4:38 was the missing piece I needed to understand how the pressure compensator works. Thanks for this great video

This is really awesome, so much better than my Amatrol book. Thank you so much for explaining these components in an easy way to understand.

Thank you Karl. Would this be used on a mobile crane winch?

A thing worth mentioning could be the area of opening of the restriction (needle valve), lower delta pressure for the higher area of opening maintains the same flow.

How will you set up spring pressure after you change needle valve setting to change flow ?

Hello. If towing and umbilical winches work at the same time from 2 variable dipalcement load sense pumps with total output flow 390lpm, so they should have pressure compensators in theirs manifolds? Towing ad umblical winches have proportional valves with flowrates 300 lpm and 100 lpm.

Did I miss what happens to the comp spool when you change the value of the needle valve?

nothing happens basically. Compensator is responsible for keeping a more or less constant pressure differential over orifice. Orifice equation gives you an idea of how much flow can you get, depending on the pressure differential and orifice opening. Så if you further open needle valve, flow will increase, if you tighten it, it'll decrease. It's simple as that. Of course, if you want to have fine control, this is not a good option.

how do you make his animation/simulation, i mean what software ?

We've got some information about how we make these simulations here on our website: www.lunchboxsessions.com/help/what-software-do-you-use-to-make-the-simulations

So flow volume and pressure increase simultaneously to maintain motor speed with the additional weight?
@lunchboxsessions
@lunchboxsessions 7 лет назад
Almost but not quite. The additional weight on the brake shoe/brick stacker is what causes the new, higher load pressure as sensed by the right hand gauge. In a basic needle valve with no p. compensator, the change in pressure differential across the needle would mean that flow rate through valve would decrease. So, in this pressure compensated flow control, the new, higher load pressure together with the spring, moves the compensator spool to set a new, higher pressure on the inlet side of the needle valve, thus holding the flow volume as you say, dead steady - or really close to it. It's a cool valve isn't it? Thanks for writing. -Carl

Thanks. Definitely a very interesting valve. Hat's off to the inventor.

Why the inlet pressure value(2000 psi) still constant in all conditions ?

I thought Pressure Compensated Flow Controls had a "return to tank" port to prevent Dead heading the source????

Why do you repeat everything that was said in part 1? What’s the point of part 1
