Also go with a good local guide. As well as giving you instruction they will keep you safe. Also when you hit the top get into your jacket asap. Your temperature will plummet in seconds, also have a thin pair of merino gloves for fiddling with your setup.

Also important to put the bindings back on the right way after transitions... ;-)

Great quality! The board is made of layered wood and the velcro is held in by metal not plastic.

Man, I wish I'd had the opportunity to take my new equipment out on some chill runs before my AST1 😂 Ended up riding hard boots on a stiffer board than I'm used to... In more complicated terrain than I'm used to... on rock hard ice 😅 Safe to say, I didn't do great on the down 😂 This was after the group for the day moved at my absolute maximum speed 🤦‍♂️ At least now I'm very aware of how much more fitness and practice I need before my next group outing in 2 months 😂

Practicing how to take apart the equipment and putting it back together is really useful but I wouldn't do it on a carpet. The skins are highly adhesive and they will get covered in fluff and become useless.

I've never seen anyone pull apart the glue-side of climbing skins so easily....

My interest in a splitboard is growing, what do you do when you get shit stuck to the adhesive part of the skins? Is there a way to clean them.

Looking at a hometown hero splitboard. I’m 6’3 about 215lbs. Would the 162wide be good for me?

I would go with the 168, more float, stability and easier touring especially in deep snow. HTH SPLIT-> www.the-house.com/bufthm146614zz-burton-splitboards

This is just my head going… “I just got into snowboarding because it looks cooler than skiing. Why in the world would I turn my board into something I didn’t want to do to begin with” 🤨

Splitboarding is not about skiing down the hill, its about spliting the board to make hiking easier and being able to access terrain more easily where there are no lifts. You hike up, put the board together and then ride down. Keep your eyes peeled for our "Whats A Splitboard" video coming soon. 👍
