I retired last year and moved out of an apartment I had lived for 27 years. It took me weeks of nightly carload (to avoid heat and traffic) to empty out the place. I was too exhausted to reminisce these 27 years being from a marriageable woman to an old lady. Looking back I was amazed how much gumption I got to tackle buying a place, remodeling, moving, and retiring all in one year by myself.
I find it so amazing how channels like this change the way you think about living. I would have never known this is a lifestyle without people like Anna.
Love your book collection and outstandingly creative videography. I have read 5 of the books in your collection. Me be simping now, but I know you have no desire for male companionship. However, I know we would be excellent friends with our similar wonderlust adventures, creative interests, and freedom loving spiritual quests. Please Continue to March in your journey and excellent work with your channel. I thoroughly enjoy living as a parallel soul partner with your well thought out postings and in-depth self-reflective thought processes.
Anna can't wait to see what you do next. You have a unique and pleasant way of bringing us along in your world. I will miss seeing you in your van, I love the red colored of your van in a world mostly covered in white vans it stood out.
I can sort of feel your pain -- I'm retired, and also have to downsize. Worse, I inherited my parents' house; my mother couldn't bear to dispose of _all_ my father's things after he died; I couldn't bear to dispose of all _her_ things after _she_ died -- so there's a *lot* of downsizing to get through. Plus a few thousand (not an exaggeration) of my books sitting boxed up in storage. So I understand fully how hard it is to downsize, and how much work it is, and how overwhelming it can be. But: if anyone is going to land on her feet after jumping off that cliff, Anna, it is you. After following your journey for over a year now, I have every faith in you. Just please don't leave us in suspense too long or too often -- let us know how things are going when you have the time and energy to do so. :)
I just stumbled upon your channel today. I'm currently doing a van build myself. I really appreciate the outpouring and honesty of emotions in your video. You're as real as they come; I was moved by your story and determination. Better to end life with great memories and no regrets. And I'll share a little story with you. Almost 8 years ago, I got on an airplane and flew from Alaska where I live now all the way over to Thailand to meet a woman I met over the Internet. I have always really been taken by the Asia Culture and the Buddhist Faith in Thailand and always wanted to go. Scared the living crap out of me traveling that far, not speaking the language, etc. etc. That was about as far out of my comfort zone as I've ever gone. It was so totally worth it. I've loved it, and now fly every year. I'm married now, and going to bring my wife from Thailand over to the United States. We are planning to travel Throughout the U.S. in the van. She's never seen any of it. I'm very excited, and work a little each week on my van build. Dreams do come true if you work at it. All the best!
At 29, I finally found a job that let me see the world, and do things, meet people, and go places that I would never have imagined possible (as someone with agoraphobia.) Now as a senior citizen - I am so happy that I have so many amazing memories and made so many friends - even given that many days were hard it was all worth it.
Needed to hear that pep talk, Anna. I've decided not to renew my lease in Feb. and am going to fly or fall. I realized this weekend that I need to make the leap to nomad living soon for my mental and spiritual health. It's not going to be an easy transition but it's time. Thank you for sharing your journey and inspiring others to take the leap, too.
Not going to lie, I freaked out on the title thinking you were done with van life. Very excited to see the next one. I have always loved your music playlist. I see you use Spotify, are you willing to share so I listen to your list?? Please! ;) I know the moving thing. I'm in the process of moving from SC back to Ohio after 29 yrs. This is the first move where it's all me to rid out, sell stuff, pack up, and get on to the next place. I'll be near my brother so that'll be nice. Maybe now I can talk him into helping me build a van out. He's an amazing woodcraftsman.
