talents, oh when the saints will get money.
You just can't compare Chelsea to City. Before Abramovich...Chelsea had Zola, Gullit, Weah, Poyet, Terry, Lampard, Desailly, Gudjohnsen, Vialli, Lebouef, Bridge, Di Matteo, and had just won the super cup. City lost 8-1 to fucking Middlesborough before Mansour.
Tbh if rb took over a club in England it wouldn't be huge name signings I suspect them to go the same route as leipzig and focus on youth and underrated talents
To be fair to Bolton they at least have new owners who despite the clubs inevitable relegation to league 2 have clearly made a difference. I think they'll be alright and may even return to the top flight in the next 10 years. (Liverpool fan here).
Red Bull were heavily linked to be interested in West Ham too. With the already solid youth investment that would go through the roof, as well as someone at the top who knows where to invest their money rather than throwing it at whoever caught their eye on a thursday night, I'd say they could move up the table nicely.
12:50...if not sheikh Mansour....a takeover was bound to happen...if it were someone else..we would be like Sheffield United every season. I mean...hunting for UCL
The difference between Chelsea and most clubs that got took over is before they were took over they actually had talented players and were a top 4 club before the take over
England - Chelsea France - PSG Spain - Real Madrid Italy - Lazio or Roma Germany - Hertha or Union Berlin Poland - Legia Warszawa Serbia - Red Star Belgrade Denmark - Copenhagen Russia - CSKA or Lokomotiv Moscow Monaco - AS Monaco Netherlands - Ajax Amsterdam
City bought millions of players, and still got beaten to the league by a team with a shoe string budget by premier league standards in 2015-16 - anything can happen in football, money does not always mean success.
Nice concept but how rich an owner is isn't really a measure of how successful the club will be just because they are rich does not mean they will invest and even if they do we have seen alot of clubs spend big and not really improve alot
