Thanks for your video, fantastic presentation and very informative even in 2023! Just purchased this week and have set-up. I'm already receiving compliments on how great my microphone sounds during Team calls. Probably more features than what I need but it is nice to know that it has such comprehensive features.
Here’s a BIIIIG use for this product that wasn’t talked about: gamers who live stream! It has similar functionality to the Go XLR by TC Helicon, but cheaper and mic is included!
This is actually a pretty good tour. What is very important to note is that Universal Control is needed, and it makes the microphone hardware essentially your DAC. If you're toggling between applications (I juggle multiple DAWS) it's better to make your source decisions here for everything, at least when in mix mode. I wish it had an extra port and an A-B switch to toggle between phones and speaker monitors. (Hint.)
Thank you for this - it was a very informative demo and interview. I appreciate Rick Naqvi's input, but the number of times he says "you know" is quite disconcerting for a professional interview.
You showed us where you patched in your guest but you didn’t show us how it’s done! I am literally trying to put together an interview next week and I need the how tos! Thanks.
Stereo recording would have been nice. The other brand has 4 recording modes I believe...That can be the difference between buying this mic or the other brand. I'll wait for an update to buy it. Add stereo recording mode and you've got my attention.
Still watching your review this is wonderful. I just bought my mic yesterday when I returned the AKG. The Revelator sounds really good. I have an HP Latop I bought my mic to use it with OBS since I'm still learning my mic IS THERE A WAY I can also hear my background music with headphones or not. For now I can't hear my music until I hear my play back. Your review is awesome thank you so much Sir.
This was awesome I will definitely follow. I have the Revelator mic and I want to use it with my android along with my iPad Pro. Is there a video set up step by step?
This mic has a threaded connection on the bottom and it comes with an adapter to accommodate standard mic stand mounting. Thanks for the interest! Cody Kraus, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1766, cody_kraus@sweetwater.com
Cool concept but both of mine have a lovely 60Hz hum only on either of my MBPro laptops but not my Mac mini. If I unplug the wall wart from my MBPros the hum goes away. Also found it had to stay on the table stand. I had to make sure the side screw was nice and tight. If it wasn’t tight I could wiggle the USBC and I get nasty crackling and that lovely 60Hz ground hum. Which means the threaded bottom mic stand adapter is useless if i have to keep the table stand attached. How dumb would that look on camera. So my thought is that when it works it sound very nice BUT the handling noise Is awful. Don’t try to press buttons on the mic when it’s “live”. I don’t understand why they didn’t put a better solid body with better handling noise especially if you need to turn the volume up or down. I’m probably sending this back to the store and wait for Shure to make one.
Very impressive -- I just ordered it from Sweetwater. Question: If you customize the settings in the software -- like EQ, Compression and Gate -- is that info "stored" on the mic, so that those settings will be applied if you later plug into a computer that does not have the special software? (Seems a big ask, but I thought I heard that about either this mic, or another with similar functions.)
Hey, Dan! Great question. You can save the preset when using the software and save up to four presets on to the mic itself (plus an additional 8 into the software). You will still be able to cycle between those four presets on the mic if you plug in to another computer without the editing software. Let me know if I can help with anything else! Even though there's a pretty decent price difference between the two, I hope someone does a comparison between them! I was about to take the plunge into the MV7 today until this just popped up in my recommended videos. Now I'm stuck lol
It has such a great feature, but only one thing I'm concerning is that there is a rumble sound when you touch it(to push a button, or when the interviewer hits the table). I wonder how much HPF can cover it. You can feel exactly same thing in presonus PX-1, which is a great mic but there is a huge rumble on low end when you touch it. It will be much better if Presonus can fix those on next products.
@@BrunodeSouzaLino well I think that's the problem, that it should be solved with shock mount. I'm pretty much a big fan of presonus, and I just wanted to tell them what should be fixed.
I just bought this to use for recording my electric guitars and really all my music recording. I saw they say it's good for acoustic guitar but will it be okay with my electric guitars ? It's going to be picking up a fender hot rod deluxe IV. I've never recorded and want to start and this seemed like a good way to jump in but now I'm worried.
Every time I record or stream using my phone/iPad the audio goes only to the left side for the audience, I've tried every possible solution but nothing works and the support is useless. Definitely don't recommend if you're intending to use with your phone.
I have the EXACT same problem and the support refuses to acknowledge this, I tried everything possible and still on my lives the mic only comes out on one side. Definitely don’t recommend it if you’re going to use on your phone.
looks great, sounds pretty good as well, Lots of DSP for anyone who wants to dive into it. Does this mic come with an attachment to mount on a regular mic stand? looks like the table stand is the only option. I'm sure the presonus guys wouldn't have forgotten that. thx
Hi, Steviee8. Yes!
After watching your video I purchased the Revelator. Does it do all they say and sound as good? Yes! However, there are some issues. The microphone housing is very sensitive to touch, so much so that using any of the front controls buttons results in undesirable noise. Touching the table, moving the headphones cable or touching the usb cable is as audible as taping on the microphone. Using the mute button causes a pop that is not heard when muting using the software. Because of this I feel the front buttons are unusable during a broadcast and the if you move around to much your headphones cable will mess up your audio audio well. Presounus needs to isolate the diaphragm from the rest of the unit.
all he has to. do is hold monitor button till the knob turns green, that controls the gain, then he can just tun down the input gain.i use it for mobile recording on my ipad...yes my ipad
I want to know how to store the mic presets, load them to the 4 on board presets and how to store and recall the different scenes you create for different application uses. I have looked through the manual and can’t seem to answer these questions.
