Are you ever gonna try to recreate your old Schilke 53-59 with a Doug Elliot set up? If not that’s completely understandable considering the price of DE setups, and that the SM3X is a good mouthpiece. It was just something I was curious about.
I just got a new Shires large bore tbi27s as a gift. It appears it has no lead pipe change out option. I am happy I got a new horn just wish I had the option to tinker with lead pipe options.
I know this video is on the older side, but. Wouldn't a lubed o-ring at the top of the press fit pipe (just below the ring) seal better and also cut down on spinning?
@@AidanRitchie Assuming the venturi taper isn't too extreme from end to end you could probably stretch it just enough over the bottom end to make it's way to the top. From there the o-ring should have enough outer clearance to grip the lip of the slide tube. All theory, I don't personally have any press fits to test this with, if you'd want to give it a try.
Hi! I have a Shires trombone and it has leadpipes. My original is at little bit brown colored at the end, maybe water contact, tell me if is this normal! I can also send you a pic on mail if you wanna see.
