Many years ago, rather young, and listening to others instead of the man himself, I realized later than I should have what an intelligent & good man Pres. Reagan was. I have listened for some years now to all his speeches I may, on internet...also have read books (and hear) the many speeches of President Kennedy and find out what fine men they both were. I hope/pray we will have leaders like these two men soon. In 2022 I say this. This a great speech.

Reagan, republicans, Washington underestimated Gorbachev; initially thinking that Gorbachev was a typical Soviet mold of old stodgy generic leadership. As soon as Gorbachev became leader of USSR he was on a mission to transform the country into a modern family of the world. Washington was stunned when Gorbachev brought down the Berlin Wall. How i would have loved to see the US and USSR finally come together in peace after all the decades of conlfict they went through. I stayed lost most of my life searching for the good life and working for something that escaped me. Marriage, companionship, children so full of life, wealth, and friendship, but I had nothing until I was free. After years a hole in my soul was filled in an instance and for good, because of my salvation in Jesus christ. President Reagan, a great man, a great American, still causes a stirring in my heart with his words of peace and strength. We need that so much today. President Trump, in like manor, stirs my heart today and causes me to stop and reflect on that feeling, which brings me to my knees in prayer, for he and his family, my country and we the people. Look at the photo of Reagan meeting Gorbachev in Iceland. Reagan is 75 years old, standing out in the cold and looking fit and trim in a dark suit. Gorbachev, age 55, is bundled up in an overcoat and fedora hat, long out of style in the USA, and looking stiff. Gorbachev was 20 years younger than Reagan, but looked like an uncomfortable old man. Just like the famous photo of MacArthur, the 60 year old general, with Emperor Hirohito in 1945. MacArthur wears a messy army uniform, but the Emperor looks like a Looney Tunes character in his (long out of style in the USA) pinstripe suit and tailcoat. Naturally, Gorbachev wanted to establish a dialogue between the two countries in order to better understand each other. However, it is strange that he did not understand that this performance at the country's main university meant an ideological collapse for the entire Soviet system. The ideological collapse was subsequently followed by the state one (due to the inconsistency and low quality of the complex of reforms carried out by Gorbachev).

Thank you so much for your great messages Mr President Reagan always will remember and Appreciated the Sentiment of university of Soviet Union and United States of America founded on the fact time for choosing I am found this counsel to be true with faith and sacrifices we support forward throughout the world to make changes for better consequences and don't cause unnecessary stress to each person, President Donald John Trump with power effectively forcing the Republic Government, also we were taught about the plan of salvation during pre-earth life which Jesus Christ our lord 🙏 was chosen as the saviour and the light of the world and that through Him we would be able to overcome the effects of our wrong choices and the important part of our Heavenly father plan was for us to come to earth to received a phisical body and to learn to make correct choices, sometimes we would not remember living in Heavenly father is presence but He give us the ability to know right from wrong. Most Respectfully Oscar Felipe Soliz Pagoada

Here is a President almost 90 years old. Folks, look at the huge difference between a real leader compared to what we have today? We are falling as a nation sad to say we can see the huge difference here in this eloquent speech.

It's amazing how Russia stayed strong led by the communist party despite this speech of former president Reagan that is so alluring as he discussed freedom to these university students.

Love the joke at the very end there. Don't think the bulk of the people there could relate. God knows we need leadership like this now. 😔🙏🇺🇸

I pray for the Russian people. They have been through so much due to their government. People just want to live in peace and be happy. That's all we want. We don't want war, violence, or hatred. I've seen war and you do not want it. It solves nothing.

Great speech with one exception, I would have to disagree with the ideal of a president serving more than two terms.
