Pressure testing bathroom remodeling with 4" Cherne long test-ball plug.  

Inspectors here want to see the drain system filled when they visit.

I assembled the adapter out of readily available PVC couplings and a 1/2" brass nipple. Then use a flexible supply line just like a sink.

Cut out the leaking union and replaced about an 18" section of pipe, then used two unions.
