This is a very interesting podcast by my newfound friend about food production, regenerating lands, the economics of small scale farming. There is an introduction in Swedish, and probably some Swedish ads at the beginning, the English podcast starts at 3;20 minutes in, it is truly a conversation worth listening to! play.acast.com/s/halsosnack/222-richard-perkins-hog-tid-for-jordbruksrevolution Tovas text on how to make a herbal tincture: www.talasbuan.com/english-blog/2022/10/18/how-to-make-a-herbal-tincture

It warmed my heart to see three generations working together on the storage cellar. In January I shall be 80 years old and seeing the three of them together reminded me of my grandfather, a woodworker / builder who loved me very much, reminding him of my mother, Elma, who died when I was four but family jealousy caused me to be sent away to a life of abuse with my step parents. Now I have two grandchildren, Elliot (5) and Natalie (8 months). I feel very blessed. Your family adds to that feeling.
James, it grieves me to hear about your abusive upbringing. A similar situation is happening in my life and that of a precious 9 year-old who is mistreated and not getting relief because of family jealously and lies. I hope you had a better and happier adulthood. Many blessings to you! ❤❤
It is so nice to see Ivar growing up and saying, that he loves Malva. That is warming up my heart. This child is so in balance and seems to be happy with nature, the animals and mum and das. It's also impressing to see your projects growing.👌
Tuva, I'm 60 years old, and I was a child when my grandmother used to make Arnica and others medicinal herbs infusions. You brought me good memories. My pets vet, just asked me to buy at a compounding pharmacy, arnica that my dog can take it, and it's working. Always good to see you and Matias, you are inspiring people. Hugs from Brazil.
Your cellar puts me in mind of one we had on the farm I grew up on in Canada, and we called it the root cellar. We kept mostly root vegetables we'd grown in our garden that summer, potatoes, turnips, carrots, but we kept many other things too. We had large bins of sand that the potatoes and carrots were kept in, and we took a bucket to the cellar for what we needed for supper. Nothing ever froze in the cellar, it was like a marvellous walk in refrigerator that was built into the side of a hill, and was a treasure to our family. Thank you for sharing your stories with us.
Hi again, hope you are well. Matias I'm 66 yrs old, and one thing that life has taught me is not to stress over anything. It all gets done in the end and all you are left with is the stress, which does really nasty things to our body and mind. You have such a beautiful family and surroundings to thrive. Thank you for all that you give us. Be well and God bless.
So good to see families working together in some parts of this world! Coming from a broken family I really appreciate this.. lovely video.. glad I subsribed! ❤️
Always good to see you and Matias and Ivar (who is growing so big now) and helps mommy wash the windows and sits next to dad while he flies his drone, such sweet times together. Seeing grandad with his grandchild and telling him he has turned into a bricklayer for the day is priceless. Your sheep are beautiful and your little farm is getting better and better with all the care and thought you are both putting into it. I am so happy when I see a video has been put up, I grab a cup of tea (today I was watching at 04:30am in the UK) as I could not sleep and saw your video had been put up, what a beautiful morning it was for me. Thank you for sharing your journey which I find very Interesting. I have lived in Africa, The Netherlands and now the UK and love seeing what people do all over on their farms/homesteads. Very interesting and educational. Have a lovely day Tova, Mathias and Ivar.
You both are hard workers! I wished I could fly over to help you both. I am a mom and a grandma! I promise these days will pass . So glad you all have close family and they can help! I am so grateful for your videos! I pray for you and your family! God bless and please give it all to Our Heavenly Father!❤️
Just came across your videos, you have a beautiful family. Enjoy learning your culture and support you in protecting the environment, soil regeneration. At 70, I am still learning about foraging from nature, which provides us with a lot. I live in Maine,USA
With all my pleasure I watch your videos and I am impressed from the reason the style of your life. Close to nature and simple life with much work concurrently is something what I like very much. Your channel is one of several my favourite. Greetings from Poland. Agnes.
