It's safer to have the fuse in place, Brian. I wouldn't want to you to have an incident with it because it didn't have a fuse to disconnect the power when it should.
@oersson
@oersson Год назад
@@contact4mwy7 Agreed! The fuse is a safety feature to prevent overheating of the wire that could start a fire. So, although removing the dead fuse and reconnecting the wires will restore power to the device it is not really recommended. That said, not sure if it really practically matters that much!

Thanks Mark I will check again! I have the "Power Cooker XL" but under the hood very similar. There is a small fuse on the ckt board on mine that is good. Checked continuity and all was good there too. Mine died right in the middle of some cooking up a batch of stew....luckily just transferred to our Duo pressure cooker and cooked on the Weber Range out back.

The fuse you saw on the circuit board, was it a glass tube type? The fuse I replaced is not the glass type, you can't see through it. It was inline with the main power coming into the pressure cooker. Kinda looked like a pill with wire coming out of each end.

Any idea if the seven segment led display on the Pressure King Pro can be repaired or replaced? The cooker works fine except that all of the numerical displays have stopped working, segments simply went dark one by one. I can still use the oven with the pre-set buttons, (they still light up) but I can't use the user select for altering the time of cooking. Trying to find if a replacement panel is available but no luck yet!

Tried crimping with lugs. Didn't work - the connections were too loose and, basically, just fell apart. So I soldered the connections which wasn't as troublesome as I thought and produced strong connections that I couldn't pull apart. Hope this holds together and I wonder just how hot it gets at these spots at the bottom of the device.

I would use a tester set for ohms or continuity, placing the probes to metal on each side of the fuse, with the unit unplugged. If the fuse is good, it will show almost no ohms across it. If it's bad, it will show a high number of ohms, close to infinity, meaning it is no longer passing electricity. Make sense?

@@contact4mwy7 Thanks for responding. Yes, there's power to the unit, I can select what I want to cook. All of that works just fine. Only problem is when I press START, nothing happens - no click, no beep, and absolutely no heat. I'm willing to bet that it's the button itself which means the whole control pad has been rendered useless. I can tell because the button feels really loose when I press it, like it's disconnected underneath the plastic. Think I'll take your advice and replace the entire pressure cooker.
