Why? he is nothing but a sore loser. Great Britain ended slavery. The most enslavement was done by Africa enslaving other African countries and that is a fact! Look at the pyramids, built by slaves is a prime example.
The disrespect this host demonstrated toward a president of country speaks volumes. This man clearly sees himself as being superior, a product of their culture. Disgraceful
@garyallen8824 The country's size has nothing to do with the fact this host is disrespectful to a President of an entire country. That host is responsible for himself and his family.
The president conducted himself in an intelligent, dignified and composed manner. While the presenter conducted himself in a condescending, ridiculing, humiliating belittle manner. RM’s attitude, body language, questioning revealed his true feelings and distain. The laughter at one of the Presidents answers from the pair was disgusting behaviour. This reminds me of Phil and Holly where the side kick goes along with the horrible treatment of guests. ITV has not learnt any lessons and keeps carting on.
I disagree, the host was posing completely reasonable and practical questions that the President had no answer to or just served up a word salad. Besides the host has to take a contradictory point of view otherwise there would be no debate and it’d be boring.
President Dr. Ali was calm, cool, collected & armed with facts & statistics, while the Brit was on an unhinged, rude, rant & meltdown. Yeah, Colonialists must pay-up...🤑🤑🤑
@@lesliescottw Tell you what old boy, do some research and you will find slavery did not exist in Guyana until the British and Dutch brought captured slaves from Africa to the new world. You folks have the enduring distinction of being the first race (European) to bring African slaves to the Guyana and the West Indies. Ok.

The president came here to speak on the heinous acts done to Afro and Indo Caribbean people. This anchor had the audacity to fix his mouth and posture to condescendingly ask about other atrocities in the world. Not a single one can be compared. We know how many of YOU feel but on a national news station? Run us what we deserve. Your ancestors built empires at the cost of our dignity, people and culture for far too long. This was so upsetting to watch. Kudos President Ali for not losing your composure.
Richard Madeley should be sacked for the way he spoke to the President of Guyana. The disrespect showed was of the highest contempt. He would not have behaved the way he did or spoken the way he did if it was any other Prime Minister.
Unfortunately the media likes to think there view point is always right, the news at one point in time was to listen to the person being interviewed and let the viewers make their own opinion of the facts and by the way respect to the President goes a long way
Richard needs to be put back in his place. He is just but a media/tv presenter. There is an enormous Cavan between him & wot his profession is compared to that of being a duly elected president/prime minister of a county. Respect was definitely lacking on his part and his producers should have told him to reign it in. It’s surprising that no one even had the audacity to inform him or step in.
I am Surinamese and I approve every word of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali stated! The disrespect and caucasity of these British "journalists" is staggering. Shame on them!
Shame on you and Africa demanding money from Europeans when the fact of the matter it was Africa doing most of the slavery on other Africans. Your just salty as the British Empire made it's wealth and getting it's fleet selling sugar. We made an Empire doing that. What the hell did you do with all the slaves you traded? nothing so yer just salty.
@stereosets1 the point is nothing was stolen from you but to get there you have to think about the state countries would be in without European imperialism.
It is good that the issue of reparations is being discussed but Richard Madeley was the wrong person to carry out this interview. He was way too emotional and unprofessional. He would never have spoken to President Biden in such a disrespectful way. Well done to Dr Ali for being so eloquent, calm and sticking with the facts.
The president was very calm and composed and dignified. Very well done mr. President.Keep up the good work sir and wish you a prosperous country full of good people and happiness.
Actually your politician came across as super arrogant, no manners and demanding - that's why he's pissed the host off. If he's trying to win over the British viewers, he'll have to do better than that.
@@sc3304 Speaking of "no manners" your arrogant and desk slamming, pressed host didn't even welcome The President once they went live at 1:52. Would he have done that to another caucasian dignitary? You know the answer. So please go on and elaborate for us more about "pissing people off" and "winning people over" when there's already unwelcoming, prickly hostility from the outset. To put it mildly. Willful ignorance won't do it this time.
That’s what he is paid to do. It irritates me as this is not the platform for this type of conversation. Sure the views will go up because of this staged reaction from the interviewers.
The way this jumped up talk show host talked to an elected president of a sovereign nation, banged on the table, sniggered at him, losing his temper and his general disrespect just shows how much of a racist he is. This ain’t no “culture war” issue, it’s an issue of social and economic justice and the fact that much of the the world that was subjected to colonial rule was left disadvantaged and underdeveloped as a result.
Exactly. He wouldn't talk to a member of the Royal Family like that and would show them respect even though they have stolen wealth and were not elected and did not work hard to get to where they are now unlike the President of Guyana.