Thank you dear friends. As always such a beautiful creation. This footage with Ivar are always poetic and heart warming. Malva is quite a jumper! Perfect timing for the finishing of the cellar's roof before the freeze. The cellar looks amazing! Always a pleasure also to see your beautiful home with this cozy loving atmosphere. Thank you for sharing!
Consider evergreen plantings over the cellar. They will provide better insulation than dirt and help hold the soil in place. The American term for the front loader is "bucket". Thanks!
Valerian root smells dirty socks. It lives up to that. Lol. Li ove you guys. My husband and I have 6 children. You are doing a wonderful job. Just remember. The first 5 years and in the womb, they are little sponges. He is a wonderful child and mature for his age. Good job.
Haha I totally agree with you about temperature units lol. Fahrenheit makes no sense with its silly number of 32 for freezing point. What kind of a random number is that? Zero makes much more sense. As for the mud though, think yourself lucky you only deal with it for a time in autumn and spring. We have it ALL winter here in the UK...mud mud mud mud mud...so tiring!!
What a lovely family ! Love the way you live and i m fans of your family but my absolute favorite is Ivar! So much grow up is a beautifull, loving and clever boy. Great parenting skills
I love seeing you Tova, Mathias, & Ivar. I enjoy seeing how you are. What you've been doing. Thank you Tova for the natural remedies. The Cheese Cellar looks really nice. Ivar is growing up fast. I loved your drone footage. I think Ivar likes it too. Love seeing the sheep. How do you cook your lamb? I like Lamb chops, & lamb patties. I'd like seeing how others use it in their meals. If the tractor gets you 2 more scoops, will that be enough to insulate the cellar? Who did we visit in the Cemetary? Is it customary to place herbs on the headstone? We are under a weather advisory, freezing rain, ice, 7a.m. - 3 p.m. in Independence, Va. I hope all is well with you & your families? I hope everyone has a really good week.
We call it a bucket, on the front end loader of the tractor. Scoops? Not that it matters. Your English is very good and is understandable. I like how you translate Ivar’s little conversations for us.
When I was little, my grandmother and my father would tickle me, saying something like “Här kommer krabban och han kommer att bita dig!” You tickling Ivar brought that to mind. 😊❤️
We say something simmilar to our children in Poland, "Idzie rak nieborak jak uszczypnie, będzie znak!" It basically means the same ;D (A crayfish comes Poor fellow When it stings you There will be a mark!)
I make valerian root tea in the winter sometimes when I can’t sleep, I have to guard my cup because my three sphynx cats go crazy trying to fight for my tea. And one loves it even more then catnip. LOL Isn’t it funny how one plant can have such different effects on humans and cats. Valerian root is wonderful as an occasional sleep aid, especially during times of stress. BTW… I LOVE your videos, thank you 🙏🏼 from Ontario, Canada.
I agree with Ivar .. I love Malva too .. she was so beautiful and gentle with him when he was younger, sign of a good dog. Cannot wait to see the next videos where she gets to do what she is designed for - some running in the snow pulling a skiier :) I am also curious - What ended up happening with the wind farm proposal ? ... thanks for the videos Potsie, Australia.
`Mathias, your English is so much better than you realize! The "homestead" is looking so good, I can't wait to see how you utilize the earth cellar. For the first time the store we order our Thanksgiving turkey from (Whole Foods) offered a turkey raised organically on a a regenerative farm. It was $10.00 more for the turkey rather than the regular organic turkey, but when we tried to order it over a week ago, they were completely sold out. We were told that the baby turkeys were raised in the fields, eating the weeds and bugs from the crops the farmer was growing. Apparently we weren't the only ones who liked this idea of supporting this kind of animal raising!!
So glad for your video it soothes me. You have all worked so hard , the cellar is looking fantastic. The little lad is growing so fast and always a lovely smile from you all.thankyou and take care 😀
Always a pleasure to see you guys.... The cellar looks awesome.... Ivar has grown so much and very talkative.... Thanks for sharing.... Love & Peace be with you all...
Your a beautiful family. I so enjoy your videos. As an American, I most of the time understand what your talking about... but I do also appreciate the clarification as well. 😊 Ivar is so precious. Many blessings to your family.
