The last one ALMOST worked. It said "system couldn't find the file specified." I did it correctly tho 😭 Edit: I did this and then pressed I think the "shutdown" button, or something equivalent, and it ended up booting fine
Copied everything faithfully. Got to the final hurdle and it indicates 'the system cannot find the file specified.0 files copied . Over two days I have tried every tutorial on You Tube and yours is the ONLY one that got me this far...but still can't mend the (expletive deleted!) problem.
Guys ! The people who have watched the videos about our problem that is not to get that blue screen instruction screen. If we have common sense with reading knowledge through internet we can fix those problems! Then what is our exact problem? That is after power on the computer screen shows “ preparing for automatic repair” and that goes to black screen and doing nothing! Yes? Hundreds of videos in here about that ! They are uploading mixed contents from same topic ! Totally weird ! I have followed them nothing happened to my computer related to that symptom! But finally, I have done ! But not a disciplined repairing procedure! Here we go... F2 then boot. Disabled network booting. F5 selection not arrow selection. (Win10). And then , power on , computer’s logo (NOTwindows logo) quickly power off .do same 3 times. After 10 seconds power on and press F11 many times continuously. Then I could see first message about automatic Repair has vanished and something is loading. Then windows told that is installing an update. After that I heard windows logon sound honestly shocked. Then log on screen has appeared . After log on screen became black again and started to appear desktop icons one by one . Thank God ! Well, if you could win that old problem, go to settings -click update and security box-click troubleshoot -and change to “ Ask me before running trouble shooters” if you are running “ developer mode “ change to normal! That’s it ! My laptop is running win10 pro 64bit version 21H2 on an old Acer machine! Best of luck guys !
nothing worked. I went to system restore. There wasn't even a next option. I went to startup repair. It diagnosed my PC and said it couldn't repair my PC. I went to command prompt and none of my files showed up.
Following MDTech's tutorial here, I solved my issue. Here was my case: *Problem* : Powering computer leads to Automatic Recovery Mode. *Goal* : Boot normally *Cause of problem* : Improper power-offs, ~x3 *Cause of cause* : Lack of power to PC when keeping intensive applications open for long periods of time *Solution* : Access Boot Menu (F11) and change default hard drive order *Notes* : It seemed Windows changed my default boot hard drive after my PC cut off from power multiple times in a row. After extensive periods of usage in high-demanding applications, my PC kept cutting power. Eventually I was presented with a blue screen on startup. When I changed the hard drive order in Boot Menu, however, my PC returned to boot-up normally.
@@charlessnachez4248 sometimes I wonder if responses like yours are meant to just be obnoxious I fixed it myself, there aren't accurate instructions anywhere
on the last step when i enter the final command, i get the message "The system cannot find the file specified 0 file(s) copies." What do i do? I am very confused, no other steps are helping either. Thank you
just ended up putting a Windows 10 installation on a usb drive and wiping my harddrive then reinstalling windows through the USB drive, lost all my files, but was the only way to fix my computer.
same with me! did you find a way to fix it? I think he has done something on his PC before making this video. Basically we need to get those same files into that regbackup folder.
Thank you. Very useful video. Unfortunately none of the options worked for me. However the command option you highlighted helped. Once I opened up the command prompt option I entered the following command to get into Safe Mode: bcdedit /set {default} safeboot network Once in Safe Mode I was able to fix the problem.
If this helps anybody out there I noticed a pattern with this error. I've reinstalled Windows multiple times and kept running into the same error.I came to the realization that installing the free version of Avast started causing the Preparing Automatic Repair loop. Looked it up on Google and yup! I caught an error in the bottom right task bar while installing Avast and just thought it was a fluke. Rebooted and then stuck. Reinstalled Windows again, installed Avast and noticed the error in the taskbar again. Rebooted, automatic repair popped up again. It is really odd since I have Avast installed on all my computers.
Hello.... I tried all 3 methods and none of them worked for me. I was hoping the last method using the Command prompt would have worked. At the very end of your instructions, I never got the Overwrite prompt to appear. Also.... on your example, below the line that said: Directory of C:Windows\System\config\RegBack, yours showed two lines that said , and then you had 5 File lines below those. However, for me, what appeared was only two line that said , and nothing appeared below them. So, when I did your instructions about typing the "copy *.* .." the message that came up on my pc said: The system cannot find the file specified. 0 file(s) copied. So, is there any other suggestions you have? My laptop is a: Toshiba Satellite L855-S5162. Also, I am able to get into the BIOS. Is there something in there you can suggest I change? Thanks so much!
When I do the command "copy *.* .." it always says 0 files copied. I've watched many videos with this same method but I always end up getting stuck at the cd regback part. What did I do wrong. Can somebody help me please
Try turning off your laptop (long press the power button), and as soon as it goes off, inmediatly press the power button again (turn it on). Turn it off as soon as it starts once again, and Repeat this process twice. This is what worked for me, hopefully it will work for someone else
At first for me it didn't even asked those options they are showing. Just loading only, they after 3 hrs it finally asked those options and i think i clicked turn off your pc but it didn't work. Again the loading came..but thank god it asked the options again so i am finally able to get it back. Hope the problem will be solved for you soon.
