Preparing for Your 3rd 8va High Notes FluteTips 76
FluteTips 76 Preparing for Your 3rd 8va High Notes
To get your high notes in the 3rd octave to come out with ease, without cracking, you need to work on your embouchure and your pressure. But you also need to prepare and plan for them.
Have fun!

Thank you for the great video! I always have to spend some time before playing dedicated to figure out my tone in each day, especially in the 3rd octave. And usually I get cracks with some notes in this process, and this helps me to figure out how much pressure they need in that especific day. It's teresting to see how the body is different and responds differently in each day.

Hi Davi, you are so right. I find the temperature of the day affects how I feel like I'm playing the same as physical differences. I think more flutists need to acknowledge that every day the body changes as so does our flute playing.

I have problems especially with my third octave f sharp. It is airy and cracks. But I am better with F or G. I can not undersrand what is wrong. By the way I checked the keys.

Are you saying that by "checked the keys" you mean that the keys are not leaking? Try playing a harmonic high F# and others. Go from a low A and then aim the air up to that high F#. This can teach you where the air needs to be angled in order to reach these notes properly. Harmonics can really help all octaves. See if this helps.

@@DoctorFlute Thanks. I think I can not arrange air speed and angle properly. I will try harmonics.
