Preparing and cleaning films for super8, regular8, 9,5mm and 16mm films 

Olá Rodrigo! Poderia me dizer que tipo de álcool usar? Por esquecimento deixamos um rolo, dentro da embalagem plástica, num local onde pegou sol e agora o filme está com uma umidade, parece ter soltado uma espécie de tinta... Tb apresenta muitas partes "amassadas", certamente por causa do calor recebido. Vc sabe como eu poderia limpar nesse caso? Which cleaning fluid are u using?

Van Eck Video Services Well - alcohol still cleans the film but when the emulsion swells and sticks to itself when wound during cleaning - it dries when stuck to itself. How does film cleaning prevent this? Does it not swell the emulsion? Because emulsion is very absorbent and what not.

I removed lots of mold without a special machine. I unrolled the film in a bucket filled with demineralised water. Next I moved the film between my fingers to clean it from the mold and hang it in big loops to dry at a line. The result? 100 % clean film. It will take some time, but it works perfect. And ... its free. Only some Euro's for the demineralised water.

Oh, please, please, please tell me. I need to do this to many, many tapes that I want to have converted to DVD,s for my granddaughter before I die. They are old family tapes of me as a child and my family, none of whom she’s ever known. I don’t have a tape rewinder. Do you just rewind them on a reel by hand?
