Great explanation of the whys and hows of the details regarding a tall target test. I found that it was VERY important to know the distance from the scope to the target. I ended up using a 100' tape measure and some spikes to measure the distance i was working at. Recently i purchased a used S&B scope. A PM-2 in 5-25x56. The tracking on that scope has about a 1.5 % error when i adjusted the elevation by 9 mils. When I tested a gen 3 Razor and a Nightforce ATACR, the tracking on those had very small error. Something like 0.3%. I was disappointed with the tracking on the S&B but the view through that scope is so nice I'm going to keep it. I'll be accounting for the correction factor when using the S&B scope. I used a very accurate 6mm Creedmoor to shoot the tall target. It's not difficult to get two or more bullets touching each other with that rifle.

It is very odd to see S&B fail a tracking test (I note you said it was used also). I have three S&B scopes now and each one has passed the tests. Fantastic scopes. Thanks for watching and posting.

Another awesome video :-) A quick question. You mention that the distance should be measured from the turret. Why is it not from the front of the turret (FFP) or behind the turret (SFP)? Isn't it where the crosshairs are placed? In advance thank you for the answer :-) Kind regards Claus "Claude" S. Andersen "Train hard - Hunt easy"

Hello Claude, thanks for watching and posting a great question. You are absolutely correct on the precise placement of the laser range finder. The precision of my Sig Sauer LRF is +/- 0.1 yards (3.6"). A reading from the front of the turret or behind the turret would not give me better results as it is all within the error tolerance of the instrument (+/- 3.6"). If a person had a more precise LRF, then certainly placing it more carefully over the actual location of the reticles would be best.

@@sdkweber great. Thank you for the fast reply 😀. I think that we both are very detail oriented, but of course there are some “buildt-in” error in the LRF. Keep up the great work. 🫡👍👍👍
