Press Your Luck: 4 Whammies in a row! (UPDATED) 

Some of these players were bad, some weren't. Let's look at this objectively. Paul - The first spin you can't entirely put on him. He hit the button when there were only 2 whammies on the board (which I'd call a generally "safe" board), and the board changed right as he hit the button. A bit slow and it cost him, but not the worst. Second spin, board changed as he hit...but he still hit the button on a 3-whammy board, this is bad. Third spin he hit the button on a 3-whammy board where there was a 0-whammy board a few seconds prior. Fourth spin, board changed as he hit the button, again, making a non-whammy space into a whammy - but he did still hit stop on a 4-whammy board (that transitioned into another 4-whammy board.) Dave - First whammy the board transitioned as he hit the button (seems to be a common theme here...) Seconds pin - same as Paul's fourth spin, caught in transition, 4-whammy board to 4-whammy board. Third spin was not AS bad, hit the button on a 3 whammy board. Fourth - this was just unlucky. It was a 3-whammy board, but the light was just moving AWAY from a whammy, so it only had a 2/17 chance of moving to another one. Effectively this was almost as good as a 2-whammy board and he just got got. Mona - First - 5-whammy board. Oof. Second - exact same set of circumstances as Paul's fourth, but slightly worse because there were SO MANY 1 and 2 whammy boards prior to this she could have stopped on. Third - just got fucked by being too slow, there was only ONE whammy on the prior board, the board changed when she hit the button. Fourth - EXACTLY Paul's fourth whammy circumstances AGAIN. Tinker - first one was not overly offensive, 3 whammy board transitioning to 3 whammy board. Second - this was BAD, 5 whammy board she chose to stop on when there was not a single whammy on the board two cycles ago. Third - THIS one was atrocious. Possibly the most out of all the spins in this entire video. 5-whammy board, and the light was on that whammy long enough she could see it was on him by the time she started to hit the button and STILL didn't pull back. Fourth - for how bad that previous one was, this was just unlucky. She managed to hit the only whammy up there. Long story short, you have players that don't even bother looking at board composition, you're going to get things like this that happen. You don't need to be Michael Larson to know that if damn near a third of the board is yellow, DON'T HIT THE BUTTON!

They were the unluckiest players ever. I wouldn't call them "the worst players".

Confirmed list of players with four in a row (# in first round/# in second round): Cre from 42 (2/2) Otis from 121 (2/2) Carol from 244 (1/3) Ed from 312 (0/4) Paul from 443 (0/4) Kimberley from 485 (0/4) Mona from 542 (3/1) Tinker from 551 (2/2) Lorraine from 631 (3/1) John from 694 (2/2) Dave from 711 (0/4) Kimberley and John were seated in the first spot, Ed was in the second spot and all of the others were in the third spot. And, as mentioned in other posts, Mona and Lorraine got four whammies in only four spins taken for the entire game.

Thanks for the upload :-) . I agree that these all sure are four-in-a-row consecutively with or without a break in between since no money or prizes were accumulated at all between whammies.

I wouldn't really call them the "Worst Players Ever." Maybe a better fitting title would be "Players with teh Worst Luck EVER!" But that's just my opinion.

The players shown in this video, as well as others mentioned by other commenters, had bad luck rivaled by the contestant who, in 1980, played the Money Cards on Card Sharks and hit FOUR threes in a row before the adaptation of the "doubles push" rule that was enacted on Card sharks later that year and carried to all subsequent versions. Amazingly, that contestant did NOT bust out on those four successive threes and I believe won a small amount on that particular playing of the Money Cards.

Of those four, Mona would win the prize for hard luck for she was the only one to not accumulate ANY money for that entire episode. (She took exactly FOUR spins in that game, 3 in round 1 and the 4th in round two and all were whammies) On the flip side, she was the only returning champion among those four and left with almost $23,000 in cash and prizes.

Dave! That's three in a row. You got three spins left and three whammies. One more whamny and you'll be out of the game. We don't want that.

Here's another one: Episode #695 (5/28/86) John/Mona/Sandra (obviously not the same Mona in this clip) John whammies on his last two spins in round one and on his first two spins in round two. This episode was more known for Sandra hitting Add-A-One in round one and finishing round one with over $15,000 only to lose it late in the game. Mona ended up winning the game with three whammies on the last spin which was passed to her by Sandra (if Mona would have whammied on the last spin, Sandra would have been the (4th?) person to win by default with $0)

Nobody has ever has four whammies in a row!

LOL Found 1 more again... #244: Susan/Todd/Carol... Carol gets a whammy in R1, passes her last spin to Todd.. Then in R2, she hits 3 in a row for a "technical" 4 in a row whammy out

Another bit of irony....ALL of the players involved were in the third, or far right, position...And based on the previous posts, everybody except one person played from the third position when they accomplished this feat.

That's not what I meant. In the first 2 clips the players hit 4 whammies in a row (consecutively, without stop or pause) in the other 2 clips they hit 1 or 2 whammies in R1 and then hit the remaining whammies in R2 (non-consecutively, with stop or pause due to going back to the question round to obtain more spins).
