There needs to be an good understanding of Guyana's history as a British colony and the differences between Bristish colonies. Education was not made a priority during colonization. The focus was extracting sugar cane and other raw materials fornthe development and wealth that was for Britain. The focus was always divde and conquer and create subjects. This subjugation has been passed down and generation after generation have some of the population probably have some type of identity crisis. Development of strong self identity and moral identity is crucial to the development of a people. Investment in people is a foundationthst goes hand and hand with development of the country
