When did it become culturally appropriate to actively and repeatedly interrupt the president while speaking. I mean even if you don't like, even if he is a bad president, or even if you aggressively disagree with his policies, have some dam respect for at least the office of president and the importance of his job and time. Has our culture eroded to such a point that we can no longer see the importance of conducting a formal interview with respect and poise or just in general when addressing public officials. This is suppose to be news not TMZ.

I think Cenk's assessment of conservatives hits the nail on the head. When I, as someone who believes in & follows Christ, sees the hatefulness of types like OReilly, Ann Coulter, and Rush Limbaugh, I marvel at how so many so called Christians are listen to them without getting sick in their spirit. And I am glad the president called him out on dividing the nation in times of crisis.

There is one thing I hate about being in the US. I hate how disrespectful we treat our leaders. Do you honestly think someone, especially a reporter (not that the Queen does interviews really), would be able to interrupt the queen for example like that? He doesn't even let President Obama speak. This is our President and he commends some respect. In other parts of the world you just don't see that. I'm not saying it has to be all 18th century, but a little respect would be nice, especially from that slim-ball O'Reilley....who does he think he is?

Samol Duong That's not true, actually. People are not automatically entitled to respect; it is earned through no other way than proof of personal virtue and decency. Bad people get elected to office very often. That does not mean they as individuals deserve the people's respect. I agree with +Jacob Pesquera.

Samol Duong Well, don't be silly, I didn't say the President earns no respect at all. My point was, any respect he expects should be earned, not required. And also, it matters not whether someone is in a higher position than I - what matters is whether that person deserves to hold that position, a question exemplified by the individual's conduct and morality (as far as I'm concerned). A prime example is of George W. Bush: Just because he was the President of the US, did not automatically earn him respect (from me) in spite of his gargantuan and world-altering mistakes. George W. Bush may be a fine father, a respectable businessman, and a clever politican, but none of that defines one's presidency. And it's the same for the current President, and for any past. Respect for someone as a person is incomparable to respect for someone as an official.

As in, every new person you meet should be treated, on a personal, human-to-human level, as though they have a clean slate. With this I do agree, yes. But when I think of respect, to me it is a higher level of recognition/appreciation, one which not everyone is worthy of.

It's a shame that the democrats legitimize fox news by coming onto the channel and speaking with them. I supposed that the channel would argue that their viewers want to be more informed. If that's the case, their viewers would watch other channels with arguments and opinions that aren't their own. Those that are watching Fox clearly will never like Obama or the democrats in general. There is no obligation for any of the democrats (or anyone for that matter) to come onto the channel. It's a private corporate channel, just like every other channel on there. This democrat hate will never stop at Fox news and I sincerely hope that whoever wins the next democrat ticket tells their congressmen/women and senators to boycott the channel. Of course we know that's not going to happen because the democrats are void of any testicles.

Yes, but democrats are scared that Fox news, which (believe it or not) does have it's own fanbase, is going to accuse them of being scared to answer "tough" questions, and then Republicans who watch Fox (ie: those who just like news channels that support their own opinion, yet still claim they are "fair and balanced") will accuse Democrats of the same thing. And watch that pop up in a debate! It's just a dirty political game in which democrats unfortunately have no choice in.

Rosemarys Baby Well, if you want to be pedantic, a terrorist is a person who utilises terror to achieve a political goal, so one could say that any act by a terrorist is a terrorist act, regardless of the motive. An act of terror however is simply any act that invokes terror in one or more person. I suppose you could include the instigator of the terror himself seeing as the term by itself doesnt specify who is being terrified, call it "auto-terrification" if you will. Of course, some terrorist acts are also acts of terror in that those acts involve a terrorist instigating terror. So in conclusion, some terrorist acts are acts of terror but not all acts of terror are terrorist acts.

A rose by any other name. It was attacked by people, sure, call it a terrorist attack, if it makes you sleep better. But the label is not exclusive to "plots hatched by evil darker-skinned different religion believing people that hate US". I agree with Cenk, they're arguing meaningless semantics. Calling it a terrorist attack doesn't add anything, it doesn't solve anything, it does not help to actually get to the core of who how and why did what that day. And calling it 'just' an attack doesn't make it any less of one. O'Reilly is just grasping for very meaningless political straws here. If there is an attack on a compound it is an act of terror. So he is saying that he knew there was an attack, why did he not demand support asap. Because he did not and that makes him a sorry leader.

Because it doesn't work like that. I know for the people who don't work in politics and such it is just that simple but it isn't. There are rules and guide lines he has to follow things have to be investigated documented and the prof needs to be there in the eyes of not just him but of others before anything is done. People are so quick to call him weak and everything else's in the book it's sad. Especially when they have no idea what it's like to be we're he is. When bush jr was in the White House he did A LOT of foolish stupid things but his skin is the same color as the more popular and in many ways popular race so it was over looked. If Obama was white do you think half of the things said about him or done towards him to try and take him out of office would have happened no. I don't care if you say I am pulling the race card , call me a welfare what have you (( even though I graduated from college with my R.N and have never used it neither has anyone in my family)) but it's true. We are seen as the uneducated, trouble making race that can't do anything. This has been playing out for years and it's sad

What makes me mad about the whole thing is that at this point they're arguing semantics and it's irrelevant. The attack itself has been addressed and was done so and agreed upon in its handling with the agreement of everyone. The words he used no longer matter.

The reason O'Reilly brought that stuff up and made such a point of it, wasn't for the argument during the interview, it was so Inhofe and others could go on talk radio the next day and talk about it as if it were a current event, an echo chamber where they are free to make whatever characterizations they'd like.