On those worm gear clamps you can use a nut driver instead of a flathead screwdriver. Makes it much easier, I used to install dryer ducts when I worked delivering appliances for Lowe’s
I drive a small car that I don't live in but as a work commuter I have an apartment's worth of stuff in. I feel like I need to go clean it now. Thanks Anna
That storage unit looked just like the ones I see on the TV show, based in Las Vegas, "Storage Wars". Make sure to keep up with your rent payments. Wouldn't want to see your stuff go up for auction on that show. Good luck of the sale of your van. 🍀 (supposed to be a 4-leaf clover)
The analogy ....I have to jump, fly or Fail....its a good perspective, being nautical I always loved the quote...you can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore!!! That four wheel future ....sounds like your wings to more adventures....I myself will be doing the same come spring and of coure a TACOMA with a KIMBO!!! Was thinking about VANs but I prefer the light nimbo KIMBO on a four wheel tacoma!!! Cheers, Warmest of regards, 1000 islands Canada
I have been in your shoes. I unexpectedly talked to a realtor who came into my job for a swim on a Wednesday afternoon and 24 hours later there was a for sale sign in my front yard. I had been considering selling my house but it was just a thought. So, at that point is where I jumped, because there was no turning back. It was 3 years ago Sep. 17th when I jumped and Jan. 7th 2023 will be 3 years where I landed successfully in my new home. Everything you are feeling is natural for the current situation. But, seeing you and following you…you are going to land successfully. And I am excited to see the new home (van) once you move in. Congrats…onward and upward if this wasn’t meant to be happening…it wouldn’t be happening.
You've got this Anna! You are young and courageous and have so many incredible adventures ahead of you. We loved your Canada series! It's one of our favorite places. You are so inspiring and we love watching your videos. Last Sunday my husband asked where is Anna?🤣 I'm really excited for you and what wonderful journeys you are going to be on. Thanks so much for taking us along! Stay safe and ALWAYS stay true to yourself. ❤️ You rock girl!!
Anna uncharted You were one of my very first inspos that made me consider living in a van. Something about your storytelling aesthetic drew me in. Last week i got a used sprinter 144 2wd. I'm one phase behind you! Thank you, and know that what you do here matters. To a lot of us.
your rig I'd already clean and as you said nothing is broken that you built in this rig...lucky buyer I would say...I like how clear your mind is regarding letting go and starting something new...not many have that...good going
When I read Preping van for sale, I thought, yes, Anna's going from van life to sailboat life. But then you said you're going to buy a 4x4! Well, good luck to you on that, and I'm excited to see what's next with you. I've enjoyed all your videos :)
Anna, hope you find your next home vehicle. I've owned used car businesses and have found some amazing deals at government auctions. Car dealer auctions are not so good, but for those with that business, they can return a lemon and they will just sell it again. That option isn't available at any other auction. My current daily ride is a 1997 Lincoln Town Car with 49 k miles and always garaged. Super mint. Even has the navy blue canvas top with navy blue paint. They just don't make those anymore. I found it on Facebook marketplace. $6,500 cash. Banks don't loan on old cars even if they are a museum thing. I have had many of the type of vans you are looking for and never paid more than $12,000 and some for far less. I had more trouble selling the 4WD vans in the past as few needed them. But things may have changed now with the van life people.
Good luck Anna.i hope you get the 4x4 you want.Good luck.I hope you get back to Canada again. Here in eastern Canada we dont have snow cap mountains here in New Brunswick, but we have some awesome beaches on the bay of fundy.Hope you get a chance to check it out someday.Be safe and enjoy life.👍❤😘
mini school bus or box truck is better for nomad living. it can carry more water. turn the roof into balcony with awning. so if rain is moderate, u can still stay on the roof.
Happy holidays Anna started watching for van life but that’s only secondary now love your outlook on life your perspective and your talks don’t ever lose that beautiful laugh! Have great &safe travels in 23
I am from NZ loved your videos especially the solitary ones at the beginning of winter. The dramatic in the vistas, the walks and coffee in the morning. Be brave butterfly!
Wow that one shot in the van got to me and made me cry. Both my grandfathers passed away decades before I was born so I never knew them, but I would kill to have something of my dad’s. He passed away from lung cancer even though I got him to quit smoking decades ago. Though I might not have anything tangible from him, all I need to do is look in the mirror and see the mismatched eyes he passed down to me. When we stood side by side, no one could doubt I was his daughter. His generous heart is also something he left behind and I’ll continue to pass it on in his name.
