Unfortunately, I get my fill of Costco at Costco, especially after enduring the Thanksgiving mob Wednesday . This is where I had the check out of this episode.
I agree with you Renee, Kate is a lot more adventurous than she sees herself being, even without taking her age into account. She rivals her brothers in being adventurous.
It's really nice hearing from Kate more. She is growing up so nice, she seems like such a sweet young lady. It is great hearing from the new deckhands, and what they think and how they view things. Renee, I remember way back when you guys were first sailing you used to get sea sick a lot quicker, you are doing so good now with the wind and the waves, I rarely see that you are sick on passage anymore. I am a 70-year-old grandma following you from Holland, MI.
It was absolutely lovely to hear from Kate more but I think it’s a teen thing, they don’t want to be on camera anymore. My kids would take a million selfies but didn’t give me permission to put any photos of them on social media 😂😂 I miss the big provisioning vids so it was nice to get some of it in this one 😁😁😁

Matt here , met you guys in cartegena waiting for the weather window. On a sunreef 60. We left jibraltar 12 hours after an outremer 5X , he got both rudders destroyed by orcas. Luckily they didn't hit us. We did a beam line straight for Morocco and hugged the Morocco coast in about 35-45m depth. We were good. The other guys (on cat Swan) limped to canaries and got them fixed in time for Arc. Are now leading the multihull category. Safe crossing guys
BTW the times that you bring people on board for portions of your adventures is near and dear to my heart. I smile every time that I hear them talk about how you get them to think deeply about themselves and life. And how you fet them out of their comfort zone. Even though they don't say it directly I see them relishing that time of growth. When you think about what your doing during these trips with extra crew it is a mission trip of sorts. I don’t think that you plan it that way, you sure don't call it a mission trip. Still, all of you are making huge investments in the future of these young people. And I love watching that happen.

I was thinking about when Sailing Zatara FaceTimed me several years ago I was so excited and my granddaughter had a crush on Finn and she is now 11 and still loves her some Finn.😂
I have been watching for years and look forward to each episode. I really liked the map segments, Renee. The maps zi have, globe, and atlas don’t show a lot of areas and I love to see where you are and where you are going. Praying you get through the orca area without any damage. Take care.

I have❤ been watching you for a while and I’m impressed by your willingness to experiment in life. Having spent 30 years working exceptionally hard I looked forward to a time when I could do my own thing. Fortunately 23 years ago, I began living that life. It wasn’t a complete escape, but after 2008 I stopped working seriously. I kept up some of my work in my profession of psychology, but it was about a third of the time. I am grateful now looking back at age 80 that I got off the competitive rat race. Enjoying the time with your children and enjoying life is what it’s all about.
I like Keith's Scottish hat. It just so happens to be my favorite hat. I have one made of denim from the early '70's that my grandmother gave me. She heard my talk about the hat one day, and didn't say a thing about it. A little while later, weeks later, when it was just her and I going grocery shopping she gave me that hat. I remembered that working, listening carefully and not saying anything, then surprising the person with their treat when they aren't expecting it.

Though I have only sailed on local inland lakes as a kid I fell in love with it the minute that we were moving. I was captivated by the whispers of the water as tge boat was pushed along by the waves. Then while I was in the service I was fortunate to be stationed in southern California around the Malibu area. Every time that I could I was in the water surfing and diving. That was the time that I truly fell in love with water and the power of it.
So thankful to have this episode to watch on your Thanksgiving Day. I’m out of sorts flat on my back with a prolapsed disc & the pain is horrid. I’m grateful to be able to just let it float away & lose myself in catching up with the Zatara crew. Safe journey guys. We soldier on Down Under. 🤙🏽

I shop for a disabled group home. I feed 21 meals for 8 people every week. I buy mainly nice stuff - grass fed milk and beef, organic, pastured eggs, etc. Right now I'm spending about $650ish USD a week in maybe 1 1/2 shopping carts. I'm not really surprised at your $2K total there.
My boyfriend always talks about his love of sailing and the boats he made as a hobby. He only got a speed boat now. I wasn't interested in them at all till I met your channel. Now he is making his 4th catamaran. Now I roughly have idea of Sailing and I'm excited about being on his cat. Thank you for creating such a great contents.
What is it with Jack and the autopilot...thinking back to the east coast of Australia and doing donuts in the middle of the night! :) At least this time Glory was there doing double duty as both a distraction and an additional set of eyes. :) Fenders look awesome!

I love Keith hat . My husband wears many of this style . The wool ones are great on winter but the all White cotton looks great easy to wash & dry in machine.
This is the corner of a hand sewn sail made in the 1800s. The craftsmanship and quality of the work is amazing. This is a lost art. The canvas sails were made of hemp along with clothing, ropes, and the caulking used to fill gaps between planks among other things. Hemp is 3 times stronger than jute and was preferred because it was unaffected by salt water. The work done by sail makers was demanding and left no room for error as their sails would be what brings sailors home safely.
The Costco bill was large but feeding 7 for 2+ weeks takes quite a bit of grub. Imagine if you were serious beer drinkers and added that cost to the grocery bill. That and the added space it takes to store all the liquor really makes the non-alcoholic lifestyle something to consider. Looking forward to the crossing.

So glad Jack is going out solo for a while. As much world travelling as he's done, it is still another thing to go solo. There will be ups and downs, and maybe some lonliness at times, but it will be a great growth experience!
Glad you decided on a non-lethal method for the Orcas. Also, I was watching Earthcam to see if I could see ya'll in the Strait of Gilbralter. Nope. Not sure where you are on the timeline. Probably already at the Aleutians. Great shots and vid editing! Loved it!
Wow, what an exciting episode! The Zatara crew is always prepared for anything, even an Orca attack! It's great to see their defense plan in action. I know we only get to see what you show, but in everyone's videos board Zatara, it seems that Glory has become one of the family. She fits in really well. She has come a long way, and learned so much from you. I will be so sad to see her go.
We cruise a lot on Royal Caribbean/Celebrity cruise lines. I hate being cold or even cool. So we spend a lot of time in the Caribbean. But this past winter it was rough. We had Gale Force winds plus 25-50 ft sea for 4 weeks. We even went into the Gulf and it was bad there also. And it was chilly. Usually the Caribbean water is so still it looks like glass.
I like the Scottish cap. Very handsome on Mr Cap-Tain. He’s looking fresh and sound. Man! Totally bacon 🥓 These kids eat like horses 🐎 trot… Fair winds to all the crew
