It’s probably considered a total boomer take now, but I’ll always stand by my opinion that Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald are fuckin’ peak. The perfect Pokémon games with great side content, amazing starters, and just generally a really high quality regional Pokédex.
The nostalgia is real for those games. I remember playing the game boy at night, and hiding underneath the pillow when the parents came in to see if I was awake playing it. 🤣 Good times!
@@ammobeltcole2207 I love those games as much as I loved the GBA Sp itself. Being able to play under the covers at night without a flex light attachment was literally gamechanging. Imagine if you told kids these days that handhelds without backlit screens used to exist, they would not believe you.
Let’s go! Another Pokémon banger. Totodile is my boi. I don’t care if he’s a great special attacker. His cheeked up evolved forms tanked so many attacks for me in Silver. Also the side quest on the Citadel involving the AI would be interesting to see the boys play out in the Mass Effect playthrough. Didn’t see it brought up at all.
I didn’t play some of the later gens, but I think they’re pretty much right on the money. I like the Chikorita line a lot though, even if it does suffer because of typing in the region. But it’s fun to pick to make an easy game slightly more challenging.
Fly and Bodyslam abuse. Cut is also op. He just diddles the Elite 4. IIRC it's just the fact he's the only one from the three that can use fly that makes him OP. I also remember Flamethrower as the 4th ability just ripping through any Pokemon regardless of type
He does look super simple, like a child who’d drawn a dragon and reduced it down to basic visual elements. I actually like Charmeleon better from a visual perspective. Blastoise is my favorite of the three but Venusaur is really cool too.
@@Akbar_and_Shaa I mean, That’s a joke right? Because a snapping turtle with shoulder artillery is definitely a more original concept than just a dragon.
I have to say, this may be one of your best videos on the channel. The mixture of humor and analysis is quite spot on and meshes extremely well. It hits the nostalgic feels too as I played every game up to Pokemon Black. I know a lot of us know you for your Mass Effect content, but you prove time and time again that your gaming insight goes beyond that, and you express it quite wittily and smooth. I look forward to every video you release and to comment on it as well! Hope you and all the fellow homies have a great Valentine’s Day. 👊🏻
Nothing tells me the Presidents haven’t actually used Chespin like claiming it struggles with performance. I’ve used it in a casual run and a hardcore Nuzlocke and it consistently clears throughout the entire playthrough, including having the best matchup against that first Bug Gym in spite of being theoretically the weakest for that. Big L on the Presidents take there. They brought me back with their Fuecoco take though, Fuecoco is best boi. And on a side note I don’t want to see George’s search history… 😬
Just here to appreciate the sprig evolution line the respect it deserves. All furry jokes aside its a solid grass starter that has an amazing design reminiscent of a masked magician and has one of the best grass moves in the game with Flower Trick having 70 power, guaranteed hit accuracy and guaranteed Critical hit. It deserves S but Ill be satisfied with A.
I was ready to fight for Charmander, but damn. They put my boy in S, no question. It doesn't help that speed is the GOAT stat in the original fire/red and thats what charizard does. All those ratata you fight early game only helps it.
Would’ve preferred the parameters leaning more into viability. Charmander and Pikachu being S-Tier above bangers like Chimchar and Scorbunny is wild to me. Still love the videos tho and will ALWAYS tune into the presidents ❤
Bush being a furry was a surprise. Barack is also absolutely right, pokemons that are four legged should stay four legged, it’s so weird seeing them become humanoids.
There are SO MANY lists you can make with Pokemon! Like all of Ash's Pokemon (even the ones he released). Best support charactes or companion ones. Best legendaries. Best types. The lists go.on and on!
As someone who loves to use Grass type starters, I did stop playing the main streams after gen 5 so I was lucky to miss the fall of my grass type designs. though later picked up ROMS which used the later and earlier starters. Edit: I forgot about the Grass type owl as that was the one Gen I did not care for the grass type, The water type became my main of that gen and if i lived in the world of pokemon I would choose it as my starter, if possible, as the Fairy/Water type just made the starter amazing and saved me in each of the ROMs i had access to it.
