The world would probably never get over the fact that he died so suddenly and tragically. We lost him. Forever. Plus, we lost Oswald too. So we will never know what was in his mind. Had Oswald lived, the JFK assassination would hv taken a different direction. Or if only Mrs. Marina Oswald said Yes she will come with him bringing the children....
We had a different Media machine back then. There was still a guiding point, a light that people respected. Today money is king, made on "clicks" and Likes, driven by controversies and division.

I think Franklin used to read and often practice trying to write the sentences of some of the books better. He used that skill to insert some key words into Jefferson's like "self-evident" into the constitution when Jefferson asked him for his commentary.
Now the elected officials have been responsible naming our country in the ground . Such polarization of both parties. I think the American people ; each state have an interview panel consisting of various types of people - an interview. That panel decides and holds the politician accountable. None of the Lobby crap either. Then only then will we have a President and Congress serving the people of this nation. They all get flilthy rich being a politician .

To be outlived by one's vision is probably the greatest achievement a man can get. Say about Oswald what you will, but his actions didn't stop Kennedy's legacy, but rather increased mankinds determination to conquer that final frontier of space. In a way, I have to thank him. @@siobhanofarrell4646 he never said covid was a hoax. stuck in the house watching the news all day i would have saw that one. ignoring the dum twitter fights he did a solid job, it was up to the governors to make the right plays(as it should be, local politics matter). i live in the "hot zone" and i watched cuomo fuck up by not doing the most obvious things(ie address the mta and protect the nursing homes). after hurricane sandy we should have been ready for an emergency but nope. local government should have been put in the spotlight during this event. places like california, texas and florida did pretty good but ny is 1/3 the deaths?(ny plus nj are counted together because so many people travel back and forth meaning that ny infected all of them).

@@jimmy2k4o i admit that i am just assuming Soreneson wrote THIS speech, but i do that because we know that Teddy Sorenson wrote all of JFK's "major" speeches, and also wrote JFK's book "Profiles in Courage" for which JFK accepted a prize....yes, most other politicians also have writers.....Nixon, though, wrote all his own books,,,,he also wrote the first and the final drafts of his major speeches,,,,his aides Pat Buchanan and Ray Price polished up the other drafts but Nixon reserved the final say.

Among many addresses President Kennedy gave, this is the best speech of his Presidency. It was beautifully articulated, impeccably reasoned and written, blended with humorous wit, humility, rational analysis, ebullient optimism, and a proud call for Americans to meet the greatest scientific, engineering and most spectacular challenge in human history.
Nobody could give a speech like this man could. His speeches are incredible. This one, is right up there with the Eisenhower speech as the 2 best speeches ever given.
To be honest, this is the man that made me want to become the President of the United States. An individual so passionate about his position to provide hope, comfort, and a new perspective. This man made people think, he inspired and created a generation of people who believed that hard work and an honest heart would bare fruits of success and freedom.
Love love love this speech. My goodness so eloquent. So profound. So educated. This speech foreshadowed so many things to come during JFK’s brief presidency. I wish the good lord never took this angel from the world so violently so soon. RIP always President Kennedy.
When Kennedy dropped his famous line on his inaugural address, a man yelled: “I like your speech! I like your speech!”, this generation deserves a man like Kennedy to lead the United States.
In the obviously unbearable heat within the stadium, JFK keeps people entertained by a good portion of unexpected humour: "Why does Rice play Texas" and "Almost as hot as it here today". Just a masterpiece in all the aspects of a great speech. And a humiliation to todays politicians, wherever they may be.
That my friends was what a real President was all about. Challenging us to strive to be better and to be proud of ourselves. Even though I was a young boy at 7 years old when he was elected I recall how our country rallied around President Kennedy and how we were grateful that he was our president. The man had courage, a true vision of what our country was all about and a whit about him that made you feel proud to be an American. One of the saddest things I read was on July 20, 1969 someone put flowers on his grave with a short note that said.... 'Mr. President, the Eagle has landed.' ”

JFK was an amazing man and president. He was so poetic and he could speak extemporaneously poetically and brilliantly. He was an man dedicated to creating a good myth about society.
What happened to the democratic party? 😔 this is patriotic; this is a big heart filled with courage, honor, loyalty, and love for the American people. This president was more than a public serveant; he was also a leader(occupying this position doesn't make you one), family man, and a human of faith in the lord, country, and himself. I appreciate the immense value of his messages. I am thankful our country has kept them in a high platform for every American to see; and some rest of the World. If JFK were around today Republicans would be calling him an open borders commie socialist for increasing spending on welfare programs and increasing the immigration rate of Mexicans and other latin-americans while decreasing the amount of white europeans.
The two parties, Republicans and Democrats, tended to sit much closer to each other in the 60s than they did towards the far end of their side of the spectrum. This led to great cooperation projects like the Space Race because going too radical meant either 'turning Grey (fascist)' or 'turning Red (communist)' and obviously neither of those would be helpful for a political career during the Cold War. The two parties really began to diverge during and after Reagan because of the same forces that got Reagan elected also began drawing the Republican party out towards its radical wing. The Democratic party then just followed the pressure pulling it towards its own radical end. This process then got doubly reinforced after the Tea Party movement in the 2010s and here we are. Two parties hellbent on destroying the other, perpetually locked into a stalemate with 49% of the vote and completely unable to agree. JFK, if he were around today, probably would not *have* a party because they've both moved so far from where they started in 1960.

There's something cool in how JFK turns around and leaves immediately after finishing his speech, without even taking a look at people applauding him. But it is almost as if he was fighting a fear of public speaking during his whole speech, and once finished he was like "That's it, job done, I'm leaving."
Amazing how he declares surely that that goal would be reached before the end of that decade, that would happen in the sixties. And it happened as he said it would. Nice how he asks God’s blessing too.
Fun Fact Alan B. Shepherd did the first ballistic flight to space approx 15 min of flight time. So by the time president Kennedy was giving this speech United States of America had something about 20 min space flight experience.

I watched this clip again and again because of President Kennedy. This man's thought process and intelligence are something that leaders should possess. I hate to bring this up, can we compare this speech to our recent presidential debate?
The picture quality on this is great. I don’t get the same feeling of looking at a really old reel that you get when watching some of these. You can see the details on the presidential seal, the faces have good color to them and don’t seem like the film has distorted them somewhat. Great speech and glad it has been preserved so well!
One of the best presidents ever. A brave man who had a great vision for our country, who's life was cut short by a coward. This country could really use another man like him right now, but unfortunately none appear on the horizon.
I agree on that (even though I am not an American myself). Kennedy was the "hope" of freedom and a re-birth or even re-education on how to be friends and better deal with each other in tough situations.
Wow! Here I sit in Moscow, Russia, not carring much about Texas or The States... and yet I get the shivers from this speech. In our time when one great nation is run by pretty much a dictator and another great nation - by an arrogant clown, this video looks almost like a fairy tale - how can this be that a leader of a nation asks his people to find strength not in hatred and fear but in a friendship, belief and search of a better future, making of a better future? This is a kind of leadership this world is so desperetly in need right now.
We need to find this spirit again. We vow to relight the torch of John F. Kennedy. We vow to turn back to the things that made us do things because they were worthy.
