Thank you, this is fabulous and a brilliant way to deal with flat felled seam alterations. It looks so good & professional, and you have reassured me that it’s a perfectly acceptable way to alter those pesky seams!! Shirt seams are often glued I find, which make them extra tricky to handle. Thank you so much!!

I actually have another question/suggestion. Unattached/kinda floating pockets. I have a multitude of dresses, skirts, vests, jackets and wide leg trousers that have pockets that are only attached at the opening and then the rest of the pocket dangles freely inside the clothing unattached. Sometimes the pockets weren't put in properly and keep popping out and in some other case the floating pockets bunch up making weird shapes inside the clothing throughout the day. What are some variations of attaching it to the front of the garment or fixing it into a more stable position? And what makes it impossible or inadvisable to attach it at all? So far the only method I can think of was to just sew the pocket onto the front fabric of the garment to attach it but even on some of my thicker fabric garments (like thick heavy brushed cotton vest for colder weather) it doesn't seem to work out that well. Nevermind the light-weight or medium-weight summer cottons and linens I like for a lot of my dresses, skirts and wide leg trousers. Especially linen fabrics seem to give me the most trouble. Even my favorite cotton anorak has a somewhat floating pocket which sometimes bunches up between the outer jacket material and the lining. Strangely enough so far the only time I had luck attaching the pockets by just stitching the to the front of the garment and it not looking bad and being functional was in more medium and heavy weight somewhat stretchy polyesters. I must be doing some steps wrong or maybe there are different methods to stabilize the pockets inside the garment besides attaching the to the front fabrics.

Very cool video. I enjoyed the mindful, creative planning to minimize the attention to the dart itself. We don’t have to be perfect, but thoughtfulness can increase our satisfaction. 👏👏👏

Very nice work on the coat and trousers. A before and after on a model (your husband?) in the future would be great to show the tailoring effects.

Same as the pants - before and after fittings would help. You don't even have to include the face. Can be still photos, even.

Just watched your "3 alterations for jeans" video. What I need - for every single pair of jeans that I own - is more belt loops. I cannot keep my pants from falling down underneath the belt. Don't care if the material matches, but don't want to have seams inside the waistband rubbing my skin. Ideal installation would require minimal/no seam ripping. Can it be done?

What if the jacket/shirt doesn’t have gussets just a side seam does this technique still apply?

Can this be done on men dress shirts?

Yes but to a lesser degree as the material is thinner.

This is so wonderful that you are showing this to work for a non Military uniform. All Military instructions guidelines state that the uniform can not be changed, and you took out the side panel out of the regular design. I Suggest you read your husband's Rags. This is a uniform. You can take in the back but you have to open the sides to do it. I still enjoy watching you. But this is wrong.

As the alteration does not permanently change the top and it can be fully reverted back to its original state as we did not take out the side panel, just darted it. No regulation issues that I’m aware of.

Naval uniforms can be tailored to fit under most circumstances, so that’s not correct.