Thanks BRO DUDE wth i seen like 99999 videos i was crazy man but THANKS MAn u helped me alot btw it works on 1st method on mine pc, I LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED :D
Hi, just want to ask, what can I do if when i try the third option and I am at the c:\windows\system32\config\RegBack> part, and I trype copy*.* .. it then says the system cannot find the file specified? What can I do from here? I can't typ in A as ai don't get any option to override anything. Thank you soon much for your help!!
Ohhhh Mannnnn!!!!! You were great help. Thid video was amazing, I'm not good at tech things and I was freakingg out that what happened to my Lappy. Good God bless you for being amazing at tech. You saved me my money, because I sure as hell would have gone to the tech guy for this and also you saved me my time. I had to submit my thesis work. Lord give you whatever you wish for.
Whenever I start up my PC, I just get a black screen with the Packard Bell logo, and it says "prepairing automatic repair" on the bottom of the screen, absolutely nothing else happens, there are no dots to indicate loading, And it just stays like this, I've tried waiting for hours but nothing happens. And it just stays on that screen.
Preparing automatic repair, blue screen, your computer ran into a problem and we will restart it for you. NTFS.sys failed. This will loop until the cows come home. There's no other options other than press and hold power to shut down, there's no known way to boot into safe mode. Infinite loop or long press power off are the only options available... Any ideas?
@@MDTechVideos basically it never gets beyond automatic repair preparations, just blue screens then reboots into oblivion. Many people seem to have the identical problem. I think the only way to resolve, is to put the HDD into an external caddy and attempt repairs. I'm simply stuck in a loop without any options. Fortunately I have an SSD with Windows installed in the same system and only need to disconnect the other HDD in order to boot.
@@MDTechVideos from the actual bluescreen information page: "If you call a support person, give them this info. Stop Code: SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED. What failed Ntfs.sys" This message is dsplayed for a a few seconds then the system will reboot, then after the usual startup routine showing BIOS logo etc, you get the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen and then the blue-screen and repeat.
Copy space*.*space after this the overwrite command prompt did not show will you please make another video making an emphasis on this portion only. Unsuccessful trial Encountered by myself using this command prompt method u shared please help me. I need this help severely.
Hi all. Great tutorial. I tried the first and second option and the problem persisted. Before trying the third option, I logged in windows in a safe mode and used the startup repair mode. Thanks for the clues. Great contribution!
Basically what's happened is the last two Fall Creator's Updates have made Windows 10 outrageously glitchy and completely unusable. Windows came out with Windows 10 thinking it would fix the problems they created with Windows 8, and ended up continuing the Microsoft tradition of making every OS since XP even more glitchy, unstable and aggravating than the last. It should only be awhile until they come out with Windows 12 which will promise to be the worst operating system ever. They say Windows 12 will be so bad people will regret it even more than when they gave up XP for Vista.
The command prompt won’t work past me putting in D: ??? All the files come up in the directory. But when I put in the cd \windows\system32\config it says my system can’t find the path specified. What else can I do?? What could I type?? :/
I just installed Windows on a flashdrive from my friends of and unplugged the wires from my hard drive and went into bios and change the start up device to the flashdrive and started up the PC with the flash to download windows. Then when it was done installing I didn't do the "getting account ready" stuff and I turned the PC off and plugged the wires back into the hard drive and it gave me the option to delete everything and I did and I installed Windows onto the now fresh hard drive and it's fixed for me now
@@jomcueto980 sadly yes but I didn't do it the normal way. I installed Windows on a 16gb flashdrive and I plugged it in and went to bios. I unplugged the hard drive from the PC and I started the PC up on the flashdrive and once it started installing Windows I turned the PC off and plugged the hard drive back in and changed the startup device to the flash drive (usb) and I gave me a choice to install Windows and then gave me a choice to delete everything on the hard drive. So yes you will have to completely wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows.
I have a HP Notebook mine comes up and says preparing windows but mine does not take Diagnostic in process mind then we'll go off with the repair of her and just turned to a blue screen what can I do to fix this to get the screen back to the normal Windows where I can to get the computer so I can use it again?
Bro i download filmora editing app and after installing my laptop started hanging so i shut down th laptop and kept it after 1 day i was trying to start laptop but saying automatic repair what option should I choose fro your video plz reply
Once I got to the commands everything was going good until I typed cd \windows\system32\config. After that it says “ the system cannot find the path specified “. Please help classic wow is starting in a couple days and I’ve been trying to fix my pc for weeks, I also tried putting in a 2TB hard drive and nothing...
Ok i've managed to fix this. My problem was associated with the restart button of the pc. When I restart it, it always goes into an infinite bootloop. The only way i fixed it was remove every plug that powers the pc itself. Let it rest for about 5 minutes then you can plug it back in again. I can't guarantee that it'll work with everyobe but that's how I fixed mine.
