I use powdered milk a lot in the mixes I make and have found a tip that I will pass on. If you run the powdered milk from the box into a blender, food processor, grinder first before your preferred method of storage, it will be WAY easier to reconstitute and won't have lumps.

So…if I may say how I’d do this and let me know if I understand right? Thank you…….So, I open my prepackaged powdered milk into my blender and then pulverizer? Then place it in my mason jars and vacuum seal. Is that correct? Thanks again Danielle……. Oh….the heat from blending doesn’t harm the process? Do I need to leave it out to dry out? I love milk and it’s important to me so that’s why all the questions…Thanks again!!
@danielledunavant3146
@danielledunavant3146 2 года назад
@@cbass2755 I use a Ninja Storm to do this as I don't have a blender but you don't have to do it long enough that it would get hot. Just a few pulses. There isn't anything to let dry after this. Then store it in whatever manner works for you. It just makes it easier later to rehydrate into milk form or into baking form.

Every 8 - 12 weeks I take about 45 minutes and do a 'Shake' of my Gosner's , evaporated milks, juices etc... Because these and a few juices tend to 'settle' and as they age to and beyond their 'best by' dates this settling can get difficult to re-suspend and regular Gentle shaking or even just inverting can greatly extend and improve the quality when you do open them

I have never used mylar bags with the oxygen absorbers, but have some in case my Food Saver is inoperable. Personally, if I am packaging multiple use foods where I have to reopen the bag several times, I would not cut the access off. Especially dry foods. You will get a lot more use from one bag,thus saving money.

I'm totally going to try that evaporated milk with pudding! That sounds great! If you lightly bang the bottom of the jar on the counter top a couple times, it will compact the powder a bit more and you will get much more room in the jar to put more in. I do that when storing my flour in jars. Off topic but I saw DeSantis at the "Let Us Worship" event in FL the other day. He really needs to reconsider running for president. He's got my vote! I look forward to your videos. Seems most prepper channels I watch are couples. One of many reasons I like your channel, I'm not part of a couple, but also have a son. The thing I like especially about your dollar tree hauls, it gives me things to look for. Your dental repair kits..it took me going to 5 dollar tree stores before I found them. At the same store, I found roll on aroma therapy, essential oils. Also found gel shoe inserts & gel heel shock absorbers. And just a couple dollar trees carry almond milk. Happy New Year to you & your son & your viewers. Stay safe & alert. And prep as best you are able. It can be overwhelming at times. I've canned since was was a teenager helping my mom and aunts. It was a huge family project. Everything was from my uncle's garden. We helped hoe/seed and gather, prepare and can. So beginning to the end product. We had the canners and jars. But today if you don't have a LARGE garden to raise you veggies it's more expensive. We had cattle, pigs, chickens and raised all of our meats. Had our own cornmeal processed and bagged up. We picked figs, peaches, and pears from our trees, Blackberries and plums from the sides of the dirt roads. It's not like that today. It's very costly to can today. I found one case of jars during the pandemic!! No canning supplies to be found. So unless you canned prior to the pandemic it's not practical. Canned good are no where near as good but having buying is cheaper. And the time and energy to can is expensive.

I like seeing the grocery haul, but at almost lightning speed with a why'd you included it in your 'What If Preparedness Pantry'. Having your haul spread out on the table or counter, so you can focus your camera & talk without touching or opening the package on screen is much appreciated. The cutting of the Corners on a curve was a Great Tip. I store my unused & recycled Mylar bags in a Copier Paper box cutdown to 5" with an old Tea Towel in the bottom to protect the Mylar bags from sharp items and being folded.

I first found your channel through a food haul and I still love them. Creators usually include more than just the food they buy, like little hints, and I find that helpful. You always include extra tips with your food hauls and I appreciate that. I guess I'm the dummy in the group. I didn't know you push in the button on the lid of the canning jar. I thought it was only for when you use a water bath. Doh! No, I can't believe it's 2022. I remember people stocking up when 2000 was approaching. So many people thought that would be the crisis point, end of the world, return of Christ, etc. Wishing you and your son a happy, healthy, safe and blessed 2022.

I am always 💯 down for pantry hauls. It gives me good ideas, and after I went and reorganized mine today I have a lot of newfound room for things I haven't thought of yet...

@@sunshinestatesurvival thank you! My Target had the MBD 3-tier metal shelves on clearance for 30% off, so I grabbed the black one for 20 bucks! They're rebranding MBD into Brightroom, so I think most of the MBD (made by design) stuff is going to be on clearance.

I would cut the corner of the pouches and slip an oxygen pack inside and reseal the pouch . Jars to take up more room

I do like grocery hauls. I like to see what others are buying. I think that people that are new to prepping would benefit from watching grocery hauls of what preppers buy from the store. Especially that could make a pretty good meal. That's not just chef Boyardee or MREs lol I know when I was new to your channel it helped me stock my cabinets with food for my kids. 💝 I know there's more than just food to buy, but that (food) was the first step here. I honestly love you and your channel and look forward for all of your videos and helpful tips and advice and whatever we should be prepping/buying.

Just an FYI on the Great Value canned chicken. You can order a case of 12 - 12.5oz cans online for $19 and change. It's the least expensive way I've found to stock it.

Good video. 👍 Question: how long do you think the milk will last in the canning jars vs how long will it last in the sealed Mylar bags? Any idea? Either way, thank you 😊
@sunshinestatesurvival
@sunshinestatesurvival 2 года назад
I don't know for sure, but I guess the only difference between them is that the glass jars are clear and if the jars are exposed to light, that could shorten the lifetime...but as long as you keep the jars in a cool, dark place, I'd think it would be close to the same.

You can buy bags of baby carrots or frozen and can them. If you can bottles of water it sterilizes it.

I got my first two cans of spam because of your channel. I'm planning to try them, because I haven't eaten any before (I know crazy). But most of my family are not preppers. I only have a younger sister in Texas who does prep. I'm planning to get my powder milk soon too.

That was really Cool how you did that! I have the same boxed milk, and I was wondering if it could be canned or sealed, so thanks for showing this!
