I’m always amazed at how easy you make it! I found an app that saves you greatly on produce, pantry, meats, dairy……I was just looking at what was available today low and behold they have three pretty good size boxes of oranges, missed varieties, but about 25 ish for 3.00! I’m was thinking what the heck can I so with these (my old hands can’t squeeze anymore). Check one of my favorite channels and behold there you are canning oranges! I’m off to get two boxes of oranges. Thank you!

@@shawnmarie4497 On RU-vid, look up "Global reset" for a start. For right now, make SURE you have enough food, WATER, and a way to cook & prepare food without electricity. Buy can soups and chili, canned fruit. Have a light source, like flashlights and batteries, an oil lamp and lamp oil (don't buy paraffin oil, unless that's all you can find. Get pure lamp oil). Candles are dangerous as a light source unless they are in jars. You can get a cheap oil lamp at Walmart right now for $8 and half a gallon of lamp oil for $7. And plenty of matches and the long lighters. Water, food, lighting. A way to cook or heat food. You can also get a single burner stove online or at Walmart for $10. You buy the green propane canisters. The stove screws right on top of the canister. In less than 2 weeks, they might be unavailable. Don't be afraid. Just be prepared. When electricity went out for 2 weeks in S Cal, people were without food, water, and even a flashlight! Don't be that person. God bless!

@@cookiemama4 I agree! I worked in the citrus business for years and this is totally outrageous. We have several local small groves here that offer "u pick it".

I'm so glad I found your channel! I was really looking forward to giving canning oranges a try, and when I finally started the process this morning I quickly realized I should have done my homework about the oranges. After a little research, I have found that navels are best for canning, and at this point (July), I will need to wait until November for them to be in season again. I purchased mine at a large bulk store (the C one), but when I started peeling them this morning it was evident they were all wrong. They didn't peel well, when I tried to separate the sections they kept ripping, and the taste was not good at all; I chalked it up to a still new canner learning experience 😊 I will not be deterred, however, and plan to give this a try again in November.

I think the trouble with using the Classico lids is that it may hold the rubber seal in place even if it didn't expell all the air when canning. This may allow bacteria to be present that you don't smell or see. As my Vet once told me when he saw me give my huge dog a turkey bone, it works well until the one time it doesn't and then the dog may die. I never did it after that. I reuse my lids but only for dehydrated foods which I seal taking the air out with a air pump. That way I don't feel like I'm wasting money. Good luck and even though we have an orange tree, I never thought to can them. Have you ever canned the juice? Thanks for the video.

I've candied the peels (boil them then coat them with sugar) and also made them into a cleaner by soaking them with vinegar in a glass jar then poured it into a spray bottle.