As if the reputation of UK TV presenters hasn't had enough of a battering already following the BBC scandal, here comes another idiot (Richard Madeley) to drive another nail in their reputational coffin! How can you reduce the call for reparative justice for centuries of slavery to a demand for a palace?! Serious, professional TV journalists/presenters with integrity are a rarity these days!!
Richard Madeley has exhibited his arrogance and lack of his knowledge of Britain’s role in slavery and how its colonies were exploited. The President made him look like an idiot. Madeley should listen to the Empire podcast with William Dalrymple and Anita Anand.
Never in my lifetime, I’ve seen such an arrogant bigot pausing as journalist of a so prestigious media outlet addressing a dignitary in such a disrespectful manner. I’m 100% sure that he would never, absolutely never address a European leader in such disrespectful tone. This so-called journalist should feel ashamed of himself and should immediately resign as a sign of respect for the viewers. I just discovered this very well educated Guyanese leader. He has earned my utmost respect. He addressed the issue so well. In him, I see a world class leader in the coming years. A true spokesperson for the developing nations.
Thank you Mr President you get my round of applause for sure. We need to keep that chip on our sholders that these people want us to discard so badly and yes we can enjoy the palace our ancestors built when we visit 😅😊 if its still open to the public that is.
Let me educate you about your own ancestors. They built nothing in this country, absolutely zero. It is yet another racist, backward lie cooked up as a scam in order to loot on an astronomical scale. Where are the voices of the overwhelming majority of decent black people that need to call this out for making them look as deranged as these 'people'?
You are right, Buckingham Palace is closed now. Some 'descendants of slaves' broke in and ransacked, looted, destroyed and smashed the place up. Then they brutally stabbed the people that work there with 14 inch bowie knives. You must be proud of your people and their contribution to the human race.
Slaves have left their mark all over UK.liverpool, Bristol Buckingham palace where your queen lived. Go and read history in depth. You all have black relatives in Caribbean because slave women were impregnated and raped by masters. Your DNA is In Caribbean people. You all are still benefitting from slave trade monies. Even white house was built by slaves. Thus Injustice carried on for over 300 years and racism , prejudice and discrimination is rampant. It's not easy being black. Caribbean people have English surnames and the white man's religion was forced upon us. Our identity and culture were changed. Go and read history in depth and u will think differently lighter skinned slaves worked in the masters houses, and they received compensation. Don't u think Caribbean descendants should be compensated? UK hardly helped Caribbean, that's why most islands are independent

President Dr Ifraan Ali you are absolutely brilliant.! This shows how ignorant these “reporters” are. They can never understand because for them it’s the colour of your skin that determines if you are a human being. Watching him stutter, his mocked laughter and was clearly flustered defending injustice. So much was taken from us, including our culture, language, splitting of families as they could not go back to India. It is time. Thank you for taking a stand.
@@joaopedromarques4078 it’s something done 200 years ago but still affects us today…statistics show that more than 68 percent of blacks in th Western Hemisphere live below th poverty line..each carrying a name or names of a slave master while still practicing their culture and speaking their language in a system that exploits and marginalizes them…while there are so many protest begging and pleading for equal rights and justice while their sons and daughters are martyr by this system our ancestors were caught up in some 200 years ago …what happened yesterday certainly affects your today
I would argue that if slavery still affects black people in the Western Hemisphere today then why are only 68% of them living below the poverty line. Surely if slavery is still that much of an impediment then 99% - 100% should be below the poverty line. Perhaps the 32% that are not do not go around demanding reparations and actually WORK for what they have. As a white British person if my bank balance is a little low it is not the fault of the Italians (Romans) or the Barbary Pirates both of whom enslaved my ancestors in the past. It is my my fault for spending too much. How about we all take responsibility for our own lives and learn from past injustices? Money doesn’t heal wounds, time however does and you’ve had 200 years. Move on!
@@clmclmn21 100%. This crooked reparations movement is just a scandalous scam. Still, it makes a change from cities being looted and ransacked by an uncivilised, rioting mob.
What the President is speaking about, The entire world seeing what is going on. Its always this way. Spend money on war, but other countries have poverty. It's sad how people's in high places only want to keep the wealth in only one circle.
That's because it's the 1% controlling everybody and everything creating these problems. Look at them funding the Axis and allies in both world wars. You see now we are all being played?
Independence was decades ago. You have had a lifetime to trade your way out of poverty. Haven’t done it? That’s your problem, not ours. USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and India have all managed it!
Great job Mr President…. No we don’t want their palaces that was built with our resources… I just want to know what my actual last name is… where are the records
The male interviewer was very arrogant in demeanor and delivery of his emanations that did come across to a keen observer with a discriminatory and authoritative tone. These people still think they own and are entitled to run the world. Well , they have to think again for its time for the so called third world to become a first world too. Good job , Dr Ali.

