If you're still having trouble with it running hot, you need to rebuild the center carburator and go up about two jet sizes, this is something I learned from reading about the things guys used to do, and this was one of the common problems, fixing the jet size was supposed to fix the problem of running hot.

We have a 68 Camaro convertible that still has the external voltage regulator. I got one from a Camaro place and it lasted one year. I got one from NAPA and it's been reliable. That was a bout 6 years ago I swapped out the regulator. We were running the original from 68 until I put that ink one on.
The reason why your digital meter does not work well is because of the spikes that the old school voltage regulators and generators produce. To fix that issue is place a capacitor accross the leads of the test meter. This will take out the spikes and give the digital meter a better source to trigger on. As for the size of the capacitor. I would try a 50 MFD Capacitor rated at 100 Volts. BUT to get it 100% correct you need to place a Oscilloscope and measure the frequency of the spikes. I think a point capacitor on the B+ side of the regulator should fix it too. Thier's a few more ways to fix this issue. These other ways are more involved technically redesigning the meter. I'm not aware of any digital meters that would work correctly on "old school systems" because all of the "new meters" don't need the extra filtering. This is built into the "new systems" already. Yer noisy fan prompts my heat solutions. All my blocks boiled out. Tested 165 thermostats (some chyna crap doesn't even open), single fan with shroud, 180 degree fan sensor, AMERICAN aluminum radiators and no AC. AC seems to need push and pull fans. None of my performance cars ever more than 185 and fans actually rarely run. Don't know why but never had vapor lock, some friends suffer it with same engines/cars so bad they added electric fuel pumps. I'm the only one that tire dyno tunes my yblock and FE engines which may help. Seattle sometimes 105 degrees and always heavy traffic.
So does this mean that the original Free T engine was OK? PS love the road shots you live in such a beautiful area.. That empty storefront in town would look great with an Hot Rod in it..
The Free T is amazing, a long journey but all of your hard work is starting to pay off. I think that was Steve in the right-hand seat. When does Moon get a ride?
Dumb question: do you guys just have all of that inventory in your heads, written down, or computerized? You seem to have an amazing grip of exactly what is available.

A guy I went to school with recently built an off-grid house on the farm where he works. That'll become more popular, houses not plugged into the grid. Centralised power will be more of an industrial need than a household one.@@dalehall2993
