This was great! I'd love to see another video on the non-basic feet.

As a home sewist with only a sewing machine (no serger or anything else), my two favorites other than the standard food are the metal invisible zipper foot (no silly plastic thing for me-- game changer), and my new discovery of the overcast stitch/foot combo. Love your videos!

I have a Bernina and they don’t make the old form of straight stitch foot (like you have). I miss it! When you are sewing thinner fabrics, or even quilt fabrics, the fabric tends to push down into the machine because the stitch opening is too wide (allowing for switching to wide stitches with ease).

Have you considering getting a throat plate with a narrower needle opening to switch out when you’re sewing thinner material?

There is the straight stitch plate. There is also the 1/4” foot number 93(I know it's in the 90’s). There is also the jeans foot number 8 (C or D). Along with the straight stitch plate this will see the most lovely stitch - be the fabric light to heavy. I've had a Bernina for forty years and there is always a way.

Can you do a vid for the narrow rolled foot? I have one but have never been able to get it to work, can you use it for thick material or only for thin fabric? Thanks

While I primarily straight stitch with my vintage machine, no mention of the non-industrial zigzag foot? FYI, when I do zigzag, I hand rotate the hand wheel at the start, to ensure that I have adequate clearance. Great video. Love the channel! 🥰

We actually never use the zigzag foot because our industrials do not have zigzag capability so we don’t keep any on hand, though for the record, I haven’t used a zigzag stitch in years so I don’t find that it holds me back or impacts my personal sewing.

That is a good habit to get into. I learned my lesson once changing from zigzag to straight stitch foot. That’s how I broke a needle! Hand rotating that wheel would have prevented a broken needle.

Great input. Thanks! What techniques do you use to provide elasticity/stretch for knits and/or fabrics that need movement?

Rolling feet. Common but no one talks about them. How do you compare them with the Teflon foot? The other feet I use are overcasting and blind hem feet.

Unfortunately I have never mastered the narrow rolled hem foot (my wife has). I think at my age its not on the high priority list 😊. I do love the invisible zip foot, that was a learning experience during COVID.
