thank you for the honest review. i bought the shoes, i can confirm what you are saying, the weight is substantial. i have noticed (ran 30k in the shoes) that if you let it roll (just go with it) it will bounce you forward. so the tech works it is just the weight that is a problem, but if you use it for medium and long slow run it can work fine, also when you push it into faster pace it can hold it, but for the price there are so many shoes on the market

Loving my V2s so far. I was a big fan of the OG PX and Strung V1s, and although I didn’t have any stability issues, I was always very conscious of them on the run. I was able to set and forget the V2s in a way I couldn’t previously, and the weight didn’t stop me locking into marathon pace and above for long stretches comfortably.

I fully agree with your assessment. Maybe all the negative reviews have set the bar low after the initial hype, but I'm starting to see more and more positive reviews from everyday runners and other RU-vidrs alike. Like you said, I was also always mindful about turning corners, jumping on/off sidewalks, running on cambered roads or dodging potholes, going downhill, etc. but with the v2, I can pretty much forget about that stuff and just run like I would on any other "normal" stack height running shoes with the v2. I'm really looking forward to my next run in the v2, which will be a long run (15+ miles) at a moderate pace. It isn't any heavier than other max stack shoes like Invincible Run (all versions), SC Trainer, Gel-Nimbus 25, and More v4, but feels a lot lighter and is heck of a lot faster, more propulsive, and WAY more fun than all of them. For me, anyway. 😄

I absolutely love PXS v1 and it's my favorite road running shoe of all time. To me, nothing else quite compares although there are many other shoes I love. Obviously, I had to get this new v2 even though there were all these mixed reviews from the "leak" launch after all the over-hyping from the BITR guys after a few aisle jaunts at TRE back in December. So, my expectations were tempered and accepted that this will be a completely different kind of shoe - not an even faster, more propulsive, and lighter version of v1 that BITR guys led us to believe it would be. I've put in two 9-mile runs now with lowered expectations and guess what? I love it! It's not as good as v1 but that's what I was expecting - something different while having the DNA of the OG and PXS v1. For whatever reason - my running biomechanics or my personal preferences for how a shoe feels and rides - the PXS (v1 and this v2) just jives with me and I enjoy the ride in them in a way that I don't with virtually any other shoe - not even the Adios Pro 3. This v2 is a different kind of beast altogether from v1 although there are obvious similarities. It's bouncy but in a more controlled manner and it is indeed noticeably more stable although I never had stability issues with the v1. Over the two 9-mile runs, I ran in a variety of paces ranging from 6'/mile (3'44"/km) to 10'/mile (6'13"/km) and the v2 felt great at every pace. Yes, it's heavy but it feels and rides much lighter than the actual weight. My US size 8 is 9.9oz (281g) and that's almost identical to my SC Trainer, Nimbus 25, More v4, and Invincible Run 2, but the PX2S is much faster, much more propulsive, and much more fun to run in - not even close. With those shoes, I don't even want to try running faster than 8'/mile (4:58/km) pace but running 6'/mile pace is fine with the PX2S. Well, the PXS and PX2S just work *FOR ME*. That's all I can say and I understand that it's not going to work for many others. That's why there are all these shoes out there. Some will work for you and some won't. I expect the PX2S to be my long distance cruiser. The weight doesn't bother me at all. I can go moderately fast to easy pace and not worry as much about cambered roads and potholes or jumping down from or up to the sidewalk. It's also much more stable for downhill runs than the v1. The ride isn't quite as exciting as the v1 but it's got its pluses - more form-fitting upper (less baggy in the forefoot/toe-box area), improved stability, and a more forward-focused bounce and propulsion. I'd much rather go on long runs with this than the GlideRide 3 now. I got this in TTS but it runs a little large for me and I have to wear thick socks (and double on my left foot as it's a bit narrower than my right) so I'm going to try half-size down and use thinner socks. And I don't think the price is ridiculous at all. I'd say this nitpicking over $20 or $50 in the shoes world is ridiculous. Try some other hobbies like audiophile gear and electric guitars, my two other hobbies. I have some headphones and guitars that each are worth more than my collection of 40+ pairs of running shoes. Running is by far the most affordable and cost-effective hobby I can think of. For me, the enjoyment I get out of the PX2S (and PXS) is worth much more than $300.