Hi, James. Great question! This one is a bit too complicated to go into detail here, so please give us a call when you get the chance and we'll get it sorted out. Thanks! Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com
Hey, Michael! No, technically you can’t use 2 Revelator mics within that software at once. Reason being, it’s extremely convoluted to run multiple USB microphones within one computer at a time, as your computer will have to choose one or the other of those USB inputs to receive audio input. So, with that being said, if you’re wanting to run multiple microphones at once, you may want to look into some XLR microphone options. This, with an interface, will allow you to run as many microphones into your computer as you need! Feel free to reach out with any further questions. We’d be happy to help out. @@j.rozman7016 This Revelator mic is outstanding and it's onboard processing would certainly come in handy (especially if you dial in a preset for recording your guitar), but I'm not sure if it would work with a phone. The Shure MV88+ is designed from the ground-up to work with a phone: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MV88P--shure-mv88-video-kit It could be a good fit for your needs, but to make sure you're getting exactly what would be best for you, I suggest talking to a Sweetwater Sales Engineer... 1-800-222-4700 (they can also text you if you give them permission to do that, if you'd prefer texting).
How does this work for multi mic setup? Are you able to plug in another usb mic/ interface to your computer and route it through the digital mixer app?
Thanks for your interest! At this time Presonus doesn’t support connecting multiple USB mics simultaneously, so there isn’t a direct way to do this. An audio interface and XLR microphones may be the best solution for a multi-mic setup. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions! can you use this microphone with the bundled software to control the functionalities like the loop back function with other DAWs like Audition? and how do you set it up to work with Zoom for streaming?
Great question! The Revelator has two loopback inputs that can be used with the included Studio One artist software or any DAW. It is also relatively straightforward to use with Zoom, though. You will just select it as the primary input/output source within the program. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out. Thanks! Can you have multiple guests with individual channels from zoom? In others words can I have each guest feed to individual tracks in studio one thru the mic app?
Hey, Mark. Thanks for reaching out, it's Mickey from Sweetwater! After a bit of research, it appears that you can only assign a single audio output feed from the Zoom conference as a whole. However, you are able to assign multiple applications to one of the 3 stereo "virtual" playback channels on the Presonus Software, which can be assigned to channels in StudioOne. So this is not a limitation of the mic or its software, but rather that of your other applications. Mickey Cushing, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3024, Mickey_Cushing@Sweetwater.com
I am very interested in this usb condenser mic. I am looking for a usb condenser microphone I can record drum covers using drumless tracks from my iTunes library. Does the onboard interface have recording capabilities? If it does not have recording capabilities is there a way for me to use the usb microphone directly into my iPhone 11 or iPad using an OTG adapter? I most likely with need a powered USB hub. A two USB microphone setup would be ideal. Thanks,
Thanks for your interest! The mic is compatible with android and you can plug in directly with USB-C to record. The control software isn't available for Android, so you will have to load any presets on to the mic using a PC or Mac before recording on your phone. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Does it have a delay to match broadcasting latency (offset). I need that option to be able to use it at the same time with an external camera for my live shows/. Sounds amazing!
That makes sense now as to why Shure has a touch interface on their MV7 which is what I’ll be comparing this one with. Now that you mentioned that I already have buyers remorse about this mic and will probably keep the Shure lol!
@@TechOutAdam or you could very quickly mute (using the button) and unmute between switching... or change it in the app... or use the hot key bind that you can set up in the app to change to a specific preset.. think I’ve made my point 😜
Hey there! Thanks so much for reaching out. The Revelator requires Windows 10 or later, so you’ll have to update your Windows OS in order to run that software. Feel free to reach out with any further questions! Nick Pasquino, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3230, nick_pasquino@sweetwater.com
Yes i have this mic i. Use it on. My ipad exclusively. I connect it to my computer to set up the compressors and Eq, ect. Inside FatChannel inside the Revelator software then i save my presets to the mic. So when i go mobile recording i have the DSP to have the vocal processed through Presonus Channel Srip as I record to BeatMaker 3, Auria Pro, ect. Its the best!
Yep, you can! The volume knob controls the overall headphone volume by default. You can press that knob to mute the mic and still hear the computer audio or if you press the monitor button you can use the volume knob to control the blend between the mic and computer audio. Let me know if you still have questions! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Hi, Cameron. Great question! Since there is only one audio output on the Revelator you can only use headphones or speakers, not both. You will not want to use speakers while simultaneously recording. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks! Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com
Hello, George! Thanks for reaching out, it's Mickey from Sweetwater! The mic is capable of 110dB SPL, so it would be possible to record most guitar amps without issue. In terms of how it would sound, that would vary on what you were looking to get out of it. Keep in mind there are dozens (and arguably hundreds) of mics that are synonymous with guitar cabinet micing, and what you find ideal may not be the same for another person. From what I can glean from the manuals and other posted stats is that the mic needs the control software to access the parameters, meaning you would not be able to alter settings without it. It should still, however, show up as a usable source on a PC computer without the software installed. Mickey Cushing, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3024, Mickey_Cushing@Sweetwater.com
