I would 1000% watch a show based on QT's formative years. Call it QT Cringerella. And I mean that respectfully because holy hell do I relate to all her stories. In fact on this podcast they should allow listeners to write in some of their cringy early stories and they can read them. I fucking love this podcast so much.

I can’t believe this podcast is only 22% women? I assumed it was like 50% as a guy. Either way you guys are hilarious and yes as someone with a M.S. in Environmental Management & Statistics from UCSB and I definitely live vicariously through some of Maya’s videos. She is a a great human being and I’m glad I donated back in the day.

Antidepressants aren’t necessarily happy pills. They help a lot in allowing you to control your mood more and come back from low points like others can without intense rumination.

Yeah it leveled me out from having a two week cycle of flat for a week or so, good two days, then awful awful sadness. I've been on them for a few years now and recently upped my dosage and while I'm not perfectly happy now, it's a lot more manageable

@@pemcot9018 This is totally a guess, but from the way she was talking about how it interacts with anti-depressants and seritonin I would think she was talking about St. John's Wort. I would absolutely do your research before taking any supplements and ask a doctor if you can because many of these supplements can interact with other medications

@@Cole_McGill parasocial's OG definition is that people think that they are friends with the streamer, but I kind of take it to also mean that they are too invested in their streamer's whereabouts and that they care too much about their streamer's relationships. I took OP's comment to mean that the streamers pretend to date each other. Imagine how shit everyone's chat's will be for weeks after that event lol. It's bait for parasocials.

As a programmer: we mostly work for the worst companies ever if we want money or make no money if the work is actually interesting (as in helps people in general or makes the world better in some way) Working to save a couple of streamers that release a weekly podcast to keep me entertained during the apocalypse? as someone who is on antidepressants just want to say i had practically the same side effects and they went away and i felt a lot better for a while, i still have downs and a problem is that you have to use bigger and bigger amounts over time, still 100% worth compared to where i was before so just want you and anyone else reading this to know that antidepressants aren’t as scary as the first few times taking them make them seem

Before I watched that part when you mentioned it, I didn't realize how little I was talking to everyone for the past 2 years, it was like my entire world had shifted into focus. Your willingness to perservere through everything you have been through has given me a lot of courage to keep trying, thank you. Maya you're pretty short lol.

QT, Got to say. Love the way you explain how you feel. I am currently having issues where I feel the same way and your way of explaining it will help me make myself understood to my therapy . I think I will go back on antidepressants though, currently without it but last time i felt like this it helped me get back on my feet.

Not 100% sure this is what Qt was talking about with the whole “if you see something no you didn’t” thing, but there is a similar thing with the Stairs in the Woods phenomenon. Basically Forest Service rangers, search and rescue crews and other woodsman type people have stories about randomly placed sets of stairs/staircases way out in the wilderness, including the Appalachian forests. Literally like a set of stairs from inside your house, just sitting in the middle of the woods somewhere. Rangers and search and rescue are told to ignore them, never go near them, and never EVER go up them

Shout out to the small situation at around 44:35 - QT saying to "take [saying that she'll die] back" and after a light hearted banter Maya DOES take it back and they continue conversation. It's easy to just brush that ask aside since its such a silly thing from the outside perspective, and it's just nice seeing someone not get irritated with you and comply, maybe knowing that the silly thing actually does matter to you. Felt like OCD thing, maybe not, either way nice

I was on Zoloft for about 3-4 years and I felt like it really helped in the beginning, but I went through such an extreme depressive phase that I ended up feeling like they were hurting more than helping. (In hindsight idk if they were actually the reason or if whatever new brand of depression I was experiencing was fully to blame), but I was having a lot of trouble with introspection and thinking creatively and feeling like I had any identity at all, tbh. Felt like the medication had stopped helping and was working against me and making me feel worse. I wouldnt mind giving whatever natural supplement QT was talking about a try, but she didnt drop a name... Im happy its helping her though

The thing that grounds me and dismisses any intrusive thoughts about scary stories is just looking at the picture of Bigfoot. Ya, QT is right. Lord of the Flies is a pretty common HS reading, I read it too in HS. QT mostly told the story right except I'm pretty sure the reason it was all kids was just because they were the only ones who happened to survive I think? Maybe I'm remembering wrong but thats how I remember it going.

qt’s apocalypse survival guide: - go to the mormon heritage park - amass an army of wine about it fans - encase yourself in dirt - sleep in :) - no actually go to disneyland - take over the swiss treehouse - make sure to spit the gas out when you siphon it

Also important detail about siphoning gas: the destination of the gas needs to be lower than the source of the gas, otherwise it won't siphon. It's more than just sucking through a hose, you need gravity to keep the flow going. Have fun in the zombie apocalypse 👍

Yeah, what QT was talking about is in Appalachia. There are lots of stories of people hearing their name being called from the woods, or hearing the voices of people that shouldn't be there. Also mountain lions sound alot like women/ children screaming, and wild turkeys can make some terrifying noises
