I’m a Canadian who has followed American politics since the pre Watergate Nixon era. Our US neighbours wellbeing is vital to our success as well. We as a nation are concerned about your safety if the powers to be don’t finally do the prudent thing and convince Joe Biden to step away from his Presidential duties. So deeply sad and disturbing that any organization would allow this act of cruelty to continue for as long as it has. The democratic party, their affiliates and especially the immediate Biden family should be ashamed of themselves for putting not only Joe Biden in a living hell but the rest of the American people. He had his day in the proverbial sun and it’s time for him to call ita day.

My wife, age 75, has suffered with ischemic vascular dementia for a number of years now, and now her physicians are talking "end stage." Fortunately, she continues to be cheerful and non-combatant, yet, despite a host of obvious cognition issues and the inability to converse, she does not think she is sick. I believe old Joe is in the same boat, in that he doesn't know or want to believe how sick he really is. And those in his inner circle likely have no intention of helping him come to grips with that. Too much power, influence and money at stake. Frightening on so many levels! God, help us!

I have advanced Parkinson’s disease - I’m even writing this using dictation on my phone. After 15 years with the disease, I can see it like a hawk in others. The corruption and dishonesty of government, I can get my head around that, what I can’t get my head around, is how anybody could stand by and watch a loved one humiliated on a global scale. Can you imagine? Think of someone you love, struggling with a disease like that, being mocked by millions, jokes about them soiling themselves, jokes about their physical state of being. I absolutely couldn't stand by a watch my dad or granddad face that kind of cruelty. It’s so alien to me.

You should refuse to take a cognitive test if the request is too unreasonable to dignify it. After that debate, it is not unreasonable to ask. So he's refusing because he knows he will do poorly.

If his approval is 36%, then 36% of pur country's people also need to be tested.

I’ll offer My analysis. I have Parkinson’s. So does Biden. I’m 44, diagnosed 15 years ago. I’m unfortunately an expert in the disease and can identify it easily in others. Watching Biden, I’m looking in mirror. Btw, Sometimes my meds work, called being “on”. Sometimes they don’t, “off”. On or off is near impossible to control. I can literally go from off to on during a conversation (like the debate). Because of on/off nature, he will pass a cognitive test if he’s “on” and it will be used to say he’s fine. But if he took the test when “off”, he will not do well. He might even switch between on/off during the test. That’s how unpredictable this disease is. Ask me how I know… Voice and speech changes are common in people with Parkinson's disease. The problem is it's unlikely his condition will get any better as time passes by. At his age even a couple of months can make a huge difference.

This man had a subarachnoid hemorrhage (ruptured brain aneurysm) in 1988 followed by 2 brain surgeries, one to clip the ruptured aneurysm and a second for an additional unruptured aneurysm. He then spent extended time in neuro rehab. This is no secret. It’s in his Wikipedia entry and occasionally-*very* occasionally-mentioned in other brief biographies. He clearly made a good recovery in most respects, but no one comes through all that without some damage, especially with the technology and techniques of 1988. A young healthy person can compensate for the damage to a degree; but that reserve and ability to compensate diminishes with age. His entourage is no doubt familiar with his issues and how to help, but they can no longer hide things. Someone with this neurological history should have had MRI scans and neuropsychological evaluation done and made public before he was ever in a position to have his finger on the proverbial button. If he is in great shape and it’s all a nothing, wonderful! Miraculous! But prove it. This is not about personal ambition, it’s about the fate of the world….

I am 2 weeks away from being 88. I took a complete cognitive test purely for my own satisfaction. I scored overall 29 out of 30. On the memory test I scored only 28, one point down because I got the date wrong.

I think President Trump has learned a new skill we've never seen in him before. He has been relatively quiet since the debate in an apparent attempt to avoid interrupting his opponent while the opponent is making a mistake.

I’ve said it before, I’m not an expert but I recognise the symptoms of dementia from an elderly relative who behaved similarly and was diagnosed with it.

The reality of this situation has nothing to do with Donald Trump or with Joe Biden taking a test. The reality is that this elderly man is not up to performing the duties of his office. He does not have the mental stamina to think and speak on his feet. Whether he can stay on his feet is also irrelevant, unless that is also an indication that he no longer has the stamina for the job!

It's elder abuse to keep this old man with dementia working. Should be enjoying his retirement while he can still recognise the family.

Who knows. My grandfather was very intelligent but started getting dementia, and it was hard to tell what I was walking into when I saw him. One day, he's incredibly intelligent. The next day, he's absolutely bonkers.