I only played a few of the games. I loved the ones I did play, but I gotta give my choices based on game and show. Squirtle,Totodile, Mudkip/Torchick, Piplup, Tepig/Oshowatt. Stopped playing after those. Favorite is probably totodile or mudkip.
This might age me but my first game was y and i had bought a pre owned copy that already had a fennekin on it. I didnt realize that starting out in a forest with a fire starter and 3 gen 5 monkies wasnt how the game was supposed to go so I just went woth what I had. Fennekin and later braxian and delphox was my first ever introduction into pokemon and for those reasons fennekin is not even in my top 3 starters sry. But nah fam, Delphox is my g but piplup, oshawatt, and grookie are higher up in my heart cuz they real ones but yall are the actual real ones for posting this video so thx
I don't think Sobble was a sniper. The final evolution is modelled after James Bond. A sleek spy. That's what I got anyway. It's set in the UK, so you have a punk rock drummer, James Bond, and David Beckham. Such a positive representation of my culture.
My only 1 problem is Turtwig not being S. Obviously biased on that one but the typing always been one of my favorites and how perfectly it fits the line. Plus he's just cool turtle dude. But good list all around
Can't condone Snivy, or more specifically, Serperior going in D-tier. Serperior is supposed to represent royalty, the Fleur de Saints, the uptilted head, and it's arms clasped behind it's back; It nails the intended inspiration. This decision is impeachable.
Maybe could u do tier lists of pokemon movies I mean some movies made u want to buy the game I still remember the movie of rayquaza vs deoxys and the one movie about darkria
"Chikorita is dogshit!" 🤣 When the galar starters, Turtwig, Tepig and Fennekin is in another class above chikorita due to better design and viability, game freak definitely done f*cked up with chikorita.
Turtwig is the best gen 4 starter it’s type combo as well as mixed attacking style and tanky build gives it the most utility as well as being able to heal and inflict status. Also not to mention if all three starters fought, Torterra can beat both Empoleon and Infernape in battle, it can eat an attack then one shot with earthquake
I think the higher tiers are inflated, making the ratings kinda fake. I feel like any there should be more average ratings and less stellar ones. However, given the format of allowing S tier to be the biggest tier (this makes no sense, but I’m working with it) then this is actually a very good and fair tier list that is mostly good and correct.
All this talk of starter Pokémon has made me remember the event torchic from XY. Still to this day one of the ballsiest things gamefreak has ever done. They really were like, here’s a free starter Pokémon with access to fire, flying, and fighting type attacks that can mega evolve and ALSO has access to speed boost from the very first moment you get it. If you had event torchic, XY went from a very easy Pokémon game meant for a new generation of players to an absolute cakewalk. Man even my dog could have beaten XY with torchic
Glad to see torchic still winning. Trump was wildin about his take about Cinderace. Homie victory pose is knee sliding like he scored the winning goal at the FIFA world cup, fucking love this guy.
I love how they bitched about Chikorita being clapped by most of the Johto gyms, but Greninja get's ROASTED by not only most of the Kalos gyms, but 3/4 members of the Elite 4, and by most of Diantha's team.
Hey I love the love for Mudkip as it and Swampert, fuck Marshtomp, are peak Pokémon, but I cannot let the slander for Eevee slide. Why is Pikachu a ranked as a better starter when only game it's actually good as a starter in is the Let's Go games where Eevee is a better starter especially seeing how it gets 8 signature moves referencing all it's previous Eeveelutions and single one of those moves being really friggin' good, each are 80 base power with a guaranteed secondary effect. Also in terms of popularity, Pikachu might be the most iconic Pokémon but it's far from the most popular as seen in the Google most popular Pokémon poll from a few years back where Greninja won the title of the most popular Pokemon for the second time. On that list Eevee was not only in the final 10 but also it was higher than Pikachu So in terms of popularity and viability in the only games where they're both starters Eevee is superior, Eevee is also the starter of the best Pokemon spinoff Pokémon Conquest, also Eevee is cuter so checkmate.
People hate on the 5th gen starters but gen 5 was absolutely fantastic. Black and white 2 might be the best pokemon games. Great story, pokemon variety and accessibility, gym leaders and progression and probably the best post game.