Do you happen to also own the ASICS Superblast? If so, how do they compare to the PXS v2? Great review btw.
@alexkhan2000
@alexkhan2000 8 месяцев назад
@@teewaikay No, the Superblast is a shoe I've been holding out on although, obviously, I'm intrigued by it. It just seems redundant to have at the moment when I have multiple pairs of the PXS and, now, the PXS v2. I'm sure I'll get around to trying out the Superblast eventually but, first, they need to come out with some better looking colorways! Haha.
@joannamartignoni
@joannamartignoni 8 месяцев назад
Thanks for such a comprehensive review! I'm also a lover of the PXS v1 and watching all of the negative reviews has made me reluctant to try the second iteration - you've convinced me to keep an open mind. I do have the Superblasts and like them a lot but the feel isn't quite as bouncy/propulsive for me as the PXS.
@alexkhan2000
@alexkhan2000 8 месяцев назад
@@joannamartignoni There are more and more positive reviews that are catching up with the negative ones. Haha. It is indeed a divisive shoe, even amongst lovers of PXS v1. I had an open mind but my expectations were lowered for v2. I expected it to be different, not "better". It is still quite bouncy and propulsive but in a more controlled manner. It is definitely heavier but also much more stable than v1. I don't have to constantly keep my eye on the road to dodge potholes or cracks or uneven surfaces or be as mindful when turning corners or going fast downhill. It's more of a "set-and-forget" kind of shoe, which has been a liberating feeling. I did a 14.3 mile long run on Sunday and another 9.2 mile run today and I'm liking the v2 more and more with each run. In fact, I'm starting to love it and it's starting to threaten v1 as my #1 road running shoe! Haha. It can't go all-out fast like the v1 because of the weight underfoot but is really great for moderate-to-fast cruising at tempo paces. It also feels comfortable and stable at easy/slow paces, which I don't find the v1 to be good at. I still haven't tried to run easy/slow for a whole run with it. It's still just too bouncy, propulsive, and fun to run slow in. Haha. But I think I'll be able to do that soon. If you love the v1, it's worth giving it a try. I can't guarantee you'll like it like I do, but the DNA of v1 is still in there with the added stability. It's a different beast and I now find it very complementary to v1.

These are not racing shoes tbh, but people should really know that by now , it’s like I wouldn’t use super blast to race in even though they are much lighter, I love these ,I love them for tempo and longer easy miles so not really worried with other runners opinions, I loved the prime x1’s which believe in the run also slated 😊 got mine for a discount as well so even better , I remember a trend with v1 amongst the RU-vidrs when people were very critical and when the price went down it became pretty popular !
@MarkSmith_Best-Athletics
@MarkSmith_Best-Athletics 8 месяцев назад
Price definitely plays a part in criticism of certain shoes. Most people are missing out on the best racing shoe out there due to high pricing in my opinion. The Saucony Endorphin Elite is just starting to get some of the high praise that it deserves from RU-vid reviewers. There's going to be a lot more people racing in them, especially when/if they start to drop in price. I paid £238 at release for mine and it's miles better than any race shoe that I have owned. The only shoe that came close to it in terms of performance was the Alphafly v1, but I sold them after running just 39 miles (Inc - PB's at 5k, 5 mile and 10k). I just couldn't cope with the narrow arch in the Alpha and so would have never raced more than a 10k in them.

Just had 2 runs into the PX 2.0 very bouncy but not resposnsive enough. There seens to be a disconnect between the ground and the strike/stride.

