Hey Steve, love your channel. Have you had any problems with the Type M glazing when you use it outdoors?

Haven’t had any problems at all. Works like a charm.

Thanks for sharing! Whats the shelf life of an opened and unopened container? What indicators are there that its gone bad and a new container should be used? Thanks again

I’m not sure about the shelf life, because we go through so much. But an indicator that it’s gone bad is when it dries out and skins over in the bucket. That will leave little chunks in it that make it really hard to glaze cleanly. The way I keep that from happening once I open the bucket is to pour a layer of water on top between uses. That keeps it from skinning over. I’ve heard that others, when putting it away for a long time will put it in the freezer. Never tried that though

Cover it in an inch of water before you store it and it will last forever if it is like standard linseed based glazing putty.

Have you had any experience with Sarco’s Dual Glaze? I have a 66 x 72 window frame that I rebuilt and installed. Glass company will install glass in place, probably bedded in silicon and I’ll add some wooden window stops. I’d like to go glaze for aesthetic and performance but daily temps are 78-104, hardly the shop conditions Type M calls for.

I’ve never used Dual Glaze so can’t comment on that. I’ve used Type M for well over a decade and haven’t had any problems regardless of where I glaze.

Zinc oxyde in preference than titanium oxide…?

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say “okay” as often as this guy. It’s like he uses them as commas and periods. I doubt he even realizes he’s doing it.