It was good to see you made it home from Canada, I was starting to worry 😎 all I can say about your future, be your own master of destiny…. I wish you all the best!!!!!
Hi Anna, I’ve following your channel for…a lot and I’ve gotten so attached to the way you share your van life experiences with us, I really really appreciate it each and every one of your videos, THANK YOU Anna. I’m going to miss what’s been your home so far 🚐😍. Whatever 4x4 you “ JUMP “ into in the coming days or weeks, I’m sure it’ll be the right one 🙂. Looking forward to this new life stage, greetings from the far-away Barcelona 👋🏻👋🏻🤗.
Hey, I don’t believe I heard much of your famous and my favorite Anna laugh 🤭during this video? Hope you are not feeling too much stress with everything you have going on. Please make sure that you are taking the time to take care of yourself and you slow down enough to enjoy the Christmas season.
Hello Anna! Greetings from Wyoming! I've followed and enjoyed your travels in Canada's and when you solo camped and all else in between. Love your channel and I wish you safe travels, and for you to get all the joy you can from your time on the road. I hope all goes well during your "move out" from your movable home. God bless and happy life,Anna! Jaime from WY.
This is the first time I have watched your channel and just wanted to say, Kudos! I have been a traveler all my life and can confidently say that the swapping and changing does get easier. You think you have a lot of stuff now because it is packed in a 4x4 closet but when you get your new rig it will all fit nicely. As travelers we blow in the wind and follow our dreams. Do what feels right but learn from your mistakes and never stop dreaming. Always take the leap!
Found myself getting a little emotional watching you clean out your van, reminded me of cleaning out all the stuff from my last semi. Good luck with finding a 4x4, hope to see you back soon! 😊
*I've been following your journey for a long time! I'm super excited for your next rig!! The little red van has been a pain at times but also given you some great memories. Well I guess great memories for all of us going along with you. You cleaned the van up really well! Now onto the next adventure! I'll be here!*
I enjoyed this episode! Laughed a lot! I can't believe you're continuing the "van life" with another rig! I guess I just burned out on perpetual travel; like Forrest Gump, I just stopped one day and said, "I'm going home now."
You are such a courageous, unique, creative soul. Super smart too. We are so lucky to be brought along for your journey, to be inspired and delighted, wherever it takes you! Stay safe and keep that awesome sense of adventure!!! Hugs from Canada xo ❤️
Please don't be embarrassed by what you own. Don't allow possession stress you out. ❤️ If that's what you needed at that time it's fine. It's also to have less or more. Stay flexible and you'll experience less stress. Don't be hard on yourself. Hug's.
I’m excited for you. I wonder how much of an influence your trip to Canada, the mud road, and your time with Foresty affected your “jump now” mentality.
i look forward to your downsize, anna. i think about getting a bigger vehicle from time to time (i have a 2005 honda cr-v), but i know living in the confined space is good for me - and it's so much simpler! good luck!-eve
I love the authenticity of your vids so much and the part with your Grand Pop's jersey, it instantly drew a tear, I get it and you have a beautiful soul, stay safe, Mauri Ora From Kevin 😔😌
I'm excited for whatever will come next, what next adventure unfolds. Your videos make me calm, and happy and I get that "fire starting" for adventures.
I can't tell you how much I have loved watching your videos. I have watched them all (all that I can find), and I hope you let me keep on joining you on your great adventures.
Woah, I haven't seen the book "Ishmael" in like 20 years. How neat to see it again; it molded my perspective as a young kid. Really influenced my life. Thank you for giving that to me in this season. I hope your own next chapter is adventurous and fulfilling!
Hi Anna 🤗 I'll miss your red home a little, but I'm excited for your new adventures, have a good time and lovely greetings from Andreas and Balou from frosty North-Germany xx ❄️ ❤️🕊
I always enjoy your upbeat and positive attitude! Hope some of your previous positivity comes back to you in spades, as you say goodbye to your old home and search for (and find) your next home. Stay safe. Stay awesome. Keep in touch. And, if we don't see you here before then, have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Long time no see. It's good to see a post. I love how you made sure the van was ready for the next owner. Not very many people would have gone the extra mile like you did. Great job.
