Nice comparison. You can even hear it coming through RU-vid. I’m glad I grabbed the reissue. That being said, from a collectors standpoint, I’d still love to have an original pressing. 😁
Very cool video,Steve.Even hearing it on RU-vid,I can tell the 2018 pressing sounds better.I have the 2015 180 gram reissue,which isn't remastered and it sounds like crap!Very flat and watered down sound.The highs are there but the low end is nonexistent.I will definitely try and get the 2018 pressing.Thanks for uploading this brother.Take care
I have the 2018 reissue and always thought the sound was great. The difference on your video is significant. I love these kinds of videos. This was so interesting. Happy 2020!

You picked a great first album for this, not only because it's an all time classic but also cos I have both myself 😀. I'm going to have to listen to the OG again and see if I spot the issues you brought up. I'm not really musically minded so don't tend to spot those things unless someone points them out to me. Great video Steve!! I love this type of topic! Your videos on the volume wars and cd pressings were very informative and eye opening. It’s too bad the original doesn’t hold up. I need to go listen to my original again and compare to the later pressing. I have an original cd too that probably sounds flawed also. Good stuff!!! Happy New Year to you and your family!!! It seems to be hit or miss. I've got LPs that go both ways. With CDs I find that the earlier pressings are generally better as they are not as compressed and the volume isn't cranked up across the mix. These types of videos are some of my favorite as well. I keep saying I'm gonna do more of this type of stuff then just don't get to it. Decided I'd stop putting it off, new year and all.

I listened to the clips thru my laptop without the headphones, so i don't know if it's anything to make a decision on. I preferred the original. Especially on Paradise City the drums on the reissue sounded awful. Pasi
I know what you mean, but the pressings I have both have that issue. I have not heard a pressing where I think the drums sound great. It's all a matter of taste though. I don't like the Garage Days reissue over the original, but when I mentioned that in a video, most seemed to comment that they preferred the reissue. That's why I like having the video clips as a starting point. I hope all is good Pasi. Happy New Year.
