So how do they get the vehicles back to DC? I would have thought at least one could be carried in the cargo hold? Maybe a whole other cargo plane carries the cars? Hmmm

Ha! I knew I saw an unusually clean looking 747 and a rare (for a civilian airport) C17 over my head a two or three days ago! Looks like SeaTac was in north flow mode (due to north-south wind) at the time, so it all fits together! SeaTac traffic usually seems to go right over my college campus. (Seattle U) where departing traffic in north flow mode seems to start its first turn directly over my head.