You’ve captured our hearts. This has been so inspiring, watching your three year four wheeled adventure. Thank you for sharing it with us! And all your thoughts along the way. It’s very true, to do things differently than you’ve ever done, does get you new experiences and that awe filled amazement. You are so brave. Can’t wait to see what, where and how you go from here!
Anna the ending of this video had me in literal tears as I’m about to embark on the biggest journey and adventure of my life. It’s getting closer to the date so I’m getting nervous however the spark of excitement was reignited after I watched this video❤ thank you!!!! You inspire me so much!
The storage unit phase. Yes, it makes life easier. I always had an old camping trailer to store stuff in a storage area near Las Vegas NV. Then one day I got stuff down to where I was living in the old trailer. I still own the 1964 Travel-eze.
I'm doing the same thing right now! It's crazy to conclude that a chapter in your life is closing; I've been in my van for three years and couldn't tell you what my life would have been having I had not gone mobile. Bittersweet to let my home go, but it's time to upgrade! Good luck to you, Anna; I can't wait to see what 2023 brings you! (P.s. considered the December Omaze prize van, and I'm sure you did too, haha)
Someone will buy your Van-home quickly just because it’s the cleanest well looked after Van ever!! Good luck lovely, very capable & genuine person! 😍 What goes around comes around u will sell it!! 💜🧑🎄🎄🇦🇺🍻
Happy to hear that I am going to continue hearing from you, Anna! I was surprised by the title of this video. Good luck with this next chapter in your life! And thank you from the heart for sharing your adventures. It's such a joy to watch it.
Wow your really leaving vanlife.. I will truly miss your adventures and carrying us along.. it seems so sad.. and your exciting to see where you bring us.. Sailing! 🙏🙏🙏. I can totally understand where you are coming from.. I'm moving from one state to s whole other.. being at my age . Mature.. is so scary and yet exciting.. 🙏.
Congrats on your van sale & looking forward to see what you get next! Perhaps a Mercedes Sprinter AWD? Although I really liked your red van because you chose that darker red Promaster offers. I'm looking at that color or the dark grey which I really like as well.
Good luck Anna. Happy to see you post. Was wondering where you were, thinking maybe you had gone home for the holidays and taking a break. Hope you find what you are looking for with the new rig. I admire you so much and wish you the very best.
If you think in 3 years you’ve accumulated a lot of stuff living in your van. Try moving out of a house you lived in for 34 years. Eighty percent of the things I’ve horded (lol) and collected i havent used in years and my wife says please try to get rid of it. I can relate with you the emotional aspect you experienced while trying to decide what to throw out or donate or give away also. But i did feel liberated when i downsized to only what i knew i would need in our next place of living. Good luck finding your new home weather on wheels or stationary and try to fill it with only the things you will use everyday. Thats what I’m trying to do. Whats funny though is the 20% of the things i had left over from moving that I thought I needed to take with me i now realize that 15% of that stuff I’ll never use again. I think it’s human nature to want more than we actually need but I’m trying hard not to let that happen again and maybe my story will help you decide what things are important to keep or to part with. I will tell you that less has been so much better mentally then when i had all that stuff. Good luck on your next chapter and remember less is definitely better.
Great video! Totally agree with you on moving, the amount of work it requires. In life the experiences comes with many trials and errors. The plans are never perfect but there's always the learning and corrections that's available to you. I know you'll succeed in your next goals, you've already demonstrated many successes in your past videos. Looking forward to your next one. Stay safe and good luck. WB
I felt the same way when I signed the loan for my Storyteller MODE LT. It was now or never. Now, I live in my van full time and I am so glad I did it. Good Luck on your new adventures with your new rig…
Hello from Minnesota, Anna! Never commented before. Just wanted to say I recently discovered your channel and I enjoy the editing and the storytelling. After having moved many times, and much of that internationally, I get the moments of contemplation of what to keep and not keep, letting go, not forgetting and moving on. Thank you very much for your videos!
