Hello To all the lovely people! The new let's play in the Oxygen Not Included DLC: Spaced Out! has begun!

Almost 900 hrs logged in the game and I'm just learning about the shift trick to build straight lines...Definitely going to make long ladder runs a lot easier now thanks!

The +5/-5 athletics is even worse than zero. The +5 is a head start towards the max 20 skill level, but the -5 is a permanent -5, which makes your maximum 15! Good choice not taking that one.

Remember the interests at the top are just to save you time skilling up your dupe, the traits at the bottom are permanent bonuses.

@@jemsterr Good to remember! Small exception: when you skill scrub your dupes. Some get lost (maybe they fix that in the future?).

i started a new game inspired by your ONI videos. i struggle with the time it takes to do things on my low-end computer, so this time i used the DGSM mod by Ony so i can get good duplicants when i need them instead of waiting 100 cycles for a decent rancher. so far it's really making things a lot easier to handle.

when you run the pipes right on the output the output gets blocked. Always good idea to extend the outputs and inputs... Looking forward to this run :)

Well that SHOULD have been fixed month ago. I build them over the output since and it works for me ;)

@@Taebs the output will wait an empty pipe to send one packet through. when you make the pipe over the output you are essentially blocking the outputs of the equipment down the line. it is always a good practice to put some pipe after the outputs so you get some buffer before things backup.

@@Toughbeard Well that used to be the case.... but (except for the steam turbines, which are doing this still) it was fixed / patched month ago..... if I remember correctly =/ now they merge, as it is with bridges.

there is one funny bug that can help dealing with something that you dont want to see yet. Lets say you dont want to deal with poluted dirt and root piles. Set the dispenser in a way that points on natural tile, everything that will be dispensed, will become buried object, and will stop offgasing/emiting heat etc. hide your 300 tons of ice under the rug, ideally together with some 500'C aluminum, so you will have a very surprising tile to uncover later on.

Haha awesome. I haven't thought of that technique for such a usecase before! We use it to increase the size of natural tiles. If you use the same material the natural tile is made of. And put it in the block. Save. Reload the game. Then the tile has added that mass to the natural tile size. Good to increase the radiation in the radioactive tiles (Can't remember the name at the moment).

27:38 Oh my! I just realized about it, all this time I've been supplying all wash basins and toilets using water that contains germs! I thought the setup I made was normal, but since the water sieve doesn't remove germs, the setup I did makes no sense huh!

The contaminated water to sinks isn’t an exploit. It just is. You don’t need to do something exploitative to make it happen.

Hi Wade! Well the same thing could be said about the infinite liquid and gas storages. Yes they are game mechanics. Are they exploity? Also yes :D. Not sure if they count as real exploits but for now i pretend they are :). Also, thanks alot for becoming a supporter!

@@Luma_plays no I disagree. Your exploiting the one element per tile and allowing a room to over fill with an element. Plus there are liquid and gas storage options.

i used to stop disinfecting but it increases strength, i just let them go for it now :)

That's true. Maybe i activate it later on. In the beginning it is annoying when they waste their precious time on germ disinfecting instead of taking care of the food, ranches or power.

Have you considered utilizing the plastic wall toilets? They output polluted water at a 1:4 ratio from water input. I made a stacked bathroom with one way doors in and one exit going past hand sanitizer at the top.

I did and i think i posted a design in the discord. But I never used it. It was the tower of pee with wheezeworts and gulp fish at the bottom to clean the water

@@Luma_plays oh I used plastic all around and it sanitizes it a little as it pumps. If you put a glass tile right in the middle tile being the toilet and a ceiling light to the opposite side of the top toilet tile, along with a weight plate below them, they can get the lit workspace bonus

I will recheck the episode to see what you mean with smoothly so i can improve in that area. Thanks again and feel free to point out more areas that you notice. 22:07 you asked for feed back....i JUST found here and i got to say right now i dont see any need to change anything....the only thing i would see that would help would be doing more short videos on tutorials...like 5 to 8 min videos showing stuff off to give people ideas on how do to things....first of like make a little 2 min video showing how to automate coal gens (i know it is a thing most people know but some people have a hard time with settings) and then you can move on to a 4 min video on ranching....short fast videos..i find ONI youtubers dont really have that. i mean a long 4 hours video doesnt help to much when you are new...and your style is REALLY good for that short video style

On 23:48 you mentioned something about one dupe building the lavatories, why only one dupe, what’s the difference?