One of the few with an honest review. The prime x strung v2 is a nice concept with double plate but the additional weight compare to v1 doesn't make the shoe that more magical. If they can reduce weight while having double plate then you can see an improvement in technology but it's heavier so it's not an improvement but a replacement. It seems like the concept was just rushed out. I guess this one is for runners looking for luxury because using this as traingers for long distance might feel nice but the durability and price will make you wonder why didn't you opt for a simple trainer and save the money for a real racer.

Interesting how “polarizing” this shoe seems to be for reviewers… clearly the ones who are more on the “experienced” or “racing” side seem to dislike its weight (and price!) while the more “casual” reviewers seem to like it better (while still disliking the price!) as a training/leg saving option. Clearly, not a racing model yet it could have a space in the training cycles for many people if they are willing to fork the cash out. Just imagine how light your other shoes will feel on race day after a block of training in these! 😅 All I know is that if I come across them in a store, I will probably get them. there is no law prohibiting this, so it's not illegal, just not complying with World Athletics regulations that apply only to the pros, so we everyday runners can use them as mutch as we want. I think those regulations already prohibit stacking multiple plates. My personal problem with both Prime X 1 Strung and the Pro 3 is heelslipage, they tend to give me blisters, which wasn't the case with the Pro 2, otherwise the Pro 3 is great and often has nice discounts, I guess the Pro 4 is not too far out.

What is the point of wearing a shoe in a race that the pros can't though? I want to know what I can run in comparison to those guys. I don't think that any of these shoes over 40mm stack are the quickest shoes out there though. Out of the extremely high stacked shoes I would think that the Wave Rebellion Pro would be the quickest. A very clever shoe but one that I don't think I would choose to wear if looking to run a specific (quick for me) time.
@therunophil
@therunophil 8 месяцев назад
@marksmith_wvac what is the point of comparing myself against pros if regardless of the shoe I'll never get even close? Everyone has a different motivation, you want to compare yourself, I want to see how fast I can get, most runners I know are happy with their one model of daily trainer from Brooks or Nike and never try other shoes, and that is all fine, I'm just against scaring people with the factually incorrect claim of illegality. For me personally I have a number of old injuries etc. where lots of shoes lead to pain a few km in, max stack shoes help me push my body further and I would not hesitate to race in them, currently I would rather use the Superblast than a couple of my "legal" carbon racers, but it will probably be my 3rd marathon in a row in Vaporfly 1, as the fastest shoe that also works for me.
@MarkSmith_Best-Athletics
@MarkSmith_Best-Athletics 8 месяцев назад
@@therunophil I can't get anywhere near the Elite athletes either. I can hold Kipchoge pace for probably about 600 metres when running well. It's more about my mindset wanting to run under the same rules and regulations that they have to abide by. I don't see that wearing a shoe that's deemed illegal to the Elites is worth wearing for me to knock let's say a couple of more minutes off my Marathon times. I don't think that any current shoe with a 50mm stack is quicker than the best race shoes which are 40mm stack height and under anyway. I personally wouldn't choose to race in a shoe that isn't open to anyone to wear as long (as they have the money to put a pair on their feet). I think that somewhere between approx 36mm and 40mm of foam with between a 4mm and 8mm drop is the sweet spot for most runners. I haven't really heard of any runners breaking race PB's in the various different iterations of the Prime X or similar.

The ride is basically bad, very weird brickesque feeling, it is heavy, clunky, super stiff, not responsive. Yes, the upper is better, the lockdown is better, the tongue is better. But the midsole and the ride is inexplicable, you just drag yourself in them fighting with the shoe. Fit is true to size, 45,3 EU | 10,5 UK | 11 US.

Why would anyone touch it when you can buy the Wave Rebellion Pro for £170 or under (has been seen as low as £120 to £130 in recent months) and that's a plated shoe with 50mm of foam that's approx 223g (7.9 Oz) which is race legal.