That’s the kind of leadership me need for our islands for this season. Brave leadership, strong leadership, outspoken leadership forward thinking leadership. The likes of Dr Ali, Prime Minister Motley, Prime Minister Mitchell of Grenada, we appreciate you!
Time has passed and they are still reaping mega benefits of their forefather atrocities. So, the descendants of the slave trade should be able to receive reparation too that is justice.
Great job Mr president.... that male reporter was so mad he didnt kno wat to do.... he just got shut up and shut down he started to hit the desk in rage....😂😂😂😂😂 man cant handle the truth and facts..... the palaces we built.... great job Mr president..... full suppport from 🇹🇹......
Idc wah nobody seh the president of Guyana "all ah we" prezi done a great job representing Guyana 🇬🇾. Da man betta know he can box he hand how much he want we does box down ppl fuh talk bout we mutha, mutha man and the mutha land. We president know how to articulate and represent us. Big up yuh self Prezi Ali. 💯
He did a great job embarrassing the country. The stupid ignorant clown should pick up a history book and learn before he goes on TV and embarrasses himself. The fact that you think he did a good job shows how ignorant you are too.
We should increase our resources 20,000 times and if they don’t like it they can leave it. We should not be selling raw materials at all and let’s see where this goes
Great response!!!!! I also believe part of reparations should be creating a database for us to connect better to our ancestors- there were many papers that were destroyed or no trace of our origins. Australia has one for Fiji. Britain should create one for the guyanese. They took away that “great great great great grandparent’s” memory and knowledge from us - so get it back. That’s only the first step.
We didn’t take your great great great grandparents away. They were sold to us by other African nations. If you want to explore your roots then ask them. Of course you won’t because we both know what their answer will be!
This TV Personality is very disrespectful. You people need to have respect. You not supposed to speak to a President like that. That alone show how much you look at these small countries. That TV personality need to apologize.
My experience with them folks is they always try to gaslight black people when we talk about our history. They play like they can't understand but they understand they don't plan to pay up. They don't want to hear how low down they are.
This ignorant man (in my opinion) calls himself “an educated journalist” while addressing Dr Ali the Guyana President, as if he was addressing a child, a school boy he feels he can bully, and NOT an educated person representing a whole SOVEREIGN Nation with his views!!! Well done Mr President for maintaining your composure and not lowering yourself to his level! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I'm from The Bahamas. Excellent interview by President Ali. "We don't want a palace that we built"! As the President says the Transatlantic slave trade was the greatest injustice perpetrated in world history. The descendents of the very first slaves taken from Africa in the 1500's-along with all African slaves sold to slave traders continued to be born into slavery until slavery was abolished in Britain and its territories in 1834. Slavery continued in the US for another 30 years and was finally abolished in 1865. Slaveowners were then compensated for the slaves they had to set free and the "freed slaves" were still held as "apprentices" for another 7 years (in the Caribbean).
These two should be fired for being so disrespectful to a president! Their behavior is disgusting and disrespectful, they can speak without composure and respect! They should be fired!!!!
Please could you tell me the spelling of SHAMED..Brits lives on BLOODY HISTORY.. LOOTERS, CANNIBALS,RAPPERS, DACOITS, BARBARIANS,ETHIC LESS, CHARACTER LESS ,GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE..
Wow. Thank you President Ali for your boldness and courage to stand up for our people in the face of arrogance. No, we do not want England or any other countries to hand over anything we built with sweat, tears, and life to build!!! ❤
When he was questioning about his Royal family’s justice, he forgot to look at his own gesture towards his guest and more importantly to the president of a sovereign country.
Not to mention the fact the uk has only just finished paying the debt off for compensation to slave masters... so how the hell they refer as it being so far ancient ancestors in the past??? If it's that far back why continue paying through our taxes..The biggest insult is the fact that descendants of slaves been here since 1940s some even prior through taxes helped pay off the debt how sick is that???
How arrogant the hosts are! As an Indian I totally support the President in every word. And the superiority is clearly visible though the hosts attitude. Love you Guyana 🇬🇾
If truth be told, Its just one or couple of Countries that have the wealth. Especially Great England. If people don't want to speak up on this, Countries like Guyana and the Caribbean, these Countries Wealth was taken. So I agree with the President.
this male interviewer is rather condescending. What audacity to be speaking to the President of a sovereign nation and be banging on the table who does he think hes talking to, a naughty child? This is the British privilege right there. He could get as angry as he wants the British royal family has a moral obligation to pay reparations and history will not be kind to them on this matter.
The world is churning as leaders like President Ali emerge. There’s hope against the colonial injustices that continue, perhaps more subtly or by stealth!
