Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

Try Countdown mode, it lasts about 50m. It's pretty strategic, I love it.

Lift catches minerals, so they can't fall down the mine shaft even if they get stuck! even without upgrades

Lift generally isn't optimal for fixed cobalt with assessor since you'll want to upgrade the bundle abilities even with the lift. This makes it redundant since you can shoot the bundles up the center channel (I know this because I used to use the lift and stopped since it was as waste of a gadget). Might be better for him since he's only doing an hour though.

Great fun watching you progress both with the assesor and the prestige mode!!! Always love to see the way you experiment around with different things and how it keeps the content fresh and fluid! Thanks for all the work you put out!!! 😁 The idea to set a timer for yourself feels interesting, especially for the style of your content. It's not like splitting a long video in two would necessarily fit Dome Keeper, as it doesn't have an obvious natural point to stop as it happens with more narrative based games, for example.

Gotta say, I've been trying the Odd method of efficiency over orderly and it's doing me pretty fine. And after constantly playing the assessor I'm seeing how damn powerful it can be, loving the sphere splitting upgrade. I just need to stop being so greedy with prestige mode (or get good I suppose 😅)

Great run! You lost a lot of time because your bundles fell during this run. So, I think you should invest more into upgrading the bundle lifetime. That's the Center Line, Bundle Guidance, and "Magnetic Center Line" upgrades.

I completely agree about the bundle lifetime. I don't think Odd adjusted to how deep he had dug by the end of the run. I definitely believe many dropped resources were simply unbundling before they had time to make it all the way to the Resource Chunker 9000.

@@LucklessLovelocks I'm not saying it's optimal, It's just that he set it up that way, got to the gadget, then ignored it. And then had resources dropping because their packets expired. There was at least two times he had to re-shoot packets at the dome and if he had grabbed the lift then at least they wouldn't have spread themselves across the map.

So something I dont understand about this mode, what is the point of sending materials early? Wouldnt it be better to upgrade as much as you can first to mine more efficiently and then to donate everything you are bringing in? Please keep in mind I've never played this game, only watched Odd play it. So there could easily be something about it that I'm missing.

You score points after every wave killed. The formula is: base score (goes up by 1 for every iron/water bundle you send) x multiplier (goes up by 1 for every cobalt you send) = score added for that wave. A really good run of Fixed Cobalt Prestige easily goes 50+ waves so for a 1 iron investment right away you would get 500+ total points from it (if your multiplier is at 10). If you wait too long that 1 iron will net you less points. It's a balancing act of survival, fast mining vs sending resources up as early as possible.

Especially with the assessor, im with Odd and Luckless on this one. The other guy its easier to go in straight lines but the assessor bucks the trend since your most efficient use is to compression mine into the emptiness and then shoot a couple of balls out to the sides.

It's just that most people think strip mining is the way to go but that only ensures you don't MISS anything. It's very slow and once you understand how iron is spawned (in triangulated patterns) you realize that going at angles gives you a better chance of finding the next iron patch. This kind of digging ends up looking kind of random but it's playing the odds (pun intended).@@joshp8535

Odd I don't think you're making good use of the quick shot. After firing a full shot, you can and should move to quick shot other monsters, often the smaller ones, so as to reduce their numbers early and make the battle more manageable. You're simply wasting the quick shot every time, even though there are other enemies to shoot.

I’m quickshotting the large monsters so they die faster as they’ll do majority of the damage and the shields protect from the weaker fliers.

The shield is a factor, of course, just keep in mind you can use the quick shot for example to shoot down a rock when the shield is broken. If you time it right, you could kill a diver too. You get the idea.
