@@TheRickdoggie Nah I really don't like the layout of the Studio live at all. I'd can see getting pissed constantly reaching over to navigate in the screen and transport controls. I run a hybrid setup with an RME UFX+ so I don't need all those input channels or an interface,just looking for a control surface. Looking at prices the Studiolive vs getting a Avid S1 with a Dock controller is not much difference in cost. After watching the S1 video I need that Pro ish that just works with tight integration. I never used Pro Tools in all the years I've been producing because I thought Avid was overpriced but now I understand it's the pro hardware gear mixed with tight software integration. The S1 will control other DAWs but if the integration isn't good for Studio one I'ma mix in Pro Tools.

Agreed... I bought a MOTU M4. Wondering if I can use them together, or is that overkill. I bought it from Sweatwater. You think the salesman might have even mentioned anything about this before I bought it?! Most of those guys (like Corey) are just used car salesmen with no clue about any of the shit they're selling. I could have probably just used this with the transport controls as an interface instead of spending money on both of them.

Meters are nice to have, but pretty unnecessary in my eyes, with a daw displaying all meters anyway. Mic input gain is very cool as well, but I use a 73 preamp clone before my interface anyway. You still have good points, but for my case, I’m thinking of grabbing it. Wanted a motorized fader and for $80 more I can get those nice preamps with it.

@@kensmechanicalaffair i really think so! for example i see no point in Komplete Kontrol be called complete without faders, the most important buttons for film composers . One could put small faders like Korg NanoKontrol2 between the knobs and this would multiply the value of this instrument by hundred, principally if you can split into CC and mixer mode easily (what many devices and apps don’t do, and is also ridiculous). Unfortunately i am not a developer;) I would create midi controlers that have always and by default faders in the center, and small led/toggle buttons from 1 to 16 to quickly change channels while playing , omg pls. The model of korgnanokontrol2 is very smart, and could be built in in some keyboards. It misses just a select button (without label). And a knob with button function (to activate the bus). This would be awesome , but maybe the last one is impossible from à hardware point of view (on budget) In ine hand it is marketing, in other hand it is about talking to normal people who use their devices professionally for true creative purposes

@@TheFunkwallace I found a good deal for a RME Babyface Pro FS, so I ended up adding an used Icon Platform M+ which can be found cheap in Europe. Nice combination, although more expensive. An all-in-one device like the Presonus is cool, if it works as intended. I prefer the RME preamps over the Presonus ones.

Thanks for your interest! The Touch/latch button engages automation on whatever track you have selected. Default is Touch mode, which allows you to modify in real time by touching the controls. Pressing Shift + Touch engages Latch automation, which is similar to touch with the exception that when you let go of the fader the track will ‘latch’ on to wherever it's left at and continues writing over everything as it plays through. Which version of Studio One did you get with this controller? Version 4 or 5?

You should just get an AkaI MPD216 16 pad drum controller ...this is for Controlling a DAW not at Drum plug in, i use EZDrummer 2 with the Mpd218, i also have a lpd8 and Mpx8 and Mpk mini mk2 with 8 drum pads...... I do alot of drum programming....the MPD218 recognizes after-touch so you can tap out cymbal mutes among other things and you get a bunch of free software. and a REAL Drum controller that is plug and play with S1 5pro and all Toontrack software. If you want to on the fly be able to change midi note assignment to the pad get an Mpx8 sample player.....no banks but 8 pads that you can filter thru the entire Toontrack sound-bank loaded with the chosen kit. The editor for the other pad controllers works but you cant filter thru on the fly by turning a knob and changing the midi note number of any given pad...... I am left handed so I like the Kick and snare pads flipped from what is usually programmed into a preset....... SO DAW controller for DAWS and DRUM CONTROLLERS for DRUMS ok?

It will work great with Premier Pro, both as an interface and controller, when using either MCU or HUI mode. At the end of the day, your mileage may vary in concern to an SM7b. @@sweetwater Interesting... thats a configuration I can explore..... I have a FP8 in rented studio and an IOstaition at home studio, never thought about how they might integrate together although most of the functionality is just duplicated so im not sure if there would be any real advantage except the IO stations higher sample rate capabilities..... my rented studio has a Berhinger umc1820 (24/96 18in 20 out with expansion , 10 in 10 out by itself) the beringer is nice with S5 and lets outboard gear get integrated right into an FX chain in S15 using my hardware in / outs.

@@novacainemuzik the interface works as described. I'm still learning how to use the software. I know exactly how I want the songs to sound I'm just having troubles manipulating the software and moving around and about. I'm not familiar at all with studio one. The unit world's great so far.

Hello! Thank you for your interest! You can absolutely use an external mic pre with the IOstation. The 1/4 inch TRS inputs are line level so you would just need to make sure you have an XLR to TRS cable to go from your Avalon to the interface. Is there a port for xlr and line in for guitar

@@xoxo-pp7ru No XLR, and the line-in impedance of the mobo is probably too low for a guitar, but a simple DI box should fix that.