Sempre muitobom ver seus vídeos e como estão vivendo. Mais um inverno e istoé maravilhoso porque estamos todos vivos, com nossas famílias, amigos e com muitas boas esperanças num futuro melhor para todos nós.Obrigada.
I'm really grateful everytime you recommend Swedish podcasts, videos or blogs. I'm trying to study Swedish but it's very hard to find interesting stuff to improve reading or listening
I haven't listened to many of the episodes on that particular podcast, so I can't really tell if it is good or not. But the woman making it was certainly interesting to talk to. This episode they interview my good friend Kristina, in swedish. pca.st/episode/ff26f508-f63d-450c-8070-ea0a13244537 This is also an interesting episode: pca.st/episode/227ba578-e878-4075-afb2-4e716f065027
The notification bell went off today telling a great video came my way from y'all. So proud of y'all and how far y'all came from. I was wondering if y'all would do some food cooking video? Always enjoy new recipes. I use a Dutch oven a lot over a fire myself. Anyway, have a great day. And by the way I did get my solar panel for the netting. Works AWESOME....
You guys are such an inspiration! We are looking to buy a home in Sweden at the moment near Swedish family and my aim in the years to come is to become sustainable. Tova thanks for the tincture info that was amazing x
I admit I laughed hard when one of the sheep tipped off the bridge.😆 It looks like so many of your wonderful ideas are coming into play. The cellar, the wood shed, all your regenerative agriculture in play all summer. You two have accomplished so much! Time now to rest a little, get cozy and slow down for the Winter. 😊🌬️❄️
Everything you share with us is either beautiful, fantastic or impressive. The drone flying was impressive, the food production & farming advice is fantastic, and the family scenes are beautiful. Stay strong & keep smiling, luv J & R
I love to watch your son become such an important part of your homestead. He is learning so much. I can see him becoming your drone pilot! I hope he is sleeping well.. therefore YOU are sleeping well! Thank you for sharing your incredible story. 🌲
Хора вие вдъхновявате с начина си на живот.Ако можех щях да долетя от България за да прекарам дори и един ден с вас.Бъдете живи и здрави и не спирайте да правите всичко това което споделяте във видеата си с хората по света .Благодаря.
You are so right. It would be simple if everyone would just use the metric system! I say again, I admire your dedication to your lifestyle ! Best wishes, and I hope this winter doesn't cause you too much stress.
We call the front loader of the tractor a "bucket". So in your case you could have said. "We need a couple more buckets of dirt." We also call it a "load" in general. So you could say "we need a couple more loads of dirt." Funny enough you could also say "bucket loads" as well. Also, if you just say "load", it doesn't always describe what type or from what, so you would depend on your viewers knowing that you used a tractor and they would know two loads was from a front loading tractor bucket and not two loads from a massive dump truck. Your english is really good btw. Love your channel!
Tovar your hair has grown so beautifully ! It was so cute short too but this length is perfect & it looks so thick & healthy !!! I lost most of mine to alopecia/stress so praying it grows back soon. Ivar is growing so fast and speaking well, will you also teach him some english ? I can't believe winter is almost here !! Happy Holidays to you & your family.
Thank you! Hope your winter is peaceful but productive. We visited Sweden a few years back. We have relatives that still have the homestead. I grew up in Minnesota and it reminds me of Sweden.
i do hope you can perservere. i do know it is hard as i was doing this in the desert in the 70s . your little boy brims with joy. life has its ups and downs and everything between. you have chosen well. thank you for for your tranparency and for your courage.. each one of you give so much to this living world. you offer this old one hope for the young ones that will contnue to live on. you take away my fear.
You have such a pretty place, really coming along..love the stonework on the cellar. Ivar is really getting big and such a curious little guy. It is so good that family helps out and are able to be there. Love your little family
Watching your videos is so wholesome. They are so unpretentious. I love it. ❤️ And I am really amazed at what you have created in the last few years. So much hard work, physically and here on RU-vid. Stay safe and happy, have a nice Christmas time! 🙂✨🌲🙋