If you want it too look neet it is easier to have one duplicant build the lavatories in the right sequenz. if you have multiple duplicants they often start to build whatever they desire first. Resulting in a messy overlapping look.

@@guty_18 Yes :). I just was told that when a dupe uses the lavatory the used one will end up on the layer most close to the viewer. So in the end it doesn't even matter ;); but it still looks nicer when build that way at least for a short time.

12:40 Coal Generator "bug" or "feature" in Vanilla (and i Guess DLC Vanilla) Check the settings for the coal generator. The slider is the amount of the BATTERIES, less then X and they will provide more coal. If you look at your batteries, there are nearly full at the time. So they will get the errand, when they fall under 50% Very annoiying system :( Because if some other power generator kicks in as backup and fills the batteries over X again before a dupe can reach it, they just drop the carried coal on the floor...... yeah... Auto Sweepers == coal generators == smart battery

Thank you, I never understood the coal generator logic and its deliveries. I always thought when the automation disabled it the dupes wouldn't delivery coal anymore due to it being disabled.

Until I have a smart battery set up I use 5-10-15 on 3 coal generators. Then I set them all to 100 and the battery to 30-60 (by then I usually have nat gas generators) The higher you set the coal generators, the more power is wasted burning off coal while the batteries are full.

@@Luma_plays Not the OP, but I would love a series that hits the major goals of early, mid and late game play in the new DLC. There's so many new dupe traits that it's very confusing which ones to choose or avoid. And there are a lot of non-algae starting planets so O2 generation can be difficult to ramp up. Radiation as a mechanic is also scary for new players.

@@music_YT2023 Thanks for the suggestion / explanation what could be meant. I don't really see the concept of early / mid / late game in the DLC since you mostly can do whatever you desire. Yes some things require other but the early and mid games are very fluid in the dlc depending on what you want to focus on. I see if i can make an Oxygen production tutorial for each planet situation (generalized). :D

Hey @@technonick642 :D. So much ideas from all of you thanks. Rooms are technically not needed. They give a nice moral boost which makes your dupes more happy. And what they need to function as rooms is described in game. But i do understand you: the game doen't really tell you what counts as an industrial building or what is decor and so on. So i see if i can integrate that in the let's play or in a tutorial. Sadly i am super slow releasing such things .

The bathroom loop isn't a bug or an exploit, it's just bad planning. Messing about with chlorine is pointless.

Hey everyone free to their opinion on that matter :D. For me it is an exploit since the developers probably intended for it to be used slightly different. Reusing water and filtering it for cleaning the hands is fine surely. But the fact that germy water cleans your hands off of germs seems like an exploit to me.

@@Luma_plays It's a terrible piece of coding, but it's been there for as long as I've played. I wouldn't complain if they fixed it. There are SO. MANY. BUGS. though. Even fundamental ones like memory leaks that are never fixed.

Working on it. :) I want to release one Episode consistently every Sunday for at least a few month. Sunday depending on the country you are in. And under the week either a short or an explanation video. I am working through my backlog whenever I have time.

Still thanks for the feedback. I don't get much feednack on what i say wrong so i don' improve alot there. Do consider that we in germany do learn british, american and australien english in school (mostly from teachers with a bad accent as well) and the words from britisch and american english can get mixed up. If there is no way for you to ignore the accent then my videos will probably not be for you. I did improve a little but probably not enough that you will be able to unhear the mistakes. But if you don't mind i would be happy if you added more words to the list so i can at least focus on those few first.
