Here in WV, ...ramps are a serious topic that people mostly refuse to talk about in polite society. Much like ginseng and moonshine stills, their locations are well guarded (and well protected) secrets. Everyone here is very "Copperhead Road" about our ramp patches. Trespassing in WV would be a very, very "Wrong Turn" mistake to make anyways, ...but things can really get out of hand over ramps and ginseng. You might even hear a local magistrate say something like, "Walter, ...dang it, ...you had no right to beat that man unconscious! It's not like you caught him in your ramp patch!" (I'm not even kidding)

Completely understood. We are a bit like that about our morel mushroom hunting grounds. We are so lucky to have ramp patches all to ourselves.

Blessings from Chicago. I get them from the farmers market. I dehydrate them and mix them with green onions and green garlic. I give jars to friends that cook a lot. I use the leaves with spinach and cilantro to make green rice.❤❤

You can dehydrate the leaves, then powder them and jar that as a spice. We mix it with salt and other things for spice rubs.

Yes we have onions that grow year round here but we don't have these delicious ramps. I freeze a lot of my onion greens every time I harvest and getting lots of babies on my walking onions now ready to harvest in about a week for me.

Good grief! I'm 64 yrs. old and this is the first time I've even heard of a ramp! Wow! Since you mentioned about breath guessing it's in the onion family, and grows wild I take it. Can you regrow it like green onions? Amazing. I am going to Google this pronto. As always your videos are awesome and I thank you for sharing. Blessings!😊🙏🌺 You have a lovely place and are a hardworking lady.🐾

I don't think they grow that far South. According to Google: As far north as Canada, west to Missouri and Minnesota, and south to North Carolina and Tennessee

I don't know if they grow this far south? I know dandelions are big here! But I guess I'm not a die hard fan of them!!! On occasion my Mother In LOVE makes poke salad with them! She puts them with scrambled eggs at breakfast! Maybe Ramps are what we call wild onions! Hey Google... LOL! Anyway, Thanks for the video! I just love that you are a wealth of information! Good cinema, comrade. IMPORTANT!!! i just discovered by sheer accident, that flip top cans don't last nearly as long as cans of old. Someone with a bigger channel needs to put the word out that that the expire dates on the new ones are real and Dead on! I have reached out to some of the heavy hitters in our genre and been ignored. If you or someone like you does not speak up, Joe Six Pack and Mary sue are going to wake up one day and find out they have 200 lbs of catfish bait and puppy chow by accident...Merci
