Finally, on your way. Both my wife and I watch your adventures. we are really pleased your epic odessey as started. Wow, a documented adventure of a life time. we are in our 60s and you give us so much escapism. Thankyou for your contribution and sharing your experiences. Love life and explore together.
Thanks Graham! Yeah it’s a feeling like no other going on an adventure like that. I’m so glad we documented it all too for us to one day look back on and relive it all! 🥰⛵️🌊 all the best to you and your wife and thanks for following along
Finally at the gateway to a whole new adventure! The boatwork never seems to end. My dad (who was a boatbuilder) always said "a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into"! He was right! Sail on, new adventures await!
That is one of the nicest displays of post-it notes I have ever seen. I'm really looking forward to the coming videos. I love all your videos but everything from here on out is new. I heard you mention that, it's just true for us also. Crappie to have the stay fiasco happen. Well I'm ready when you are, let's go.
Great video. I know the area around Gibraltar well. I love the vibe around La Linea. Also Duquesa I’m very fond of. Spent many holidays near there. Only thing is I don’t have a boat. I know it from the land. Enjoyed your video and all the activities you showed. Looking forward to rest of your passage.
If I had to choose the most capable, comfortable, safe yacht for making this crossing for a couple , one choice would certainly be the tayana 37 …it seems that you have her very well prepared for this…now it’s just up to you!…I’ll be watching!
Having confidence in your yacht is paramount to me…everything is a trade off when deciding the right boat…from everything I’ve seen on the tayana 37 , all of the benefits outweigh the “perceived” negatives…i don’t really aspire to a circumnavigation, but just planning mostly daytime passages from my home in south Louisiana to Caribbean and south of equator…the island chains are no further than a long day sail to the next…but who knows…perhaps I’ll want to eventually wind up in port grimaud France where I lived for a year and sailed all over the med during that time… You’re going to love the warm clear waters teaming with life …i hope you stick around long enough for us to rendezvous one day….cheers!
One of the fantastic things about Gibraltar is that you can buy your parts duty free... and virtually anything and everything boating related is there... usually in stock. That is a HUGE savings of $$$ and time.
Hi Guys. Enjoying your videos. Referring back to episode 49 where you needed a spirit level. For future reference you can get a spirit level APP on you phones. Also from this episode you had a queerie over empty plastic containers floating free. These were fuel cans holding petrol to supply the trafficantes fast drug boats mid ocean. Strange the random knowledge you acquire through life isnt it?
Do you have a water maker on board or do you rely on being judicious using the water ,with rain collecting of course .Love your videos and I can vicariously sail the world with you !
hey Craig - thanks for the positivity :) Ahhhh we ask ourselves that often. It's not off the cards but maybe on aboard Navika 2 sometime down the line. We would love to do the south pacific
Generally, shrouds are measured from the center of the cable swage, not the top of the toggle pin ... but good luck. I just replace all my standing rigging. Much easier with the mast down.
Hey! We're hanging out in Dominica at the moment, getting into the freediving here. Planning to head south for the hurricane season down to Grenada. Are you keeping your boat in PR for hurricane season? How is that?
we used EpoDex actually! I'm not sure, but you could probably use a regular epoxy if you had some dye for it. But the epodex was cheap and worked well (cheaper than marine epoxy)
